I almost always get AppleCare+ for iPad. The price of AppleCare compared to the cost of repair is pretty decent so it’s worth it. I prefer to buy two years upfront though, trying to cut down on monthly expenses.

Makes sense for new iPads especially with how thin and expensive they are. But with the 2018 iPad Pro I feel like it’s kind of just wasted money. A refurb unit is a couple hundred dollars and no point in paying for AppleCare when its depreciated so much.
On a strictly financial analysis, you're correct. But for me there's also the peace-of-mind factor. I'm very meticulous about caring for my tech, but even I have had a few instances (as with the iPad mini 6) where I've damaged a device or had one go bad after the manufacturer warranty had expired.

And there was a 27 inch iMac (circa 2010) that started acting flaky shortly after the manufacturer warranty expired; multiple attempts at repair by a skilled Apple Certified repair tech were unsuccessful. I finally had to give up on repairing it. But if I'd had AppleCare, Apple would have had to either repair it or replace it. That's when I started getting AppleCare on all my devices.

Screen protector? Don’t get me started. I have always used screen protectors on every iPhone and iPad I’ve ever had until the 15 Pro Max and now the M4 iPad. SO MUCH better without a screen protector. What have I been missing? Screen Protectors. NEVER AGAIN.
I always use a screen protector on iPhone.
Never have done on iPads.

When I buy an IPP, I get 2 years AC, but then stop (usually), but when I got my 1st gen there was no AC+ option.
Likewise with my Mac Pro / Mac Studio (2k+ purchase).
Never with iPhone (I never spend more than £400 on an iPhone).

I don't normally buy AppleCare, but it's $59 in their back to school deal. So I bought it for my new 11" iPad Air M2 + Magic Keyboard, and AC+ will cover both. That's about $2.50/mo for two years, and I can handle that.

i’ve never used apple care that i purchased so i stopped several years ago and saved a lot of money

if you’re truly a clumsy/careless/risky person who knows they break devices maybe it’s worth it but otherwise i’d say just be a little careful with your stuff it’s not that hard

i still have very old hardware that works just fine so im not sure why people are so paranoid about breaking their stuff but i think its largely a PR thing apple and insurance companies have pushed onto people to make them feel it’s needed and worth it

I usually buy Apple Care for all of my devices. But, over the past 20 years, I think I have taken advantage of it only once. With certain devices, such as a base MacBook Air, a base iPad, or even possibly the least-expensive iPad Air, adding Apple Care completely destroys the value proposition of the product. I think that, going forward, I’ll limit Apple Care to my phone.

In a van down by the river
Do you throw your iPad down the stairs and/or purposely sit on it? If not then you don't need it. iPad insurance is a waste of money.
Can the display or storage fail on the iPad without warning and through no fault of the user? If so, explain to me how AC+ is not helpful in such a situation where the service fee for a repair is a lot cheaper than the out of warranty cost.

You’re insuring a device like an iPad that depreciates heavily…just in case it gets damaged. Then you still have to pay a deductible. Sorry, that’s a scam.
Even though I got Apple Care + for my 1TB M4 Cellular iPad, I still don’t feel good about deductible fee because the display probably costs as much as that deductible fee at wholesale prices to Apple. Also I shouldn’t have to pay jack squat after emptying my wallet to Apple.

Really depends if you think you're going to need it. I purchase AC+ for all my devices for the peace of mind, though never once had to use it. I'm always extremely careful with my devices, but I feel like the one time I don't bother with AC+ is when I'm going to need it.

I‘ve never bought Apple Care for any Apple device. Between personal and work devices, I’ve bought I believe more than 100 Apple products. And only once I’ve had problems before three years, with the 13” MBP 2017.

And so far not even one accident that requires a repair.

I've never had AC+ previously on any device. Have never broken or lost a phone or iPad. I think I'll get it for the new iPad Pro, though. A combination of how expensive it is and also that it's got first generation tech like the tandem OLED and I don't want any hassles with getting stuff sorted out if there're any longevity issues

I usually get AC+ for my iPhones and also my Apple Watch but have never done so for my iPad’s. This time around though I am considering it. I intend to keep the M4 for at least 3 or 4 years so my question is, do you guys usually get AC+ for your iPad or not?
Consider that if a DFU restore doesn't fix whatever issue you are having with your iPad, your only recourse is to basically spend a ton on an out of warranty repair unit. ...Which for an M4 iPad Pro will be costly.

I ALWAYS get AppleCare+ on my iPads. The only time I don't is if I'm buying it used and the opportunity to get AppleCare+ is long gone. Plus nowadays, you can keep renewing it past the two year mark.
