I'm in August 12th. This is the third start date I've been given. Curious to see if its the last.

sweet, good news if they are moving people to an earlier start class. Most likely that means there will be more spots available for the rest who have yet to receive an offer >=)

Anyone have any idea what classes are what in relation to start dates? I believe the 8/26 class is CPU and part time

Another question for someone currently working part time or full time, can you tell us how easy is to get extra hours? Does the need for overtime come up often?

I haven't heard anyone with the July 22nd start date. Does anyone know what it is? My original start date was for ios. I'm hoping that's what it is since I'm not so good with computers.

I got hired through Kelly btw.
Also Kelly now upped the wage. Yay

Hey Maippox, that is good news to hear that Kelly Services has upped the pay. Is it comparable to Apple's pay rate for new hires as a "home advisor"?:).

Hahahahahahahah, oh that's just funny. No, no it still isn't anywhere near what Apple offers for the same job. They just rounded up to the next even dollar amount. So yes, great, more money, but super-boo for it being so much less still.

Hey chosen105,

Yes they do give pay raises based on reviews and performance. You also do get a 401k and medical and dental but not sure how long you have to be there to get it or if they give it on day 1.

Training is also 5 weeks in a virtual environment that has 3 open book and open note test.

That's awesome, thanks for answering my question. I really want to use this job as a opportunity to move up in the company like my friend is doing in the store, but naturally they didnt give me much info yet.

The job has a high turnover for a reason, its not for everyone and there's no way in hell I could do it from a patience with idiots perspective. They over hire knowing some won't make it through training (testing or personally) or they won't last in the environment after being there for a few months.

I know the international AHA reps get paid quite a bit more, but that's what you get for being bilingual I suppose. I've read most your posts Mr. Gerbil and I have to say I agree with every one of them. I kinda laugh at the naivete and false sense of hopes and belief from new hires and perspective hires in this thread. Yes its Apple, no its not magical, and it sucks just like every other support job. You are the lowest on the totem pole and you're treated as such. Yes you get a employee discount, but its no compensation for the type of job this is.

Most will glaze over at this, yes, you work for Apple, so what if its miserable..

I can't disagree with you I'm afraid. Keep in mind though that most of the reps are young, have very little job experience behind them and not many have 4 year degrees. For them, it's their 1st foray into the job market and many are a part of the "cult of Apple" even before they get hired. That's why they think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

For the folks that have been around the block a few times like myself... yeah, the job sucks. It's entry level customer service.

I read your post and found it interesting. I for one am 24 years old with professional career IT experience and when they gave me my hourly rate I was a tad taken back by the high rate of pay. But I have also read about there being a T2 position and T1 position. Does everyone start at T2 and work there way to T1? Or how does that work

I wouldn't really know because i don't know what Apple hire's at in my state.

It's a few dollars over my state minimum. The way people are talking on here though makes me believe that its not near Apple's pay rate. But that's expected. I tried applying directly through apple but i didn't even get a questionnaire.

Exactly ^^
But i didn't even have a chance getting in directly through Apple. You take what you can get. :)

Dear people who just got hired,
For the love of all things holy... PAY ATTENTION WHEN PEOPLE ASK QUESTIONS SO YOU DON'T REPEAT THE SAME QUESTION!!

Sorry for the shorty caps but goodness.

*headdesk*

I did new hire stuff today and people just were not paying attention!

MY GOD I couldn't agree more, the people on this conference call right now are so incompetent how did they make it this far? Apple keeps repeating themselves, my god someone help these poor people. Direct them to a new job.

If they can't listen to the recruiter how will they listen to the customers.

Omg! I was just on probably the same call. Can't believe the more vocal ones were even hired. That call have me a headache. I need a glass of wine now. So much redundancy. I didn't speak once, as everything was said ten times.

Sheesh

Hey guys, i have a question.

For the phone line did you's get a business line?
Or a regular phone line?

Just curious. On the list they gave me none of them service my area. My local phone company does however provide a business line but its very expensive.

You can use your local cable company's digital phone line. I used AT&T and it was only $20 a mo for local service.

I think we were! I asked one very important question and that was it. And it wasn't covered at the time. I guess I'm just used to a working at home environment but everything that was covered was in our packet. Reading is fundamental, just saying.

My cable company told me it HAS to be a business line, which is $50+ to install and about $60 a month.. :/

I will look into AT&T. Is it the wireless home phone?

I first heard the August 26th start time as being part time. Maybe now I'll be told its gone to full time? Maybe the class is a mix of ft/pt like you suggested... Sounds like Apple thought they may need to readjust for business needs.

Any ideas on how many classes or positions are starting for either CPU or IOS? Lets see if we can start narrowing down the start dates with either CPU or IOS.

Personally, I would much rather go into CPU...Especially with my IT background. But I'm happy to anywhere at this point...at least I can work from home :)

Also, i dont need international calling do i?

You just need absolute bare bones service. All of your calls are incoming from within the U.S. because they're all routed from Apple. You may have to make outgoing calls but it will be through Apple's system, not through your local provider.

Oh, and for gosh sakes people, don't tell the stupid cable company that it's for work. That's none of their business and they'll use it as an excuse to jack up the price.

And it's through my mother's cable company so she said i have to tell them & make sure i do it the "right" way because she doesn't want to get in trouble with them -.-

This is sadly BEYOND true. A lot of people were asking questions about things that were already discussed, or were IN the paperwork if they had READ it to begin with.

Sadly I am noticing this same trend in Training as well. I seriously wonder how a lot of the people in my group got hired..... Sad but very true.
