I'll post the response from the FCC - if I get one. They've been very helpful to me in the past - ATT did a 180 after they were contacted on my behalf.
AT&T is a telecom company, so I can see how the FCC got them to dance for you.

As far as I can tell, the FCC has zero regulatory abilities when it comes to email.

The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 as the successor to the Federal Radio Commission and is charged with regulating all non-Federal Government use of the radio spectrum (including radio and television broadcasting), and all interstate telecommunications (wire, satellite and cable) as well as all international communications that originate or terminate in the United States. It is an important factor in US telecommunication policy. The FCC took over wire communication regulation from the Interstate Commerce Commission.

After the disaster of the switch to mobile me, they gave me a whopping 30 day extension (mind you I almost lost my escrow because I couldn't access an important document) and said they weren't going to use the term "Push" for contacts because of an evil storm cloud or some such nonsense. Sure enough, their commercials still claim instantly updated push data. Wow.

Actually, the service is instant PUSH if you edit contacts/calendars from the Web Apps. If you use iCal/Address Book/Outlook, it's 15 minutes sync. But in OS X, you can edit a plist file so it's syncing every minute. Not push but very close to it.

Oh yeah, upgraded me and my wife's iPhone to the big 2.0 update a couple days ago- my wife lost all of her contacts. "The backup file is corrupt." Great. And still cannot access data from my exchange server with my iPhone, despite the fact that I have set up 3 Tilts (which I love more and more each day) with no problems. After being ping-ponged between ATT and Apple for support (Apple concluded "You need the Enterprise data plan", and ATT responded "That plan is only for the iPhone 3G!") But I do have monkey ball and a virtual beer to drain my frustration.

Your wife did not sync the iphone contacts to Address Book??

I bought $100 worth of music the night before a DJ gig, and realized I can't MIX this music with serrato scratch. I should have known - for a while Apple was selling MP3s again (am I trippin?) And when I asked Apple for a refund? NOPE they'll only refund one of my purchases- and they refunded the cheapest one. Had to burn everything to a CD and re-rip. Jesus' mother Mary and Joseph.

Sorry about that but... I don't (never) buy music.

Damn you iPod. It's all your fault. Apple tasted the sweet sweet nectar of mass appeal and everything went down hill.

Mobileme was (and still IS for some people) a nightmare but other than that, they are still doing great

There go that 2% of the people that are affected by the MobileMe switch

This post is ridiculous.

And full of wrong info by the OP and FUD by those that support him.

When has anything ever worked perfectly?

flashvenom, you're wrong and you aren't that much of a bad @$$ Apple fan. Just stop.

This post is not ridiculous.

When has anything ever worked perfectly?

ANSWER:
Most of all my crap from Japan, Germany, Finland, Korea and Sweden always worked perfectly:
- My Nokia & Erickson phones, :)
- My Volkswagen and my 40 years old Mercedes 280SL, :)
- My Sony TV set, my Samsung screen, My japanese stereo systems :)

Oh, and I forgot:
- My 1999 Apple, G3 B&W OS9 ;)

I've had loads of problems with my MacMini Intel, :(
and I will not talk about "immobilise me"
I've never been stupid enough to buy a PC.

random whining

Look, it's obvious you're only interested in starting a lot of flaming back & forth, your other thread entirely irrational in its claims & threats, and you're not adding anything useful here. If you're as dissatisfied with Apple/MobileMe/life, why keep running up your blood pressure here? Do you honestly think you'll convince a single person? Or are you determined to just pester everyone else?

I really don't know what you and the OP expect when the first thing you do when joining a community is by tossing inane accusations, bitterly complaining about how you were inconvenienced, and then acting terribly haughty & offended when that got a negative reaction. We have a word for that, and it's troll.

If you want to discuss, discuss. If you just want to argue, then anticipate a short stay.

Mhhh !
censorship ?
Not surprised... really

Everything is cool in the Apple hugger world :) :) :)

You're going around being angry and raising your own blood pressure (and some others too) when I proposed a solution in your thread, you rejected it by acting like a white knight and condemn it as piracy...

How about try installing Tiger from a friend's CD and see whether you can be more at ease (helps others too!!!)

First, try reading the Forum Rules. If you're more of a pest than you're worth, you're gone. That's not censorship, that's maintenance. Besides, this is a private site--censorship is a government function--and the mods can ban whomever they want given sufficient reason, including moi. The title is merely an indicator that I have contributed financially to support the site, that's all. No special privileges, no extra rights. I couldn't ban you if I wanted (and I don't, as I don't see that you've crossed any lines in that regard, anyway).

This site is more than just a place to moan on the internet, it's a community, and we more than welcome new members that want to positively contribute to that community. That doesn't mean singing the praises of Apple, but it also doesn't mean you should expect a warm response when the first thing you do is begin a rant. You want to play, play. You want to fuss and moan and threaten, just do it somewhere else, please.

Dear illutionz,

I've already thank you for your advice.
I could borrow an OS10.5 tomorrow, i will not do it, it is piracy.

I do not only have a problem with an OSX upgrade, see my others posts.
And we are hundred of thousand having the same problem.

