I managed to pull through my first "Skype" interview (which ended up being a phone interview, actually), no thanks to the cold medicine I was on. I will try to remember to post my interview questions for all tomorrow.

One thing is beginning to worry me, though -- the whole dedicated office space situation. At my last at-home position, my bedroom doubled as my work space, which worked fine. I was able to lock myself in and focus on work as needed, and it was rare that the ambient noise from the rest of the house would leak into my "office." But it did happen once in a while. From what I have read here, Apple may not see that as an acceptable work environment. I have the potential for other work spaces, but nothing that is set up and ready to go. Any comments? It's keeping me awake. No joke. It's 3 AM Central Standard time, people.

I apologize for the delay hopefully you passed out and were able to obtain some rest. at that hour I'm sure you can imagine why there were crickets to your response lol. No worries if you dont have an office area set up Apple actually encourges you to wait until you have your paperwork session.

Personally I didn't make it that long, but generally they try to set that up a month before your start date.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you have constantly barking dogs or crying children that can be heard through the phone. They are pretty picky about ergonomics though.. type of chair, desk height, monitor height etc. I bought a new chair, set up the office just right, sent them pics and immediately after my home office was approved... I converted it back to the way it was.

FaceTime Interview gone Wrong!!

I just had my FaceTime interview well I guess I should say phone. I use my FaceTime multiple times during the day and the time they call I have no sound and troubleshooting doesn't work Go FIGURE! Well I did it over the phone, I felt pretty confident and at the end she stated that they will be sending me and email to schedule a 2nd FaceTime interview with a team leader. I thought great at least i made it past this point. The thing is my good friend did this two weeks ago and he said they told him "If, they decide to further him along they will email him with a link to set all up" He didn't get the job, but rather an email two days later saying they are going on without. Now im worried that I might of missed the "IF" part. I know I just got to wait but it's killing me. Scheduled start time is 4/15. I hope I did enough. Anyone else get told "IF" or what?

Well, phew! Knowing that does make me feel less hassled, thank you. And I really didn't expect anything more than crickets this morning. It was just one of those things I needed to vomit out if my brain so that I could finally sleep. ;)

Was told if on each interview... don't sweat it too much. I know its hard to do. Been there i realize now there was no reason to worry so much.

Thanks, It is hard. It's not fun sitting around. Im only a few hours. Lord knows what other people who have been at it for a week feel like. Any Suggestions for 3rd interview over facetime?

Relax remember empathy, be friendly and professional. was more technical yes but thats not the driver is more how you handle it. If you don't know don't BS it be honest and be your self. thats really it the questions posted earlier in the forum are accurate. hope this helps:apple:

First time posting here. Had all three interviews (been pitched as being in the 3/25 class) hireright background check finished 2/13 waiting on offer call. From reading I've seen that people tend to get their calls around the same time in batches. Has anyone received a official offer call this week yet? If nothing tomorrow I will likely email or call them to inquire mostly because the team manager that did my final interview said I would likely hear by Monday(which I then realized was a holiday and may interfere).

First post asking for advice. I applied in December for AHA and retail. Got an email for a hiring event in January but couldn't attend because I was sick. I got an email yesterday for the AHA and have a 2nd interview next
Monday. Well I just received another email for a hiring event for retail. I really want the AHA,that's my first choice. But wondering if I should register for the retail hiring event too??

Paperwork session completed

Hey guys and gals. I'm a member of the 3/18 class and just completed my paperwork session today. For those of you wondering what transpires, I'll try to shed a little light on it:

It was basically just a conference call where you dial (by phone) into a number they provide you and then enter in your assigned code. I was in the room with several people and they will ask you repeatedly to mute your phone to avoid feedback. Our call consisted on our worldwide recruiting rep, a rep from HR and another Apple employee who basically described what would happen over the next few days/weeks leading up to your startung day of training and what to expect during training. They also went over additional details regarding the technical requirements (internet speed/phone) and a brief introductory to benefits.

You are supposed to receive a hard (paper) copy of all of your forms you need to sign and return via FedEx overnight from California the night before your paperwork session. Mine arrived at my door DURING my paperwork session, but no worries...you can just follow along with the email/PDF versions of the paperwork that they'll email you the day of your paperwork session.

