So this thing with the too many attempts, it sounds like it still hasn’t been fixed yet. Mine is up on the 30th (was also flagged for too many attempts), but sounds like it’s not even worth attempting then either. Is this more on GS or Apple at this point? Or both? And I love how they’d always say to talk to TransUnion – TransUnion can’t fix GS’ issues.

Exactly because not more than 2 months ago did u apply for a old navy card and got approved, which they pulled info from TransUnion with no issues

Its my opinion on both. Functionally, its 100% GS. But Apple, while selling and promoting a product with their brand, need to take responsibility for the incompetence of their partner. That is a much smaller role to play for people already having problems but a larger problem for people who are looking into it.

Steve Jobs has been dead for almost 8 years. Just stop with the “Steve Jobs would...” or “Steve Jobs would not...”. He’s dead. I doesn’t matter what he would or would not have done at this point.

I'm pretty sure he or she is making fun of the people you're pointing out. It's a joke at this point.

Hi guys, I’ve been following this conversation since the beginning and I just created an account to share my experience as well. I know it is a very frustrating situation for many of us. On August 14th I started to apply for the Apple Card because I got an invite. Since the first application, I began to experience issues with the ID verification process. I live in Puerto Rico and I have a Real ID driver license. I also have a passport (which I tried to use many times since some people were apparently getting approved with it). I had multiples attempts talking to GS and Apple and I was getting the same response here than everyone else, “try again, we will investigate, we are working on the issue, you will receive a call” and so on. Well, I didn’t receive the call and nothing changed, I was stuck with the verfication process. On August 19th I got my first “too many recent applications” response, realizing I was also added to the “30-day” ban group. So I gave up at this point and here’s what happened.

On September 15th my friend tried to apply for the first time (she also lives in PR and has a Real ID version). She was completing it and she got the ID scan step, she began to scan it multiple times within the same application after she got a message that said “Review in Progress: Your Apple Card application is currently in review. You will receive a call in 1-3 business days requesting additional information”. I was shocked to see that, since I didn’t find anywhere online such a response. She waited three days and she didn’t get the call. But on the 19th (yesterday) she got a push notification stating her application was approved and to continue with the application through her Wallet app. When she tapped on it she got her offer, and accepted.

So today, (September 20th) was my 31st day of waiting after being locked out with the “too many recent applications” response. I decided to apply like an hour ago and after the exact same process my friend experienced (tried multiple times scanning ID but on the same application) I got the same “Review in Progress” response. I’m not getting the frustrating “We are unable to verify your identification information”. So I’ll wait for any update and keep you guys posted. Hopefully there is a solution for everyone very soon, good luck guys.

WOOHOO! I finally got the card!

Today I upgraded to the iPhone 11 Pro, and today is also day 31 since I got the "too many applications" message. I just applied and it was approved immediately, no ID scan required. Good luck to the rest of you :)

I tried yesterday (sep 19th) after being banned for 30 days (I got an early invite) and still got the ‘unable to verify ID’ response.

It has now been 32 days for me and I am still getting “too many applications” as the error message.

Yesterday I contacted Apple through chat and asked if there was any update with my application. They transferred me to a GS Apple Card Specialist and he asked if I had received an email asking for documents to upload, I told him I had not. After that he told me to hold for a few minutes and then I got a push notification that I was approved and the Apple Card offer was ready for my decision in the Wallet app.

I guess at this point there is clearly some kind of manual review for the ID scan issues at least... I don’t know why there isn’t one for other issues with the application.... this is crazy.

FWIW... I've been following this for a few weeks. My experience is similar to others here. I was invited to get the card early. Applied, and then declined the offer. Changed my mind after a few days, but found I was locked out. Tried all sorts of stuff. No go. Apple support was no help. Gave up in disgust. I waited a little over a month, and re-applied - just now. Approved instantly - with slightly better terms (higher credit limit) than before. Maybe they've figured it out.

Glad to hear some people are having more success...as of today, I continue to receive a message that I have applied a "number of times" and I am on Day 35 since my last application with any other status. I won't be applying any more, not worth this.

Same issue. I tried back in late July. I never made it as far as ID verification. Immediate "We are unable to verify your identification information" error. No data entry mismatch, credit bureau lock, or anything like that.
Escalated to upper review and promised a call back within a week, which never happened. Just tried again on 09-24-19, with the same results. Trying another case with Goldman-Sachs referral, after 4 transfers to another "case specialist". Each agent was less helpful or knowledgeable than the past. I will advise if they can ever identify the issue.

I was given a direct number from an Apple rep., who claims it's Goldman Sachs (GS) 877 968 4372. However, they're not at all helpful, can't troubleshoot, and claim no ability to escalate to a second tier. I spoke to two separate talking heads, who were very scripted in their patronizing statements. There is a glimmer of hope, though. Going through the Apple Case ID system, and waiting through 3 separate transfers, I was connected to a real GS case worker, who was able to escalate the issue for review. I'm promised a 3-5 day callback, just like last July, when I went through the same issue. We'll see...

Update for my situation (Unable to verify WA State Enhanced DL). I attempted applying today for the first time in 36 days and I was successfully verified and approved. I purposefully waited the extra 6 days just to make sure.

Pure speculation on my part, but I have a feeling the 30 day lockout is from the last time you got the 'too many applications' rejection. If you just recently got that message you may want to just wait it off 30+ days otherwise you might just keep pushing your date back.

I had the error “You have applied a number of times so we cannot verify the information you have provided at this time” after having identity verification issues when applying for the Apple Card last month. I just reapplied for the Apple Card today and was approved instantly on the first try all without needing to scan my ID and with no credit history. Things have certainly improved!
