Thank you anti-vaxxers for the delta variant.
Inner cities are one of the biggest groups of people who haven't been vaccinated.

Ugh here we go again.
MANDATORY VACCINES NOW!
MANDATORY MASKS NOW!
I think the vaccines work. Mostly. But the masks are not all that effective, except maybe for reducing the "waaaaahhhhh" coming from every Karen and Chad every time you want to go someplace.

How is a variant the started in India and really only killing unvaccinated people blamed on Americans 100% or really at all.. Quit gas lighting.
The gaslighting is strong with this bunch! These are not the masks you're looking for!

These are not the masks we're looking for; let's go!

Legit question if anyone can answer.....at what point in the past year did people stop referring to shots as shots and instead started calling them jabs?

I call them vaccines. But now it sounds more and more like they're basically just flu shots.

Hmm…it’s funny that the same people against protecting kids by monitoring iCloud photos for CSAM in the name of “Freedom” and “Privacy”, are for enforcing mandatory masks and vaccines on the unwilling (trampling on their “Freedom” & “Privacy”) to protect themselves.

Bit of a double standard if you ask me.

BTW, don’t please don’t assume my position on either of these issues.
E-stalking

You seem to have fallen into the lie that we can erradicate this. As long as there is unvaccinated people in the world a vaccine ressitant variant can form and there isn't anything we can do about that. The Spanish Flu aka H1N1 still shows up every couple years. The US which has 70% of it's adult population vaccinated isn't the issue regardless how much you gaslight.
Variants flourish in unvaccinated regions. No one really cares if these viruses live or not, so long as they don't infect and kill people. Stop pretending like science has changed over the last 200+ years.

Okay I’ll jump in on the fun before the comments get locked. From a non biased (neither pro vax nor anti vax) perspective:

Firstly, good job to Apple for closing the store to protect staff and customers. No matter what you believe about Covid, the fact is that the Apple stores by nature have a lot of products that everyone is touching and in the current world state, it was a good move to close it down temporarily.

As for all the back and forth going on, here’s my take on things - take it or leave it:

1. The vax does NOT stop you from getting or spreading the virus. Also, since vaccinated people do not have to wear mask in most areas, they may contribute to the spread just as much as the un-jabbed. I also know there are a lot of un-vaxed people “pretending to be vaxed” and that certainly doesn’t help things either.

2. The media only gives you one side of the story. Yes there is a TON of misinformation out there but there is also a lot of suppressed information. In science and medicine, there is never a 100% agreement and this is no different. The doctors and scientists who are critical of the vaccine and who suggest other treatments are being silenced. Even as someone who believes in the vaccine, I can’t agree with the fact that the media refuses to show any opposing sides from medical professionals and scientists.

3. To go along with the previous point, there are scientists and doctors showing evidence that due to the way the vaccine does not fully prevent infection (called a “leaky vaccine”), those who are vaccinated and come into contact with Covid can actually contribute to variants. Personally I believe Delta and other variants are a combination of factors and no one group is fully to blame.

4. The vaccine does work great for reducing symptoms and it is a good idea for people at high risk. However, more data is coming out that the vaccine effectiveness wears off quite fast. Another reason why this war between the jabbed and un-jabbed is getting pointless.

Again, I stand for neither side. I support vaccines and I also support people choosing not to get it. There’s more I could say but I’m sure even this will make some people angry.

If I can say one more thing it’s this: United we stand but divided we fall. The amount of hate I have seen from both sides is gross.
Wow , a logical post not taking sides. YOur Sir, (or Miss) get an appluad. Divide and conquer seems to be in full effect.

Since I'm in this thread, and there are so many scientists and doctors in here, could someone please explain to me why it's not advised to overuse anti-bacterial soaps and antibiotics?
I’m not a doctor or a scientist, but I do know this one!

First off, if your talking about using anti bacterial products to combat COVID, COVID is a virus, so anti bacterials (which as the name suggests target bacteria) would be useless.

Secondly, as far as overuse goes, the human body’s health relies on a healthy micro biome of helpful (non-pathogenic) bacteria. Any time antibiotics are used they will destroy your micro biome along with the harmful bacteria, which puts your immune system at risk until it is restored. (This takes time, probiotics can help speed it up) It’s sort of like how chemo therapy for cancer weakens your entire body because there’s no way to target only the cancer cells.

Thirdly, the more often antibiotics are used, the more bacterial variants will develop resistance against them, become “super-bugs”. In essence, the more antibiotics are used, the less effective they’ll become.

This last reason is why doctors these days will rarely prescribe antibiotics unless you have a confirmed bacterial infection or are in a high risk situation. (Like surgery)

The next 5-6m will be the most critical since the beginning. The virus is currently under tremendous evolutionary pressure to break out and become vaccine resistant to the current mRNA. There will be a time when a completely new sequencing will be required. Then we will be back to November 2019 X10.

People really need to stop referring to this as a Pandemic. It's now Endemic. If people are really interested in science I would be watching what is currently going on in Iran. It's worse than India. My bet is the next Spike Mutation comes out of Iran and will be far more deadly than Delta.

If the majority of Americans were vaccinated, the variants would have less of an impact. And yes, rich nations need to do more to help others get the vaccine. It will help them, and ultimately us.
I'd like to see more people get vaccinated. But we cannot force them. It's too dangerous for kids and it's deadly for certain people.

The biggest problem is that we had leading democrats saying last year that they wouldn't trust the vaccines. And now they say we should trust the vaccines. That's not a mixed message, not at all!
I’ve been told the vaccinated are passing this as well…and a majority of Americans are vaccinated. 70% of people over 18 are vaccinated
Yep, so that sounds like a majority to me.

