I tried doing this... SATURDAY There was a phone, my config, at my local store. I should have purchased for pickup, right then and there. I instead decided to go to the Apple Store... Within the 10 minutes between leaving the house and getting to the store, it was gone. I learned a lesson. That was my one and only chance. The only thing that has come up since then, was the 64GB models.

I debated going 64GB. I could have done it, needs over wants. However was convinced to stick with 256GB.

I am disappointed there wasn't a 128GB model. Last year it was 128GB/256GB. It's messed up that this year it's 64GB/256GB. I know the up-sell factor. $999/$1099/$1199 seems to better to me. At least Apple split the cost of 256GB upgrade with us, at $1149.

I tried exactly what you did and also did not get a phone. this and the fact that my order status did not change once since 10/27 compelled me to cancel my order. my local store had availability - i even have a screenshot of it - but my order was still valid so i could not reserve another phone for the same phone number i used.

so my strategy - i cancelled my order yesterday and im using istocknow's browser alerts to tell me when my config is available in my area. i like gambling so i took the risk and cancelled my order. no looking back :)

re the size - go for the 256gb. better quality pics+video = hog more space. so i think it's better to be safe than sorry.

i am itching to get my hands on one too but not to the detriment of my overall satisfaction of using the phone long term :)

good luck my friend.

Phone finally has started shipping for me but is currently sitting in Shanghai. Original estimate was 17-24, got pushed to 20-27 and now has a 11/16 delivery date. Everyone I have seen on here so far seems to have gone from Zhengzhou straight to Korea. Anyone else have a layover in Shanghai?

Mine now says the same thing. In 11/17-11/24 shipment group, and although it says "Shipment in transit - delayed" on the Apple.com site with a "Delivers November 20, 2017", UPS tracking says :

Scheduled Delivery:

Wednesday, 11/15/2017 , By End of Day
Go with ups tracking. That is probably more accurate.

Looking back a bunch of pages it really does seem like I am the only one who has seen their phone be in Shanghai. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing but leaning towards bad.

At least Apple split the cost of 256GB upgrade with us, at $1149.

Um, more like Apple passed the costs and more straight onto us. The only splitting Apple is doing are those profits amongst the executives. I would hardly consider being charged $1,149 for a phone as being given a bone by them

My phone was supposed to deliver today but has had setbacks. It's now stuck in limbo in KY with no clear delivery date anymore. For some reason it went from Alaska to Kentucky but I'm in California. So bizarre.

Space Gray 256 ATT - order placed around 316am, has been in 17 to 24 group - just went Preparing for Shipment and CC was charged. Progress.

i am also in the same status. i am sure this has to do with apple trying to save more money on delivery charges.

Just a heads up, the phone sitting on the tarmac, or in a pallet has nothing to do with Apple. They paid for UPS Worldwide Expedited, which is 4-5 business days, please note UPS Business Days are Monday to Friday, so that if your phone, like mine shipped on 11/6 a monday, it is expected to arrive on a Friday, as it ended up doing, but in the interim it sat on a tarmac for two days in Incheon/Zhengzhou, and waited for multiple rounds of customs review. UPS has a plan for everything, which is why once it leaves Incheon, it will get to you very quickly because all the hurdles are gone.

Apple could have paid for UPS Worldwide Express which is 1-2 business days, but the cost is about 4x higher, even with their discount(s), which are sure to be astronomical.

Waiting does indeed suck

iPhone X delivered!
Ordered @ 12:16AM Oct/27
Scheduled delivery estimate: 17/Nov -> 24/Nov
Actual Delivery: 11/Nov [Only one week after the iPhone X was released] .
Lesson learned: Disregard UPS tracking information -- they will get it to your door on-time.
Thanks for the fun guys! Hope you all get your phones soon.

This is Apple throwing you a bone...the shipper is the only one that can ask for Saturday Delivery and UPS charges an additional $40 bucks*probably have a discounted rate, but Apple had to reach out to them...

Louisville is the UPS Superhub. Everything routes through Louisville to be sorted to the destination hub. Hopefully you will receive tomorrow.

Phone finally made it to my CC. I called the number to get it set up for will call instead of delivery on Monday. Going to get the phone in a couple of hours.

I called apple to try and convert my online order to a store pickup. Lady was nice but we ended up loosing my order all together. She said she thought she had it on hold. Fun stuff.

Anyone know what time the apple stores update inventory?

welcome to my current hell, friend.

the general concensus on this forum is that the store updates at midnight and 6am-ish in the mornings.

i did the same as you - had an online order, but i purposely cancelled it yesterday. now im on the hunt for a phone myself.

good luck and use istocknow.com to babysit inventory.

I'm hoping any Apple store in the northern 2/3rds of Ohio restock. I have 5 to pick from in a 1.5 hour distance.

I got a 64 gig by mistake(delivered today). I can't find a 256 to save my life. I actually had one in my cart 2 days ago(Summit Mall Store) by the time I hit order I got an error message that it was't available. I'm in Ohio too.

I was calling apple at the same time Polaris, Easton and Summit had full stock. I honestly should have just let it go

Whelp, mine has arrived! Pretty impressed at how fast UPS got the phone from Korea to Manhattan once it cleared customs. Best of luck to everyone still waiting!
