This is a hardware event. But the issue with iPad Pro isn’t hardware it’s software. Kind of disjointed since any new software (except maybe specific to the new pencil) won’t be announced until WWDC.

Now that iPad Pro has an M4, so many people will be skipping the M3 and will wait for M4 in MacBooks. Maybe Apple can annouce them at WWDC

M4 might have some very specific and unique (but Apple will not explain in public) chip-design / performance / feature etc., so Apple decides to test it on iPad Pro instead of on those upcoming Macs, just guessing...
