I also think a lot of the phones have actually been in the UPS warehouses for at least a few days because AT&T has already shipped the one i got for my wife. FedEx is holding it for friday delivery.

This 100%! Several of my past phones were like this then all the sudden on Thursday night you'd see all the previous scans magically appear. I definitely think in some cases this is what happens. I wouldn't fret if you don't see any scans or your phone just chilling then it all the sudden be in your UPS local warehouse and had a wonderful travel the past few days without you knowing!

I think by Friday all the scans will prevailed.

Umm, you don't say? I'm not new to this so thanks for updating me on something I have known for years. I think you missed the point. Phones have been in the US for at least a few days.
No they have not, We all had Origin Scan straight from China.

if the phones were already in US, we would not be getting the tracking number till this Thursday. I ordered an iPad as well and it’s coming from US warehouse not overseas.

If you have a phone coming from a carrier there is no shipping info from China. And for AT&T they ship FedEx, not UPS. I'm not referring to phones ordered from Apple.

It could be both, I guess. There are a bunch of people who haven't gotten tracking numbers yet. We'll have to keep an eye on whether they end up shipping from China or not. It certainly could be China, I've had it go from original tracking number on thursday to delivered on Friday.

If people don’t have the tracking numbers yet. I’m 99% sure their iPhones are already in states sitting at a warehouse or Apple stores.

The preparing for shipment isn’t accurate, you can confirm by using your phone number as reference number in UPS tracking. It will tell you that it’s in transit but won’t give the details.
