Apple today discontinued the MacBook Air with the M1 chip, which launched in November 2020 as one of the first Apple silicon Macs.

In the U.S., the MacBook Air lineup now consists of the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip starting at $999, the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip starting at $1,099, and the 15-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip starting at $1,299.

I think they just stop the production of it - makes sense of course.

However, I really prefer the wedge-design over the newer one.
So do I. I find the wedge shape to be iconic of the series and I'm not a fan of the newer model with the display notch, and also having no branding on the front bothers me. I like the classic look of the M1, it's almost timeless.
 
If you bought this on release and it still runs fine… you still have 5 years of support for it in terms of hardware at least. Almost 10 years of life…. If you get a battery replacement (from Apple) mid way… you really have gotten yourself a really amazing value computer for general computing. Ibet most of us are relieved it doesn't have butterfly keyboard… 😂