Included in the FedEx envelope is a white folder with the iconic Apple logo. Inside is all of the important info. Some you'll return, most you won't. It is a very cool feeling to see your official hard-copy offer letter and inside the folder in shiny silver writing, "Welcome To Apple." VERY COOL.

So now (in my case) my paperwork has to be back to HR via FedEx by 3/6. After that, my FedEx shipment of my iMAC, phone and headsets will arrive between 3/12 and 3/15 they said. They even tell you (as tempting as it is) NOT to open the box with your iMAC in it or attempt to set it up until the morning of (about 30 minutes) prior to your starting day. MAN! THAT's gonna be tough!

So...this was my experience. Anybody else wanna share theirs?

How long after your 2nd interview did you know you were hired? What was the time frame? What were some of the questions they asked you during your phone interviews?

Hey! All of your questions have been answered on the previous pages. Your best bet is to peruse the thread as it's full of valuable information. Good luck :)

You can double in a bedroom. No worries.

Possible mixup?

Hi all,
Without going through all the replies to this thread, has anyone heard of the hiring team making a mistake?

I thought I nailed the interviews on all aspects - empathy, knowledge, the whole nine yards. Without trying to sound conceited I am extremely knowledgeable on all Apple technology and been in customer service for 15+ years in lead positions so I'm not real sure where I went wrong to get the declined e-mail :(

First Interview

Hello, all. I'm new here. I just had my first interview through the phone. It lasted about 20 minutes. It wasn't that bad actually. I think I could've done better. I hoped it just came out as though I was just nervous. The interviewer was really nice. What I did to prepare for this interview was go through this forum and find as many questions as possible, then typed them out on a document. I didn't read them when answering the questions, of course. It was just an outline for me so I didn't have to think about the answers too much (I was nervous enough the way it was). I applied as a student position through my school so the process and questions were a little bit different from what I found on this thread. First, she introduced herself and went over information about the position. Then she proceeded with the questions. Some of the questions she asked were:

How would you describe RAM to someone with little technical knowledge?
What was your most recent technical issue?
Describe the most difficult technical issue you have ever had.
What does exceptional customer service mean to you?
What are your strengths/weaknesses?
What irritates you about other people?
Tell me about a time when your co-worker was having a hard time. How did you deal with it?
In your circle of friends/family, who do they go to for technical support?
Someone is having a hard time printing out something. What are 3 things you would tell them to do?
What are the specs of your computer?
Have you ever had to work while going to school? How did you balance that?

She also asked things that I could have expanded on if I ever encountered these:
Have you ever had a problem with starting a device up?
Have you ever had to upgrade the system on your computer?
Have you ever had trouble with email?

I asked her:
When should I be hearing from you?
What are the next steps?
What qualities are they looking for?
What does a typical day look like?

That's all I could remember. I decided to post these up because it was hard to find recent interview questions and especially those that were for the student position. Good luck to everyone who's still in the process!

Now, it's time to play the waiting game. :)

well the third interview was the easiest and most laid back for me but the waiting after was the worst!

----------

It took just under 24 hours for me to get my email from hire right but every time line is a bit different

Glad to hear the third interview is the easiest.. I just got an interview invite for the third interview with a hiring manager. I see most people get the third interview with a team manager, but is there a difference?

3rd Interview!

I applied for the AHA on 2/1/13 and on 2/12/13 I got an email to complete the 12 questions, i completed that day and about 2hrs later I got a call and completed my first phone interview. I got set up that same day for a 2nd FaceTime interview for 2/19/13 which i completed yesterday. I was very nervous and to be honest felt confident but didn't think I made it for what ever reason. I got an email already today with my link to schedule my 3rd and final FaceTime interview! I just wanted to say thank you to this FORUM because everything you need to know is here and helped me out so much. Good luck to everyone.

Know the answers to the question on page 40 of this forum good luck!!!
YOU are awesome :)

apparently, i do not post enough to be able to reply to or send private messages :-/ thank you for the info. i applied for numerous aha postings yesterday and got a call last night. this morning i got an email. second interview is scheduled for 2/26. this is for april start.

Hi everyone,

I just signed up here so I could add my info to the mix. I've been following this thread for a while now and most of the info seems pretty accurate. I'll just share my timeline first, since it sounds like the process hasn't been exactly the same for all of us.

