It lags therefore it isn't a step forward for 7's. All the rest is just noise
Send the feedback to Apple through the feedback app. Plenty on Reddit have done so and the more the entrries sent, higher the chance of it getting fixed. We all need to keep reminding the engineers of this issue otherwise we may just get another update bringing more animojis with nothing for the older devices.

Yep, that’s all older devices get is Animoji s. Congrats you’ve succinctly captured the essence of every Apple iOS upgrade and the focus of their 60,000 software engineers.

Oh silly me for expecting my batter life and hardware speed to at least not deteriorate over time. Those 60,000 software engineers still haven't fixed the damn battery life which is still a miserable 7 hours on my 7 Plus. Add in the home button delay and as far as I am concerned they aren't even trying. So you'll excuse me if I think the emojis are all what I see in these updates.

You can be as tunnel vision as you desire.:p I do t know if Apple will specifically fix your problems but im sure will fix problems on a priority basis.

Color me Skeptical, but I'll believe you... There are many who say ios 11 has degraded the 7's performance.

The only thing I can think of upgrading for is the one finger zooming on maps....

I will say that right before iOS 11 launched I had a corrupted 10.3.3 update that forced me to wipe the phone and start from scratch. So maybe a clean install of iOS 11 is what makes my iPhone 7 so great with the OS

I bet he does not consider this home button delay at all. And I agree with him to an extent.

I don't have a home button delay!

The only reason to upgrade to iOS 11 for me is the fresh new design but it comes with a severe performance penalty and a drastic reduction in battery life(almost half battery life compared to iOS 10.3.3)

iOS 11.1 is pretty stable on my 7 Plus. More than happy with the performance. It’s actually pretty good. What I don’t like is the crappy battery life.

On iOS 10 I used to get 10+ hours of usage. Now, I’m lucky to get 8. It’s pathetic.

The only other problem I have is the home button lag, but it’s not going to go away, so I’m learning to live with it...

Severe?

Yes. I don't get that "light on its feet" which I used to get on iOS 10 and which I currently get on my iPad Pro. The stutters have reduced and are minimal but it still seems like it's not handling the OS like a champ like it used to with iOS 10.

Battery health will also now take a nosedive this year. I used to charge by battery once every 1.5 days on iOS 10 and by the end of the year my battery health is 98%. Now I am charging it twice a day so iOS 11 is going to end up destroying my battery in 2018. Yet another form of planned obsolescence.

Kind of like it was "severe" in the early days of iOS 10, to then become a "champ" later?

As for battery, it does seem like you got hit harder with that. It doesn't seem that typical to be to such a degree, although certainly some others experience it too to a similar degree. Without any actual reasoning known for it, there's certainly nothing to say it's some sort of a conspiracy, except for personal conjecture essentially.

Yeah, not upgrading until I read reports of "same as 10.3.3" in performance and battery life

Huh, never thought it like that.

This is a great thread to read while I’m pooping. :D
Why this thread? I exclusively read iPad while pooping. I am thinking of creating a permanent wall mount in my WC.
Hell the whole world does it. But they forget sanitizer after use.

If they ignore it, it just confirms what I have been saying all along.
Confirms your theory and a series of time-bound facts. Anyway, I bet you will not like iPhone X app closing speed much as time goes on. I tried, somehow faster but could be much slower because gesture is prone to error.

I didnt think like that as well until recently when I replaced my iPhone 6 battery. That iPhone 6 was easily lasting a day on iOS 8. Upgraded to iOS 9 and I had to charge the phone 2-3 times a day. iOS 10 remedied some of that but the battery was already wrecked by then. I had to get the battery replaced by Apple out of warranty and had to fork out cash. That's when it hit me whether Apple could intentionally do something like this to make more money.

Take the 7 Plus for instance. Why am I seeing screenshots of 8 Plus users with 80% battery life after 6 hours of use and 6 hours idle? I am seeing 14 hours of use and 32 hours of standby as standard battery life based on the posts here. My 7 Plus is getting 7-8 hours usage max with 16 hours of standby and thats after nervbously looking at the % dropping by the minute once it gets below 50%. The kicker being that my 7 Plus actually has a bigger battery than the 8 Plus. I already checked my battery health in Coconut Battery and its at 97-98%.iOS 11 is depreciating my battery at a faster rate. There is something fishy going on here.

This is also replicated in the below test. Notice the 7 Plus drains well before the 8 Plus

The limited time I spent with it I loved the gestures. Seemed very responsive to me. Apple just needs to make it bigger. 6.4 is what I need.

If you're living with a partner (especially of the fairer sex) you don't want to do that, trust me. I tried it, had to tear to damn thing down after a couple of weeks.

Apparently the better half wasn't all that happy with me practically moving in there. Strange creature, that one. I'm willing to concede that the makeshift fashion in which I assembled it could maybe be described as an eye sore, but hey, it wasn't there to be looked at. Function over form, is what I say and I stand by it.

No problems from any family member here.

My iPP and and the iPhone 7 Plus that I replaced with my X last week are still running just as fine, zero slowdown on the home button/TouchID and zero battery degradation.

Stop trying to see conspiracies where they don’t exist.

LMAO they are not conspiracies. See the video proof on first page. The delay is really there when you compare Home Button response between iOS 10 and iOS 11. I used an iPhone X and I can say with 100% certainty that this delay was introduced in iOS 11 to show iPhone X to be faster than all other iDevices with Home Button. I have filed numerous bug reports and I even called up Apple Care. They said that since they are unaware of this issue, the Home button response is "As intended".

This is not a bug which many Apple Apologists are claiming to be. It is a deliberate adjustment which clearly means Planned Obsolescence.

I get it that it's a very tiny thing. But I was very surprised (and little amused) that people here got offended and tried to defend/justify Apple's actions and dismiss this topic.

The fact: when pressing home button (physical or solid) to return to home screen, there is a somehow noticeable delay.
The theory: this slowdown on all devices with home button reflects apple’s intention to promote the latest hardware, iPhone X, and eventually devices without home button.

This is why I detest Apple’s update policy. I can’t downgrade my OS. Google allows this with their Pixel devices. Google almost had a sale here if they hadn’t developed such a lifeless display. I actually miss my Google Nexus days and wanted to get back in. I am now stuck with a slow phone till my X arrives. My battery life is below average as well and I am not enjoying my 7 Plus the slightest.

I didn’t have any problems with my 7 Plus when it was released. It was running iOS 10 stupendously all through the iOS 10 life cycle.

The battery life is a joke. I got the Plus partly because it lasted more than a day easily and now I have to charge it twice a day. Such an annoyance. And judging from my prior experience with the 6 it will never be as good as it once was. So it’s not a conspiracy but a fact that Apple is affecting the battery health on my device.

apple is secretive and trolls around. there has got to be a reason this fits their business image.

bet there is officially NO delay, just how you hold it.
