I always like to start with a clean slate. Also I have a lot of junk on my phone, it helps me prioritize what I want to download on my phone and what I want to keep off
This is part of why I'm doing my first fresh install after carrying over backups every phone. I have so many apps that I don't care to delete. Given the choice to download those apps...I'll pass on a lot of them.

Plus I still have a weird bug from a jailbroken app from my iphone 5 that never goes away. A blank app icon randomly appears every now and then and I've deleted it 100 times, but it never fails to show up.

It's time to start fresh and just carry over the stuff that backs up to icloud.

If you guys ever visit Las Vegas and love sea food. Don’t forget to visit these 2 restaurants. BOMB!!! Worth it. highly recommended.

We have one in DC and Falls Church, VA. I have yet to try it, but it’s on my list of places to try. On another note, I had seafood at this place called Riptide in Baltimore, MD on Halloween, and the food was worth the $122.37 I spent.

Doesn't everything backup to icloud?

I always restore from the encrypted backup on my MBP. Syncs more info than iCloud. I know I should do a fresh install but I don’t have the patience.

I used to do that, but the last couple of years, iCloud has sync’d over everything for me (except Photos: I do a manual iTunes sync for that). I’ve gotten to the point where I feel that a fresh install doesn’t do much of anything for me unless I have a noticeable problem. YMMV

Yes, this. The first couple of years of restoring from icloud backup were awful and painful, but these days there's really no better way to do it. It restores everything a physical iTunes encrypted backup does.
I finally ponied up 99 cents for the 50gb since I'm tinkering with moving my photos to iCloud (thanks Google Photos, for no more unlimited storage next year after 13 years of using you). This was my first iCloud backup this week of my old phone.

What do I do with my iCloud backup that's out there now if I want to set up as new (but keep my Apple Watch activities/workouts and Health) -- do I just set up phone as new and let iCloud do a sync and it's all magically there?

Also dumb question #2 - is it unpair Watch from old phone, pair watch to new phone? Or "set up as new Apple Watch" as well on the new device and let iCloud re-sync?

REALLY want a fresh setup this year rather than the years of iTunes encrypted backups I've been doing. I have too many unused apps. Time to clean house.

But the bugs and glitches transfers over. It’s not a clean fresh. I prefer setting up as new and then turning on the iCloud.
Yeah, but I’m at the point where going through setting up every little thing after a fresh install just isn’t worth it unless I have a noticeable problem. I fully support your fresh install, though, if it works well for you. 😊

I unpair my watch then reset and set it up as new too

I was hoping I could pick a 2 hr window for delivery on Friday, since I am a premium member. However, I still don’t have the ability. It must be removed on launch day delivery.

I’m a premium member and I don’t think I will have the option as well so I called the Access Locker number at my CC and they requested for it be held. A rep at the CC called me to confirm that I wanted it held for pickup.