My point is not to resolve my own problem with unlawfull solutions.
- My point is to find solutions to protect European consumers against abuses from any company acting against the law or defending themselves with abusive TOS. It happens that it is also my job.
- As my colleagues are happy to create and improve European laws to protect those same companies (who spend billions in R&D to create great softwares / OS etc...) who want to be protected against thieves (pirates).

Easy to understand ?
And my personal problem is already resolved, I'll not renew my DotMac subscription.

An ex Apple fanboi,
White knight ot whoever you want.

I'm probably in the minority, but I like this thread. I've been using an imac for a few years and I need to decide if my first laptop will be a Windows or Apple machine, and this kind of no-holds-barred forum fighting might be petty, but it's good to get the extreme ends of both arguments. I just don't know what brand to go for; maybe the one thing that will keep an apple person is the complete hardware-software integration (every PC laptop manufacturer seems to have thosuands of people in a sworn vendetta against the brand's build quality, but so does apple it seems).

I agree. I don't mind the thread. I understand the guys frustration

Granted, I will not leave Apple because I am a VERY satisfied customer with great Apple products such as my iMac, MBP, iPhone, and iPod.

But, MobileMe the last 2 weeks has been an utter disaster. Up until today, it was 2 weeks without it and considering I had been using my .Mac account for 2 previous years for work/family, it was NOT easy not having it for weeks. Very frustrating. If he wants to vent or call out Apple, I do not see a problem with it

I'm done as well.

I'm done with mail at Mobile Me. And, I'm one of those they'll-take-my-Mac-when-they-pry-my-cold-dead-fingers-from-around-it kind of guys.

I've discovered that when I turned off mail in Mobile Me on my iPhone 3G my battery life suddenly shot up! Before, I couldn't make it through the day without a recharge like I could with my original iPhone. I still have Mobile Me on my iPhone but I've turned of mail sync'ing but left sync'ing on for calendars and contacts. Those have been working well for me lately. I had always had sync'ing of bookmarks turned off anyway.

Contact sync'ing wasn't perfect until I discovered that putting an apostrophe in the name field of a company contact prevented that contact from sync'ing. Now the sync'ing works perfectly. Same for calendars.

So, for me, it's just calendars and contacts for my iPhone. Nice, but worth a hundred bucks a year? Especially since I've discovered that the iDisk takes HOURS to upload a 600 MB file. I'm looking into alternatives for that as well.

Hey, kudos to the moderators for not banning me. Even though they edit my particularly interesting posts- thanks for letting me use your forums. I'm not trying to quibble or post jibba jabba. I never expected this to be well received. I love Apple. But it's time to move on, and support a company that needs me, since Apple has made it clear they don't give a fig about their customers (and I hear it's the same with their employees.)

To Apple I say: "Do you."

Please don't go away. With a $200 iPhone, I can't wait to buy the competition's answer to such a cool device. I'm all about the underdogs - the companies that NEED their customers and listen to them. To the people asking for advice on which platform to choose - make sure you're familiar with both, and choose the one that feels most comfortable. That's all it comes down to.

Thanks haters,

The OP OG.

In my imagination

Oh great! So you have the facts to prove that no one else had a problem with the items you listed...

That's what I thought.

I was being serious about the fact that nothing works perfectly. The small percentage of users having problems with MobileMe can join those that have issues with the Mac, PCs, certain cars, brands of food, clothing, etc, etc, the list goes on.

People have reported problems with their Apple iPhones and Samsung Instincts and the world keeps turning.

Not trying to start a flame war or be uptight, but consumers need to realize that not everything will work as expected, we are fallible after all.

No two ways about it. "iTunes Plus" songs are MP3s.

Erm...they're unprotected AAC files!

I agree with this thread. I've loved Apple since I got my 4th Gen iPod and am now typing this on my 2 year old MacBook :) But!
Any other company that have done what Apple has just done with MobileMe would NEVER make me use them again for that service. Be it Microsoft, Google, Yahoo etc. The initial launch problems I understand, losing people's email and having it down for 2 weeks is not. Period.

It's why I won't buy a mobile phone (especially Motorola) that has one of those very large proprietary charger plugs (for anything like power, data etc.), why I won't buy a Packard Bell computer, why I won't buy a Lite-On drive, why I'll never ring the Apple Support Phone line and so on.

As a demanding user of both PC's and Mac, get a PC. Not because it's better or worse, but because you're better off having one of each. My primary computer is an iMac, and I love it. My laptop is a PC, and I love it. Brand isn't such a big deal, buy from a place you are comfortable getting support from if you have problems.

The downside is software. Office isn't cheap, and buying both a PC and Macversion is twice as pricey.

I've been discussing Apple for 13+ years, albeit not on this forum, but in the forum of my friends, family, business associates, and schools - including working and teaching alongside an Apple Distinguished Educator / former Dean of the Laguna College of Art and Design (not to mention a UCI Extension Professor.) We were the first college campus to go completely Airport wireless and the first to have "Apple Geniuses" ON CAMPUS. Maybe here I am, but to Apple I'm no noob. Not by a long shot. And I'm not ranting.. I'm eloquently voicing my complaints and opinions. :)

Is this still about the MP3 or AAC thing, i always thought they were AAC files

The latest iTunes + album I purchased on iTunes says it is an .m4p. To get these unprotected files to be mp3, they have to be converted to mp3 using iTunes to convert them. They don't just automatically download as mp3s.
