Breathing a small sigh of relief, lol. Apple is no longer showing a delay (for now)! Praying for mercy to the Apple and UPS gods, lol.

Anybody else bought sim free i12PM? what is your carrier, other than ATT, t-mobile and Verizon?

our carrier is Cricket which owned by ATT. that being said, we use their tower. we’re really happy with them, signal is excellent, affordable and low price, ($90 for 3 lines monthly). It just sucks we won’t be able to have access to 5g yet although we have coverage here in chicago.
I'm on Google Fi. I switched after being completely screwed over by AT&T for something ridiculous. I hardly use data since I'm almost always on wifi, so my bill's only about $25/month. I get good coverage where I am, and it looks like 5G is also fine in my neighborhood!

ETA: They also love sending me free stuff every few months. I have about 5 unopened Google home minis right now. Hello, Christmas presents. ?

Two scheduled flights showed up from UPS. One is departing in 2 hours and the other is departing in 13 hours. I'm 99% sure my iPhone will be on the 2nd flight which is scheduled to depart 13 hours. Still waiting for KY scan and Import scan.

All the people in WEST COAST! I'm 99% sure your iPhone will be traveling over night again. It be will get a destination scan at your hub location by 08:00AM tomorrow morning.

We had a major delay in China which is causing all this but no need to panic. We will arrive to the destination tomorrow. Mark my words please.

This is not a time to get drunk. We still have a long way of traveling ahead of us.

Some of us already moved out, so we're off potentially without the late ZZ crew. Guess it'll just be a West Coast party in Ontario with people trickling in.

I think our iPhones left Alaska together. Do you see an arrival in Louisville already?

ugh. What date and time did you place your order?
10 minutes into the preorders opening.

I think what screwed me over is that it was a business purchase so they had to validate my VAT number ?‍♂️
The guy on the phone swore that wouldn't make me lose my "place in line", but as soon as they confirmed my company was legit (three days later ?‍♂️) my estimate went from Nov 13 to Nov 16-23 over the span of a day.

I'm never preordering as a business again lmao

Even phones going to Mexico make a stop in Louisville first, interesting. I feel like there’s a more efficient way they can do it. By the way, I’d suggest hiding your tracking #
Every UPS package to Mexico goes to Louisville first!

I can't seem to change the delivery to hold at my local hub. I can change it to the UPS store but not the hub...? anyone able to hold it at the hub?

They won’t hold at the distribution hub. Only at the customer center where your package normally gets loaded on the truck for delivery. Call into the international number and request a hold for your package at your local customer center. They will see which one it is in their system.

EDIT: Saw the later response. Thread is moving fast now, lol

I've been on Google FI for years and LOVE it. Pre-covid, I traveled overseas 1-2x per month. Fi's unlimited full speed LTE everywhere is a lifesaver. That said, for the past year, I've used FI as a "secondary" line on my current Pixel 4XL as an eSim. Awesome thing about FI is you can "pause" the service and pay $0 when you aren't using it.

Back in Jan I was still on my iPhone XS Max. I went on a business trip to India. At the time, I was testing my primary number on an eSim in my XS Max, and had a Physical FI sim. I had Verizon as the Calls/SMS line, and FI as the data line. The iPhone's dual sim "wifi calling over cellular" feature was awesome! I was able to make and receive calls/sms, and it used my FI data to make it like a wifi call. So basically, I was charged zero roaming fees by Verizon since FI took the brunt of my usage while there. Unfortunately for me (and my airline status) that was the last overseas trip (if you don't count Hawaii) that I took this year. :(

I've since tried the Combo of FI and:
  • Verizon Postpaid
  • Visible (Verizon MVNO)
  • AT&T
  • T-Mobile
  • Sprint (because on Pixel 4XL FI can use T-Mo/Sprint/US cellular).

Anyway, FI is a great companion service on iPhone. As a primary service it is a bit annoying at times. When I used it as primary on iPhone for the past 3 years (even before they officially supported it) things like Wifi calling not working, group SMS messages and mms not working, and the non-integration of visual voicemail were annoyances. These annoyances were more than offset by the convenience and cost savings though.

Word of warning, FI is NOT for data hogs!! When I'm not overseas I'm working from home on wifi, so I use very little data on average.
