I was under the impression that restoring a backup to a new iPhone was like migrating from a time machine backup for Mac. All the data and preferences gets transferred but OS and apps are freshly installed, leaving the junk behind.

WiFi passwords get synced over iCloud across your devices, so I wouldn’t worry about that

On a side note, I was actually able to get my delivery address changed while the phone was sitting in Louisville, KY. My original delivery address was in Maryland where I live, but I was out in Saint George, Utah visiting my fiancee during the delivery period.

I called Apple and a very nice young lady told me she'd do her best. I noticed that my phone's status in Louisville changed for a couple of hours as the box was apparently pulled and relabeled. It arrived in Saint George right on time.

I doubt I could ever get that done again! :D

Maybe because I ordered mine through VZW... I assure you as I am looking at the order, it is an IPPM12. I even see my IMEI.

I finally got the shipping info to show up on My UPS! But looks like I’m still in China since 11/08 920pm - unless the information hasn’t fully loaded yet.

You should be posting in the Verizon thread then as you ordered through Verizon. This thread is for Apple.com orders ;)

Great news for those of us whose phones left Anchorage ages ago, I found them!

Might have already been covered in the thread, but it's a longgggg thread:)

I'm planning on doing a restore from a Mac to set up the new phone .... My current phone and backup is on IOS 14.2 and I understand the new phone is on IOS 14.1.

What's the consensus on needing to set up and update the new phone to 14.2, then erase and do the restore. Or will the update start first before starting the restore.

The instructions on Apple Support say "you might see an error that the backup can't be restored because software on your device is too old". Don't want to brick this thing.

Mine still shows the preparing for shipment with an estimated delivery date of Friday the 13th. Sigh
You're fine - that's exactly what it should show at this point. I've probably posted this 100 times in this thread by now - you won't change to "Shipped" in your Apple order until your phone clears customs in Louisville and is en route to the hub for it's final destination. That won't happen until later today or tomorrow. If you have a free UPS MyChoice account you should see your full tracking from China there.

Update the new phone first if it’s running 14.1. I’ve bricked one before lol. That was also years ago so it might be fine but why risk it
