Just spoken to staff at Apple Store Kingston and they’ve not heard anything yet about the extended returns either.
This is incorrect I believe.. The standard 14-day return starts on delivery day not order day. I assume the holiday return is the same..
I think Apple would do what they always did previous years, they would just extend the 14-day period to 28-days or something to give everyone enough time.. (and extra delays to get returns back)
I can confirm that extended holiday returns started yesterday (November 15th) here in Canada eh?? This seems to be in store only I have not seen it updated on the apple website for online purchases. I did go to 2 different stores. The first store had no idea.
Eh? That isn't how it worked at all.
They did last year
Apple's 2018 holiday return policy: What you need to know
Sometimes a gift from the Apple Store just doesn't land as well as you want it to. But you're in luck: Apple's holiday return policy is in effect! Here's what you need to know.www.imore.com
"For the holidays, the company has expanded this window: If an item was purchased between November 14 and December 25, 2018 you have until January 8, 2019 to return or exchange it."
It's common for ownership of items to be transferred to the buyer when the box is given to the carrier. You could probably find that through careful reading of Apple's terms and conditions.I suppose they are using the delivery date (or ship date) as the purchase date (rather than the order date)? I'm in the U.S., BTW...
I ordered my 16 MBP on launch day (11/13) and it is due to arrive this week. Just for the information, I started a return request online and it says I have until January 8th to initiate a return. As such, I'm presuming I'm eligible for the extended period, despite having ordered two days before it officially started. I suppose they are using the delivery date (or ship date) as the purchase date (rather than the order date)? I'm in the U.S., BTW...
They’re not using the delivery date in the U.K., mine was ordered on 14/11 and delivered on 15/11, states returns up to 29/11. Apple U.K. confirmed today that it’s for purchases after 15/11, here anyway.

Not from online store in UK. Friend bought iphone 18th Nov, delivered 19th Nov, returns until 3rd Dec. So still 14 days return window.
Holiday Return Policy
Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between November 15, 2019 and December 25, 2019, may be returned through January 8, 2020. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. All purchases made after December 25, 2019, are subject to the Standard Return Policy.
received* is the keyword
I think, you are right: "received". I bought online and "picked up" an iPhone on the 18.11 and I have no extended return.
January 8th is not 28 days from December 25th. Nor is it 28 days from November 14th. Thank you for highlighting those dates, but I stand by my statement that you’re wrong and that isn’t how it works at all.
If you purchase after a particular arbitrary date, Apple treats your purchase as if it was made on Christmas Day and you get 14 days from then. It’s nothing to do with postal delays and everything to do with the possibility something might be wrapped up and put under the tree.
well. i just got an iPad 10.2 inch few days ago, and i have til Jan 8th to return it.. based on my account. So, i will rather side with Apple in this case.
