Trust me man, i've tried. Plus a G5 will heat my room/suck electricity. This P4 isn't too bad, its small and bulletproof. My 'workflow' machines aren't all Macs, my server is a Dell (stated), my gaming machine is a custom PC, and my main machine is a MacPro1,1 (which I want to get new CPUs and a new video card for it.)

We need to have a G5 tower as the town center! xD It can have offices in it for the admins. Dang, I wish I could be playing right now. I may be behind in joining, but I definitely will come on. I get out of school on the 18th.

Sounds good, we just need people on to build it

Wow, that was real-time. I literally JUST posted that. I'll help build it when I come on.

We should build it with survival materials. We gotta get a big sheep farm and dye their wool light grey.

Did the little snap-in thing break? They always break >.<

Yup. Been like that for a while, been meaning to get around replacing mine. Anyway, I can't get on now, it's time for rest ;)

If it wasn't a hassle to do so, I would offer to run the server for you. Sadly, I don't have experience running an MC server, and my dad would probably find out that I have an old desktop running 24/7 xD. Our internet is really good though, and I have this 2.8Ghz Pentium D Gateway desktop with 4GB of RAM and Windows 7. (got it for free from e-waste). It actually runs nicely and would be a good server PC.

That's pretty similar to what I have, mines a 3.0 GHz Pentium (it might be a D) with 4GB. Runs fine under my bed.

Definitly going to go on the server some time. Does having a good connection actually help the server?

I have lots of experience with servers; my Internet is pretty good; but I do not have any place to run a computer 24/7...

I'd like to get a free computer from a recycling center
I could put that in my attic and forget about it! :D

"PowerPC Community Minecraft Center" (PPCMCC)

I got this from my school's e-waste bin. The recycling centers would NEVER let me touch anything. (my school wouldn't have either ;) ). It's stupid because some of the Pentium 4 PCs I got had 4GB of RAM in them. I also found a box full of 512MB sticks and some 1GB sticks. Anyway, It would make a great server if I was allowed to run it full-time. xD

Um... why do you have a computer under your bed? xD Well, I can understand... I almost considered sticking a computer in the bathroom to monitor our security cams.

What's worse is that I once used our computer room bathroom to store tons of computers. The bathtub was completely filled with junk. I kept hard drives in the soap/shampoo thing xD I cleaned that out though---now there are only two computers in the bathroom. However, one of the drawers in there is still filled to the top with hard drives.

There are ways to install Java 6 on Tiger/Leopard. You could also install Ubuntu.

I have spent hours and hours trying to get it to work on two separate G4's and it never fully works. I can install that beta version of Java 6 for PPC, but mine craft won't start regardless. Never mind server software.

Hey! Hey you! You like Minecraft, right? Well, we got it! Welcome to MacRumor's PowerPC Minecraft server (horrible name, new one?). Currently, its a 10 player server hosted from my house on a P4 Dell machine with 4GB of RAM. If you experience any downtime, email me at keaton.burleson@me.com

Address: play.keatonburleson.com

I may go on later... does it have good plugins?

I really need some 512MB DDR sticks for my PowerMac G4 MDD... Do you still have any of them?

Correction, I have two functioning computers under my bed. Until I get my new desk (which I plan to build a 'rack' into the desk to hold the servers) that's were they reside to save space

That would be a pretty cool desk.... some day I want to build my own. If you have seen adric22 on YouTube (TheiBookGuy), he did a very awesome desk build. (3-part video, but 3rd part recaps on everything). He used linoleum floor tiles for the desktop, which is a pretty cool and unconventional concept. I'd like to make a desk that can also store computers in a way that's not tacky. (unlike those Ikea desks that have that weird compartment underneath.

I don't like how his desk has a door right behind it.

Yeah--actually--I noticed that too. The door kinda opens into the desk. Of course, that isn't his desk's fault, rather the way the room is situated. Other than that, and the fact that he said he needs to add more reinforcements, it's an awesome desk. (particle board is Ikea quality though).

FYI the server SHOULD be up, me and gamer are on it right now.

I suppose I'll go on. By the way, we can call it 'PPCraft' for short, but 'PowerPCraft' can be a nice full name for it! :)

Great! I'm on right now terraforming and redoing the spawn area.
