I was recently hired for the At-Home Advisor position as well. My process was slightly different.
1. I applied for the job online and uploaded my resume.
2. 1 week later I received an email that said I passed the first screening, and they sent me a link to an official application. I submitted it.
3. Another week later they sent me an email asking me to attend a virtual Q&A session, and then schedule a phone or facetime interview. I chose the phone interview.
4. The interviewer called right on time with a blocked number, and proceeded to ask me typical job interview questions (Describe a time you were/were not able to... blah blah) and also determine if I could handle being shut in the house for work. She also asked me some really basic techy questions that anyone who knows how to use a computer could answer easily.
5. Another week later I got a background check link in my email. It was from a company called HireRight. I submitted it immediately.
6. I waited a LONG time for anything else to happen. I confirmed the background check came back clean, but still nothing from apple for over a month. At that point I figured they decided not to hire me.
7. They called me out of the blue and offered me the position. They told me my pay-rate, and said it would start on May 28, and be full-time for the summer.
8. They sent me a packet of new-hire forms through fedex, as well as an email asking me to attend a telephone paperwork session.
9. I attended this session. I basically just called the number and was added to a giant conference call with other new-hires and Apple team leaders. We were asked to mute our phones while they went over the details of each form in the packet.
10. I had to very quickly fill out the employment verification form and get the notary at my bank to verify my ID's and the form (it didn't need to be notarized though). Then I had to fax it to Apple HR and then call them immediately to ensure it was filled in correctly. They WILL reject it for any little mistake, so be careful. Then they sent me an email will a fedex overnight express label to send the entire paperwork packet back to them. Be quick with those forms, they have a short deadline and they made it very clear that missing that deadline will lose you the job offer.
11. Another 2 weeks later I received a little welcome email congratulating me and telling me quirky stuff about the leadership team and their personalities.
I'm sure the process is different for others depending on where they are located. But that is exactly what has happened with my application. I'm just waiting now for the next step.
I'm very excited.
