I can confirm that extended holiday returns started yesterday (November 15th) here in Canada eh?? This seems to be in store only I have not seen it updated on the apple website for online purchases. I did go to 2 different stores. The first store had no idea.

This is incorrect I believe.. The standard 14-day return starts on delivery day not order day. I assume the holiday return is the same..

Yep, always has been.... if it was 14-day order date, that wouldn't give anyone much time to 'play' given on their location, while some others would be 'just out of luck'.

I'd like to think the return for holiday period is next business day, as what happens on days the offices are closed?

I think Apple would do what they always did previous years, they would just extend the 14-day period to 28-days or something to give everyone enough time.. (and extra delays to get returns back)

Eh? That isn't how it worked at all.

This is good to know, now I just hope they have the 16” in stock at store to play around with and to purchase.

They did last year

"For the holidays, the company has expanded this window: If an item was purchased between November 14 and December 25, 2018 you have until January 8, 2019 to return or exchange it."

January 8th is not 28 days from December 25th. Nor is it 28 days from November 14th. Thank you for highlighting those dates, but I stand by my statement that you’re wrong and that isn’t how it works at all.

If you purchase after a particular arbitrary date, Apple treats your purchase as if it was made on Christmas Day and you get 14 days from then. It’s nothing to do with postal delays and everything to do with the possibility something might be wrapped up and put under the tree.

I ordered my 16 MBP on launch day (11/13) and it is due to arrive this week. Just for the information, I started a return request online and it says I have until January 8th to initiate a return. As such, I'm presuming I'm eligible for the extended period, despite having ordered two days before it officially started. I suppose they are using the delivery date (or ship date) as the purchase date (rather than the order date)? I'm in the U.S., BTW...

It's common for ownership of items to be transferred to the buyer when the box is given to the carrier. You could probably find that through careful reading of Apple's terms and conditions.

They’re not using the delivery date in the U.K., mine was ordered on 14/11 and delivered on 15/11, states returns up to 29/11. Apple U.K. confirmed today that it’s for purchases after 15/11, here anyway.

Where do you see the return date? I don't have anything on my receipt. I had to go online to initiate a return to see the January 8th date.

Has anyone confirmed that Apple uses the shipping date as the purchase date for purposes of returns and warranty?

I noticed that my credit card was charged on 11/17. I wonder if this is the purchase date they're using.

LOL, so there are four possibilities here:
- The date you placed the order online
- The date your card is charged
- The date your item is shipped
- The date your item is delivered

I'm guessing they are using wither the date your card is charged or the date the item is shipped. That would seem to jive with the info I've read in this thread.

Not from online store in UK. Friend bought iphone 18th Nov, delivered 19th Nov, returns until 3rd Dec. So still 14 days return window.

I spoke with the Apple Online Support in Germany and I went to the store in Berlin: They say that there is the extended return until January. But it is strange since I bought on Monday with pick-up and online it says until December.

Talked to customer service in UK as might be stopping there for a buy, had not heard anything and double checked as well. Seems it doesn’t exist officially.

The guy confirmed over online chat via Apple U.K. store that if I purchased an iPhone yesterday online (or anytime after 15/11/19), that it would fall into the extended returns. I'd be so bloody annoyed if it doesn't!! I'll see later once it's delivered and the return option pops up online.

FFS it says 04/12/19, the lying git!!!! Now I have to return this one!!!!!!!!

Currently laying into Apple via chat now...

Right, the guy confirmed that the extended returns is in place for anything purchased after 15/11/19 (that's two representatives now) and that the online portal is incorrect. He said that Apple After Sales can provide me with some comfort as I said that I don't want to be in the situation in January where a return is refused because their system states 04/12/19. Apparently the extended period was only reflected yesterday, so the changes might not have hit the portal yet... I have emailed After Sales for written confirmation in the meantime.

Apple has announced. News thread about this.

Holiday Return Policy
Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between November 15, 2019 and December 25, 2019, may be returned through January 8, 2020. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. All purchases made after December 25, 2019, are subject to the Standard Return Policy.

I had the extended return date on my receipt and when I returned items on Monday the specialist gave me the 14 day return window speech (In the U.S.)

I told him "I know about the holiday extended return date and the ERT is on my receipt so..."

He blanched and course corrected quickly.

It is best to ask.

well. i just got an iPad 10.2 inch few days ago, and i have til Jan 8th to return it.. based on my account. So, i will rather side with Apple in this case.

You’ll find that Jan 8th is more than 28 days from now.

You don’t seem to understand the point on which you were wrong.

Hint: it isn’t the return date, it’s the return period. And that return period is 14 days from 25 December.