Maybe we need vaccine vigilantes. Jab the antivaxxers while they sleep
That's a good way to get yourself killed. People do own dogs, guns, knives, and baseball bat, don't you know.

Exposed? Everyday you are exposed to something unless you live in fear and chose to stay locked up in your home. Stop shutting things down and ruining financial lives of people.
You're absolutely right. I heard a story about a woman who was carrying on about masks or something, all the while puffing away on a ciggie or maybe it was a vape.

I'm going to go out right now and eat some raw fish! Or maybe just go to a nearby cow pasture and just take a bite out of a cow. Rawr! 😈

Hope everyone that works there fares OK, and those that visited just before.
Sometimes I jest, but I actually do share in your sentiment.

652,000 dead and counting…..
Fake news. Even Dr. Fauxi has a fake name.
Ok. Close the stores indefinitely then.

people shouldn’t be “bribed” into getting breathed upon by people who just got off a flying bus with 200 unvaxxed people so they can buy a homepod
They can breathe on me. I'm actually more concerned that they don't wash their hands after using the toilet!
If everyone was vaccinated then there would be no argument….
Even vaccination rates for Polio, which is far more deadly, never reached anything close to 100%. You should brainstorm a better idea.
Don’t think there’s a trillion dollars sitting in a chest just to be doled out...
You're right, there's not.

Yes, and guess what? That's less than 1 percent of the total population of the United States. I don't want to sound glib, but are you seriously going to let a tiny fraction of a percent ruin everyone else's life and dictate how the rest of the nation should act? I would hope not. It sucks that that people have to say goodbye to their loved ones, but life moves on.
It's not like we haven't had to do that throughout the history of humans. Maybe the lucky ones just get killed by volcanoes. The victims of the Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD may have gotten cooked in their sleep, but at least they didn't have to wear 10 feet of masks for months on end while listening to all the screeching!

In the words of one Yoda, "Death is a natural part of life." Live your life to the fullest, and if it's your time to go, it's your time to go.
Yoda was a wise master.

Your math is flawed because the denominator includes people who haven’t been infected. When you just include people who are infected, it’s around 1%. Which doesn’t sound like a lot, but I bet you wouldn’t go on a roller coaster where you have a 99% chance of living
I did. Repeatedly. And I survived. Oh wait, did I?

No pulse, no pulse!

Oh no, nevermind, I was checking my knee. Yep, there's a pulse in my neck and another one in my wrist. I think I survived. Actually, I've survived a lot in my life. Here are just a few things I survived:

* The Three Stooges
* Godzilla and Rhodan movies
* The Addams Family
* Boy Scouts
* Tang
* The government's "food pyramid"
* Government schooling
* Two college degrees
* A hurricane
* The Brady Bunch and Little House on the Prairie.
* Seeing prairie dogs.
* Hearing Prairie Prince on drums.
* A Meat Loaf concert, an Atlanta Rhythm concert, and 2 Peter Gabriel concerts
* 35 Ted Talks on YouTube
* A day in California
* A week in NYC, with 2 taxi rides in same
* Being on two juries
* Paying taxes...something around a half mill by now, and this damned country is STILL broke!
* The Carter administration and 12% inflation
* Tiny Tim on television (that was especially traumatic)
* The Sonny and Cher variety show
...and the rise and fall of Saturday Night Live.

Not me. I hate all government intrusion. Government screws up everything. Yeah, even more than Hollywood!
Deaths from pandemics tend to get people in such a tizzy.
Not as much as somebody saying they don't believe the fake doctor, the fake President, or the incompetent...oh, nevermind!

lol every anti-Vaxxer is getting dumped on here and they are getting seriously butthurt to the point of writing a dissertation they downloaded from Prager and Ben Shapiro
Shapiro, like me, is pro vax. If you don't know this, then you haven't even listened to him.

The opposition is to the overreach of letting government take away all of your choice and agency as a human.

They can breathe on me. I'm actually more concerned that they don't wash their hands after using the toilet!
This! I can’t stand it when I notice people walk out of a public bathroom without washing! If you ask me, it constitutes a sufficient reason to do away with handshakes forever.

We should hold off on enforcing pandemic protocols until after we’ve enforced basic hygiene!

Man so many people spouting opinions like they are facts while being totally wrong, it’s no wonder why the world is turning to ****.
Oh, you're playing with us, right? I mean, "SFjohn" (San Francisco) and "****" (meaning, um... poo, right?)

Well played, good sir, humor linking human excrement to a geographic location that actually suffers badly from it; maybe even worse than all of the rest of the US put together.

Comedy is less about the poo and almost all about the timing!

The biggest problem is that we had leading democrats saying last year that they wouldn't trust the vaccines. And now they say we should trust the vaccines. That's not a mixed message, not at all!

I'm curious...Who are these "leading democrats" and what exactly did they say?

Providing a link to their direct quotes from a credible news source would be great. Thanks!

I hope you don't mind hearing others telling you "live your life to the fullest" when you get into an accident and no hospital can take you in because they're too busy taking care of COVID patients (hint: this is happening right now in Missouri)

What the heck man, no one is overreaching. You all act like someone is going to give you a colonoscopy when it’s two needles. That’s it. Most places don’t even hassle you about the mask.
Also Shapiro is disgusting. The fact you even listen to him makes me question your views.

I live here. with regard to the tight labor market, there is more to the story than just pay. downtown charleston is a headache to get to every day. housing costs an absolute fortune and parking is expensive. I would not make that commute and deal with that hassle for $30 an hour.

Also, many people are vaccinated here. This is a more progressive city and not the backwards south stereotype it as