I received an email from my university on February 6th, indicating that Apple was recruiting students for the at-home advisor position. I'm an online student, far away from campus, so normally I don't get to partake in campus recruiting. The fact that Apple was reaching beyond the campus, for a job that obviously requires no physical connection to a campus, was appealing to me.

Some time within the next day or two, I followed the link in the email and created a profile on the Apple jobs site. During that process I was asked for some basic information and I also uploaded a resume.

A few days after that initial application, I received an email with a link to a questionnaire that contained some basic computer questions and other info. I don't recall all of the specifics, but those have been discussed here anyway. My point is that this was my second point of contact with Apple and it came rather quickly.

On February 14th (last Thursday), I received another email from Apple, asking me to choose a time for an interview on the following Monday. I could select Facetime or Skype or, alternatively, arrange a phone interview. I chose Skype and provided them with my username. The website also told me to be on the lookout for an email with a link to an official application. I thought I had already filled out an official application, but I had not.

On Friday (2/15) I got the following email:

"Prior to the next step in your interview process, we would like you to complete our official Apple Application for Employment. This is separate from you creating an online profile and applying to the At-Home Advisor position, which you have already done.

To get started, visit Apple - Jobs at Apple and sign in using your Apple ID. Next, complete your employment application by clicking My Application. Some information will be populated from your profile for your convenience.

Thanks again for your interest in a career at Apple.

Regards,

Apple Worldwide Recruiting"

So that was last Friday, just over a week after I sent the initial application. I responded quickly and filled out the second application as directed.

My Skype interview was this Monday. My laptop with the built-in webcam crashed on Sunday night, of course, so I had to buy a webcam for my other computer, but otherwise the interview went off without any trouble. I've never gone to a job interview without wearing a suit before, but since I was at home I decided on a simple shirt and tie. The manager doing the interview asked me to take off the tie before we started.

Some of my questions were similar to the ones described here (RAM/ROM, email won't work, etc.) while most of them really just seemed like the guy was trying to get to know me. In the little role playing thing, my mind immediately went to the "customer's" personal situation rather than his computer, so I was concerned that I had screwed up. Before we even got to the computer, the scenario was over and we went back to the regular interview. For this reason I thought I had botched it, but many of the posts in this thread seem to suggest otherwise.

Earlier today I got the email from HireRight, asking for personal details and to authorize the background check. This may derail me, since I do have a misdemeanor impaired driving conviction on my record, but the application only asked about felonies, so I don't know. I know my former employers will speak highly of me and my personal references are solid.

I was told that training would begin in late May or early June, but this is because I'm a full-time student and they don't start training for us until the Spring term is over.

I just thought I'd add this to the discussion since my total timeline has been quite a bit shorter than a lot of people have mentioned. I also only had one interview.

Side notes, for what they're worth:
No Apple or Mac experience, but quite a lot of PC experience
No prior employment that would relate directly to this job, aside from ten years as a restaurant manager (customer service, problem solving, etc.)
No plans to travel during summer or winter break, which I think is a pretty big deal for them

So anyhow, yeah, that's where I stand. It sounds like the background check is the final hurdle. Should be okay, but as the Zen master said... we'll see.

YOU are awesome :)

Can't say I disagree lmao

Glad to hear for anybody new to the thread start from page 1 and you can also experience this overwhelming feeling of how did Charlie sheen put it ? Oh yea winning lol

Hello, everybody! I've also been reading this thread for a while now, but I've a couple of questions. I had my interview one week ago now, and I received the background request e-mail a day later.

Now, during my interview we did a 'mock' telephone call, but I wasn't particularly 'empathic' as I believe I should've been (or what I've read up to this point in what they're looking for).

The interviewer told me I'd hear back in two weeks, but it seems most of the people here who've been hired heard back within a shorter time frame. It's been a week already, and I'm really worried I'm not going to get the gig. :(

Keep in mind, I'm a student. Nonetheless, there was never any mention of a possible second interview, and I haven't received any follow up e-mail, or even the [] dreaded e-mail.

Any feedback would be nice. Thank you all! ;)

----------

Me too! It doesn't a seem like anyone on the thread has gotten an offer call lately. My background check was sent to :apple: on Monday the 11th so I'm hoping I hear something Monday the 18th! Waiting sucks!

Have you heard something back yet?
