Yeah but Apple is pretty respectful in terms of dealing with current events. So I also wouldn’t doubt if this change would help they would do it.
I guess I struggle to understand how early release helps anything for the carriers. They still have the exact same number of stops to make. Spreading out over multiple days still equates to the same number of deliveries.

if the carriers are struggling to keep employees then maybe, but I would think they have probably actually increased staff in the last few months due to the likely increase in home deliveries overall due to Covid.
Actually it seems that UPS has stopped guaranteeing any deliveries.

Spreading the packages over multiple days means that volume can be balanced across multiple days instead of making a large amount of deliveries in one day (and also risking missing multiple deliveries that day that have to be pushed out to the next day).

They already have normal scheduled volume on Friday, and might be stretched at best. The Apple pre-orders are only going to add to that pain if those are all scheduled for Friday delivery routes.

But what I’m saying is they spread them out over 3 days rather them shipping phones over all week holding them and then having all of them to delivery Friday. Sure same number of stops yes but not all in one day. Apple could have said Friday and it I’ll be there by Friday but maybe they are doing it a bit earlier to spread out the load. Samsung does that with their phones they say you will get it BY release day but it’s normally a day or 2 sooner.

There is no guarantee for delivery on release day anymore due to Covid. So my belief is that Apple still has the delivery embargo as they have every yearand the soonest any phone should deliver is Friday. Whether the carriers get them all delivered on that day is something only the carrier has to worrry about. With the guarantee removed, they suffer nothing financially if they have to stretch them out.

Some will definitely get their phones early, it happens every year. But my prediction is that most of us will get them on Friday.

Might Apple throw a bone to the carriers and say “deliver them whenever”? Sure, but I highly doubt it.
We shall all know for sure Nina few days! ?

We don’t know what agreement Apple has with UPS. The delivery guarantee is for money back. Apple is a big customer and UPS usually does extra to make sure release day items are on time.

But maybe UPS told Apple that they can’t say everyone will get it on release day and they decided to start a bit early.

Mine deliver date just went from information unavailable to 10/21/20 by end of day
Same mine just came back with 10/21 8:30am-12:30pm. Yes I know it’s just that a “request” but usually if there is a hold date on the shipment that wouldn’t have been an option for a day before said hold date.

Saying that we won’t have an earlier delivery this year because it didn’t happen last year means nothing. This year is its own year with its own circumstances that we haven’t seen before.
You’re just spamming the board with this
It’s not about delivering them faster it’s about not pilling them up and saving them for 1 day.
When you’re super busy at work (I assume you work...) do you get your work done sooner or later as it piles up? When demand exceeds capacity, a delay occurs.

To be fair to others. Reality and fact is each and every year the UPS system marks tue/wed and each year they deliver friday as per schedule. There are cases of early delivery but marginal .00001 of cases.

Ive had the same delivery guy during the past 3 years who's job that day is to only delivery the iphones. We joke about it every year I see him. He told me that on Thursday's he makes store deliveries and Friday's are residential. But that can be different per area.
