Well, here is my story. I know many questions/answers are contained within this thread, but perhaps someone could message me with the most pertinent details. I got a phone call after submitting my email questionnaire and she has me set up with a Skype interview the beginning of next week. I am VERY nervous and just thought I'd reach out for any comforting/helpful responses. Thanks!

I am trying to go through and mark down questions that I may be asked and prepare, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask as well.

I was told the training would begin in April.

When we say all the information is on the forum and start from page 1 its not just because were ******s let me rephrase that when i say it, its not just because I am an a- hole its to start you on the path of being able to search for info and regurgitate it. Its an important skill you need to be successful in this position. So do yourself a favor and read through the forum all the info is here, if you really want it.

Thanks for the reply.

As I said, I am going through the entire thread and putting down information, questions and answers I think will be important. If anyone has anything else to add to it I am open to hearing it. Awesome catalog of information here for the taking.

I apologize if it seems i was coming off abrasive, not my intention.

I remember when i first applied in nov only going back about ten pages from the recent post and was like i know i have the skills and experience where is my questionnaire ? then i read and knew what I was missing and what i haven't done and the same day i reapplied with all the info i obtained from the forum i received the questionnaire so for any newcomer while we like to be helpful and assist remember the #1 priority is remaining anonymous and if the answer is already here no reason to risk exposure.

There's no "one size fits all" way to prep for an interview. Either you know the ABC's of technology or you don't e.g. what's the difference between hardware and software? I've been doing this AHA gig since autumn last year and from everyone I've spoken with that's been hired, the ultimate deciding factor is whether or not you establish a quick rapport with the interviewer. I've seen people with a lot of tech skills not get hired and people with minimal skills get the job. Your personality and ability to empathize will get you hired... knowing what RAM is and how to troubleshoot email helps but those, in and of themselves won't get you the job.

After going thru 3 interviews I was told I would start march 18 class filled out background check one week ago on Thursday was told would be contacted this week getting worried its Friday and no phone call no email one way or the other. I mean I did background check two weeks ago

Thanks, AngryGerbil, that makes sense.

Interview

Just got off the phone with Apple. Have an interview setup with them. I'm a little worried.I wont be accepted I can show empathy. The last support job I did was for a big company, they didnt really care about the customers expariance I do thats why I applyed for Apple they care.

I need to reteach my self in like a week. I want to provide the best customer service I can. Beyond what Apple wants. I guess I will do some research and mock sessions with family.

Quick update: My background check shows as 'complete' on HireRight this morning, so that took less than two days. I'm sot sure what to make of it though, since it shows no misdemeanors (I have one) and it says nothing about the past employment checks that many people are discussing.

Perhaps this is another area where the process for students is different from that for regular applicants. As long as we're in school and not criminals, then maybe we're okay. To that end though, the report says nothing about verifying my enrollment. I think I uploaded a pdf transcript with the original application, but that would be pretty easy to fake.

Anyhow, a little over two weeks into the process now and it looks like the only thing left to do is wait for an offer or a rejection.

Empathy is a human trait. Either you have it or you don't. You can fake it to some extent, but it should have nothing to do with how your last employer operated. Try this:

(Not an actual interview question, as far as I know, but it will get the point across)

"My grandmother just died and you idiots sold me an iPad that doesn't work right. I hate this! How do I get my apps to work? I don't need this kind of trouble right now!"

What is your reaction? Are you searching the knowledge base for an answer about the apps or are you concerned about the loss of this person's grandmother? That's it, in a nutshell. As long as you're not an idiot and you can actually carry out the rest of the interview, a role-playing scenario like this one will tell them whether or not you possess empathy.

I haven't yet. I've been checking my email and caller Id like crazy. They have had my background info for about a week and a had now.

I'm in the same boat. It's nerve racking, but consilience and patience always pay off in the long run. ;)

Still, I do feel like this at the moment. --->

We are paid every 2 weeks. For the month of March, we get paid on the 1st, the 15th and the 29th. When you start, go ahead and process your direct deposit. Double and triple check it to ensure the numbers are correct to avoid any sort of delay getting that setup.

Don't give up hope until you receive the "thanks for playing" email. Remember they have tons of people to weed through and some of them have no clue what empathy is. Just remember to lay it on nice and thick for your next interview. Sincerity also goes a long way with dealing with customers.

Thanks for your input. I'll definitely keep it in mind. :D

I feel you. I'm feeling the same way. :(

Same here, man! Good luck to you. ;)

Just curious, has anyone gotten the "thanks for playing" email after their background check was complete? I know my background check is clean, and I went through almost the same one for my current job and nothing has changed. They received my info from my completed BRC on 2/11 but I've heard nothing back and the wait is killing me! Thanks guys!

In the same boat. Mine completed 2/13, still waiting on offer call, and it seems a few others that posted recently are as well. From reading through it seems thanks for playing emails after background check are pretty rare but possible, and they do a bunch of the offer calls at the same time(seems to be on a Tuesday or Thursday normally) so I'm betting we will likely hear on the 25th-26th.

Out of curiosity, which training class are they looking at you for? They've mentioned the 3/25 for me.

The 3/18 class I believe, but a lot of people that were in the last round of offer calls were moved to the 4/1 and later classes because the ones in March were full so I have no idea at this point.
