The hard-of-hearing father looking at his daughter and reminiscing of her growing up his wife handing him his Air Pod 2 with the admonishment to put them on to better hear his daughter play. That is why I posted this ad the emotions of the father with the Air Pod Pro 2 shown at the end to help him love his daughter even more. Xenoako understood the ad it connects you on an emotional level while informing of the new Hearing aid feature the Airpod2 has.

No this feature is not going to take the place of a set of $2000 USD custom hearing aids but it will help.

How do you get the volume slider he has on his phone?
Pull down control center. Tap and hold the regular volume slider.
(You first need to set up the hearing aid function on your AirPods, of course.)

Also looking forward to the day when hearing-loss can be fully treated so people don't have to use hearing aids.
That will be a long way off, if ever. For many types of hearing loss, it'll require regenerating nerves and/or brain cells. Oh, and I don't consider cochlear implants as curing hearing loss, those are just hearing aids that are implanted into your ears.

I'm just so happy Apple did this. I couldn't justify spending a thousand dollars or more for a regular hearing aid just to listen to the TV and once a month meetings with my friends. Now the TV sounds almost as clear as through headphones, and I can't wait to try talking with my friends with my AirPods!

It's not just a quality of life issue, in the immediate sense: making things better and more enjoyable in the here and now.

But the thing that persuaded me to use a hearing aid again was my partner citing part of their coursework as a psychology student, living with hearing loss can increase the pace of cognitive decline: hearing aids help to prevent dementia.

I hope that is not true for Deaf use sign language! Like me and I don’t wear any hearing aids cos it pointless and doesn’t give me any benefit and I am far too Deaf for it. Sounds scary higher risk for dementia if don’t wear hearing aids!

If you use sign language to regularly communicate with other people, I don't think there should be a problem. I think the increase in risk of dementia likely comes from reduced interactions with other people due to hearing loss.

Those of us with significant hearing loss will shed the first tear, because we remember the first time we put on our hearing aids and realized what we were missing. Most of us went way too long to find out, too. Like the other senses, the body has coping mechanisms that allow this to happen. Kudos to Apple for doing this. It's one of those "change the world" things.

I agree - kudos.
The next step is supporting the research to fix hearing issues biologically instead. That would be even more amazing.
