Interesting. Did not read about this recently.

I'm sure glad I didn't spend $1000 + to beta test these iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max phones. Always let the product "mature" is a good practice I guess. This news won't help the already declining sales numbers for these models, either. The issues with them just continue to pile up.........

Perhaps read the article before making a blanket and false post.

I'm experiencing something... Wifi basically turns off if the phone is "asleep". Started with latest update. Wifi reconnects when I wake the phone.

Also, intermittently down on wifi on iPad Pro 2018 and the XS max, cuts in and out.

Sales numbers are what they are, poor. Not a false statement at all.
What does any of that have to do with the discussion in this thread?

As I recall, disconnecting from WiFi when asleep has essentially been a fairly standard things that iPhones have been doing for a long time.

Perhaps, but none of my devices have ever done that and now they all do right after updating to this version of iOS.

WiFi has been shutting down unless plugged in for sometime. If the phone is in airplane mode I don’t remember if it shut down. I also don’t think it shut down with WiFi calling enabled.

Maybe apple changed how this works in the latest beta. Can’t tell.

In a related matter...I had updated my iPhone Xr to 12.1.2 when it came out initially. No issues with it, at all. Plugged in my phone yesterday to charge and backup and iTunes updated it to 12.1.2 again. Very odd, since that was the version already on the phone. It hasn't had any ill effects on it, but it certainly was an oddity.

There’s two builds of iOS 12.1.2 and one is only available via iTunes. I don’t think anyone other than Apple knows why.

Forbes tech writer is reporting that iOS 12.1.2 is killing cellular data on many phones. Haven't noticed it on mine, as yet. Apparently. Twitter is blowing up with reports of the bug. Haven't seen anything from Apple on it yet, either.

Not only that...I didn’t have option to block update to 12.1.2 : Apple coerced downloading 12.1.2, by throttling use of iPhone 6SE, and iPadPro unless I allowed it. THAT is extortionistic.
It took away the iPad's native calculator app, with no replacement in the App store [except other free ones that come with pushy and flashing ads].
Battery use on both pad and phone, are horrendously throttled: the phone, especially, suddenly went from lasting all day, easily, to losing nearly 50% of its charge in only a few hours. The pad’s charge drops similarly. That makes traveling with those, impossible!!!

None on this forum.
Could care less about Twitter, not on it.. Seems reply’s on this thread don’t agree with the “serious problem”

Just because someone personally, doesn’t see problems, does NOT mean problems don’t exist for others! Who cares about Forbes? Even Twitter? 12.1.1 & 12.1.2 have throttled & glitched my portable units to the point of barely useful:
---iPhone & iPad-pro: Apple coerced update to 12.1.1 & 12.1.2 [by throttling use of units], even though most of their “fixes” didn’t apply to models I use; both have had problems since. Both portable units had been working fine until those updates.
---Messages suddenly failed to share between my 3 Apple units; still not fixed.
---FaceTime fails to operate properly, but differently on each unit, and no longer share between my 3 units; still unable to find fix.
---Massively throttled battery use [losing upwards of 50% of pad & phone battery charge in only a few hours, despite Cell service being off]; WHY?
---Native calculator was deleted by 12.1. from iPad; no decent replacement in app store [all come loaded with ads that glitch use]; probably because the update gave us the measuring tool in it’s place?? Which is a cool app...but GIVE BACK MY native CALCULATOR!
---Update required more interaction with App store or iTunes.
I don’t use games or Tunes. Cell service is turned OFF most of the time.
All that mess makes using those portable units, especially while traveling, impossible.
Costly paperweights. Predatory Bad Robots.

Apple doesn’t throttle use of devices if you don’t update to the latest iOS. That’s just ridiculous. If you are being throttled and your battery is dying you should have taken advantage of Apple’s $29 battery replacement program. Unfortunately that ends today.

Apple in no way forced anyone to install iOS 12.1.2. If you enabled automatic updates, that’s on you.

Also there wasn’t even an iOS 12.1.2 update for the iPad at all and there was never a native calculator app on the iPad.

Your post reads as bad as the Forbes article.

When less than a thousand out of tens of millions of users are effected, it's a non issue. As far as the rest of your rant, sounds like battery issues with old devices. By the way, Apple has never throttled the iPad, EVER.. Remember, if Apple doesn't suit your needs or expectations, there are plenty other phone manufacturers out there for you to try until one meets your high standards. I'm sure Apple won't hold it against you..
