South Bay resident here too, but having it delivered to my home. Didn't want to take chances at the CC. Most likely the CC you are talking about is located on S 7th St, correct?

I understand where you are coming from, and it took a great leap of faith for me to switch to "hold for pickup" a few years ago. But it has been flawless so far, major knock on wood.

The way I look at it: If anything, holding at a CC makes it LESS likely for a screw up. The CC is probably at the same hub your local delivery vans use. Using a "hold" takes away a major source of issues - transferring to/from trucks.

Also - if the truck coming from OAK to your local hub gets delayed, all the packages on board may miss the delivery vans that leave early in the morning. You may have to wait the weekend for the next truck. However, if the package is being held at the CC, you can still get it the same day even if delayed.

for anyone in the MSP area, there's a flight - UPS2560 - scheduled to head out a few minutes ago but it appears to be delayed as of this moment. I still don't have a departure scan yet. I'm sure that'll come through eventually.

just dig through a bunch of pages to find your post. thanks!!

looks like it landed some 20 minutes ago in MSP.

no departure scan for me either..

I don't think we have definitive proof that it's not in order of when the orders were placed. I ordered mine at about 2:15am central as soon as I got access to the Apple store app - but I also have iUP, AT&T and pre-approved myself earlier in the week so who knows.
Yeah you’re right on there not being any definitive proof. I got on the Apple store site (first thing available to open at 3:18) and was issued my confirmation order email by 3:22 am (eastern time so 22 mins in). Not on iUP, but AT&T 256 GB silver, paid in full. Was just getting my hopes up, after seeing all the bumped up delivery windows, that mine would’ve fallen in line with that by now (6:14 pm Eastern). Guess not. Just really hoping it gets here before thanksgiving, like the 11/17-11/24 basically implies.

Nope. The local CC closest to me is in Sunnyvale. Pretty easy for me to get to and not too busy. This will be the 4th "launch day" pick up there for me so pretty excited about it. I need it to make it to Oakland and then drive from Oakland to Sunnyvale CC and it should be ready to pick-up by tomorrow morning. Much better than last year when I had to wait the weekend because my 7 Plus was delayed from the Super Typhoon in Taiwan so it missed the launch day arrival. UPS made up for it by having Saturday delivery at no extra charge, but I had changed it for pick-up at the CC so had to wait until Monday. BTW, saw your pic of Valley Fair. Are you sure there aren't any lines as of today? Seems odd to me, but usually their lines start outside where people camp out and they walk them into the mall in the morning.

I didn't check around the mall, who has the time for that? Also, the mall is being renovated so it is quite a mess...usually people line up near the information desk on the left side of the store...

On a side note, I just spoke to Apple about when my order was placed and they mentioned that it was placed at 4:20am Eastern?!?!? I remember for sure placing my figure on the TouchID sensor to complete the transaction around 12:05-ish am Pacific...making it 3:05am Eastern...

Something isn't right....

Edit:
Figured it out:
  • Order placed at: 12:04AM Pacific
  • Order completed processing at: 4:20am Eastern aka 1:20AM Pacific
In other words, it took Apple 1 hr and 15 minutes to process my order and complete it...wow!

Yes you can. It’s what I do every year.

I called and there is a CC near my house. So I had it set to be delivered there for pickup.
Very cool, glad I don't have to sweat about not being able to be home all day tomorrow. I can just run and grab it when it's there. Hopefully it's first thing in the morning!

My in store pickup order status just updated to ready for pickup between 6 and 6:30. Was showing Order in Progress since placing the order until about 20 minutes ago.
