Awesome, thanks for the info. Hope it kicks in tomorrow here in the states when I go pick up the i9/32GB/8GB-GPU/2TB "upgraded base" model I'm hoping is in stock in my local Apple Store.

It's the day of Purchase, not Delivery. But... sometimes they make exceptions if you argue with them.

If that's the case, doesn't make a ton of sense. For example if it takes 3-4 days to get to you, you've burned through some of the return period without having it.

You are 100% correct.

That actually happened to me. I inspected my MacBook just 2 days before the warranty expired and found a swollen battery. When I brought it to the store, they started pitching me Order Day and refused the repair. I called Apple from home and they helped.

It appears that Apples holiday return policy has begun. I bought an Apple Leather Loop, and my receipt has the return date of 1/8/20, although I can’t find mention of the policy on Apples website. I did ask the manager, and he confirmed the policy.

Does this return policy include phones too? I want to buy a new phone for my wife for Xmas. And trade in her Iphone 8.

I ordered a new 16in MBP for pickup this morning at 8:30 am before the store opened at 10 am, and when I picked it up, my order page showed that I had only q4 days to return it. I mentioned it to the rep, and they returned and resold it to me, and the new receipt showed 1/8/20. The rep said that I had waited to place the order after 10 am that I would have received the extended return date on that original order.

Also, one manager was aware of the start of the holiday policy, and another manager was not aware that it had started.

yes, it includes iPhones, but I’m not sure how it works if you get it on a carrier plan. If you’re just trading in a phone with the purchase and pop in the old sim, I think you’d be under the extended return. I bought a sim free pro Max for a Christmas gift today, and it has a 1/8 return date.

where are you seeing that? Apple store app? I ordered something today and can't find it.

it was printed on the receipt that I posted. I also ordered something on apples website for in store pickup, and after I picked it up, my order page shows that I have until 1/8 to return it (You have to click Start a Return to see the date)
 
So, just to be extra sure, if I buy anything from Apple today, I have until Jan 8th to return it?

oh no, you burned through 3 to 4 days of the much extended return period that would end on exactly the same day as if you'd bought the item 3 to 4 or even 5 to 6 days later... WHAT A CALAMITY!

it actually makes perfect sense. the holiday return period is more generous than usual... but you still will always have, at the very least, 14 days from receipt.

He's actually 100% incorrect in this case... It should be noted though that your experience is a very different thing to that being discussed here - warranties and return periods are not the same thing at all.

Is there a link to this somewhere online? I want to forward a link to someone who is been wanting to try an iPhone, but has been really hesitant and has said 14 days isn’t long enough for them to try it out good in the past.

I have been checking daily with Apple Support U.K. and they’ve been saying that they’ve not had official word on it. Probably why my iPhone states 29/11. Will have to send it back and await confirmation now.

Yesterday was the 15th. 15+14=29... I don't see the confusion. Your 14 day return period started on the date of delivery.

Thank you so much for your insightful answer, I was having real trouble calculating that with my limited mathematical experience.

If sarcasm is lost on you, I’m questioning as others have stated that the extended period has already started, so I was confirming it obviously hasn’t in my case.

You're having trouble reading the whole thread, so who knows.

Read back to the information that it only applied last year to purchases made after the designated date. Something delivered on the date that the policy supposedly began was clearly bought before that date. Since someone in the US mentioned buying something for in store pickup at 08:30 and being told that the policy actually began at 10am when the store opened, i wouldn't actually be surprised if it wasn't in effect until today for europe and countries further west.

In the U.K. they state that the return period starts on the date you receive the goods, not the date you purchase them.

In the whole world they state that it starts on the date you receive the goods, not the date you purchase them. That's the standard returns policy, since in some countries it is mandated as such by law (including the UK, with distance selling regulations).

The holiday return period is longer than 14 days, and so Apple can set whatever rules they like - for example, that it only applies to purchases after a certain date - on top. At worst you get the standard 14 days.

The alternative is a situation where someone's airpod pros preordered 3 weeks ago but arriving today can now be returned anytime up to mid-January, but a pair bought in store three days ago can only be returned within November.
