Seems silly sure, but there are a lot of people who already have spent that much, let alone how many will. Apple is worth in the trillions for a reason. Besides, this is a new economic era, a great many consumers have a pile of cash and little is in stock to spend it on, so if you can provide a fun shiny new electronic, even for two grand, you're going to sell it.

Do you know how many people have said that as they winded down the road of credit card debt...people will justify anything but this has become over the top...why do you think they take the year off models? As soon as lots configure the brand new head back to get the last year’s model ...sorry not there now...we got you lol

For 11” iPad Pro 1tb (to get 16gb ram)
WiFi+cellular
Applecare

no case
No keyboard
No pencil

Just because you have lost your mind doesn’t mean I have...seriously who would pay that price?

That was already the price back in 2018 and they only gave a measly 6GB RAM back then. ??‍♀️

Mind, is that Canadian pricing or something?

US price
$1699 2021 iPad Pro 11-inch 1TB 5G
$129 AppleCare+
$1828 Total before tax

When you have basically 0 competition you can set the price to whatever you want

I own both the 2020 (and have the M1 on the way) iPad Pros, that was after owning the 2018 and the 10.5" before it... I love my iPad Pros, LOVE them... but, I also own a Tab S7 from Samsung, and say what you want, but they've caught up. With the 120hz panels, the low frequency S-Pen input times, the new Snapdragons, etc. etc. etc. the hardware is there now, the iPad has competition, it's just most people don't think about Android as a viable alternative. In some ways it is, and in some ways it isn't, but I do think it's odd how people consider the iPad Pro so much more superior when the Tab S7 is a very serious piece of hardware.

I used to upgrade my iPad every cycle, but the prices are now approaching laptop range, and I don't upgrade my laptop every year. So I maxed out a 2021 12.9, and won't be upgrading every year anymore, unless something exceptional comes out. No more incrementals.

Oh trust me, I agree... I personally think it's a waste of money to drop two grand on an iPad Pro, thats why I bought the 256gb model, sure it's still nine hundred bucks, but I can justify that a lot easier than two thousand.

But yeah, all of these things are insane, especially when you're talking about something like an iPad Pro where except for some pretty specific use cases, the stock iPad would provide most of us with all we truly need.

Life is more complicated than all this though, people work hard, some people don't have a family to spend money on, or travel to save for, or whatever, a million different scenarios... and if those people find happiness in a new iPad, even at two grand, then by all means, let them have that happiness.

I have the 10.5 pro and I got that refurbished and works fine and saved lots of money...I use my iPad at least 4-6 hours a day depending ...I like my money

In a van down by the river
I use iPad 80% of the time over my laptop but I’m not paying that crap...I’ll wait till last years model becomes available again...I like my bank account better than supporting theirs unnecessarily
That's fine. The new iPad will sell very well even though you think the price is too high. Apple prices have always been high. That is nothing new.

It's a device which people use to make money (aka work). Do the math, you make $1k per month with this device, it's two months until it pays off an creates a profit. $500... 4 months and so on.

Problem is people want the best, even if they don't need it and then complain.

Same for the Vesa mount which isn't priced that badly. Sure you can find one for under $100, but then the screen wobbles around whenever you touch it (or the desk for that matter). Looking at high quality mounts that are actually stable, you're at $500+ from other manufacturers. You can find cheap microphone mounts for $50 and really stable ones for $300. You can buy a telescope mount for $1k to $1.5k and have issues in windy conditions or you can put down $10k+ and not have an issue. Same for the Apple XDR display for $5k/$6k and people complain about the price. Why not just buy that $35k Sony display instead that has worse specs?

Apple is targeting the pro market with this, for professionals making money with it. If that makes sense or not is another story, but that's what it is. Don't like it? Plenty of alternatives out there from Apple or other manufacturers.

Again, sticking to Apples terminology, fact is some people are not as pro as they think they are and therefore don't need their pro gear, even if they want it. Just don't buy it, problem solved. :)

You've got low sales tax. It would've been $2020 with sales tax and CA recycling fee for me.

As mentioned though, that's been the price for 11" 1TB LTE 3 years ago and you get much better hardware now. Until Apple revamps the storage lineup again, I don't see them lowering MSRP anytime soon.

I agree with what you say, this was for me and how I think..I do have to have the cellular model so that’s adds as well...but as Susie Orman always says there’s a big difference between needing something and wanting something...to many wants over needs make you poor...I added that part lol...I’m going to 3 years at least and probably will keep getting refurbished like this one I have and had zero problems with but saved lots.

If most people don’t consider android as a viable alternative, then it isn’t IMO.

also with iPadOS you have a far greater library of viable apps

Then I am happy for you... I had the 10.5 Pro years ago and loved it dearly, I still remember buying the Pencil for it and loading up Procreate the first time on the 10.5, just a whole new world. I sold it years ago but I know for a fact it holds up, for 90% of users it's still more than enough.
