I just purchased the Macally Bookstand online and can't wait to get it. It doesn't cover the bezel and looks like it should be relatively easy to get in and out of the case. It is also very thin and a gray suede so dirt on it becomes somewhat of a non-issue.

I've had the Apple case since launch day, too, and I'd just like to back up what a previous poster said about it offering several unique viewing angles besides the ones you get standing it up straight or by tucking the flap into the little pocket on the back; you also have the ability to prop it in your lap or on other surfaces by folding the front cover back and just letting it rest against things, however is most comfortable. I also like the material it's made of, and it does wipe off easily with a damp washcloth.

After a couple of weeks using the Apple case, it has become easier to remove the iPad and to replace it. Those sharp edges people talk about are really not sharp if you use the case at all, they sort of conform to the sides of the iPad, folding inward and (in my opinion) offering more protection from other nearby objects when the case is closed.

I have to laugh at people saying the case gets scuffed up. Isn't that the main point of a case? Would you rather have those scuffs on the iPad? FWIW, my Apple case hasn't been permanently scuffed. It does attract some temporary gray/white marks, but they're very easy to wipe off with a damp cloth and the case looks like new again. The Apple case is as well designed as the iPad itself, I can't imagine using it without it. Probably a bit expensive at $40, I think $30 would be more appropriate, but it is totally worth it so I can't complain.

Bought a couple cases the Apple one is hands down the best... Should have just stuck with it instead of wasting money on other cases.

Anybody who ain't impressed with the official Apple case want to flog me one?? My wifes ipad is naked and she wants one like mine (I'm overseas)

I have two apple cases sitting here waiting for my 3G's to arrive. I was using one of them before returning the wifi and have to say that I can't find any complaints about the apple case, it serves it purpose well.

  • The Quirky Cloak, which I like because of its stand features, but concerned about the durability of the hinges.
and
  • The Belkin Grip Vue, which although offering a minute screen recess, really does not protect the screen if the iPad is placed in bag.

I have the Belkin Grip Vue and love it. It is extremely form fitting and very grippable without having an unpleasant texture. I can see the uncovered screen being an issue if you expect it to be in such situation.

Quirky is looking pretty good, I hope they don't take too long. At least it is in production, they have a sweet looking iPod Nano case which still hasn't reached the "preorder threshold" after 6 months.

Happy to hear the good news about the Eco Vue; I have one of those, plus a CIMO flap case on order. Couldn't find anything other than the Belkins, etc. around here, none of which I cared for.

So much for the best made plans.....

The CIMO showed up. Not in love with it—and somehow misunderstood the photo, expecting the flap to come off the long side (like a book cover), not off the bottom edge. There’s no closure on the bottom, which means the iPad will slip sightly out with use in that position. Weird design, but worse yet, only a 7 day return window, including weekends. (?!?!?) Given the fact all calls go to voice mail, and it can take hours to hear back, my guess is I’ve missed the final UPS pickup for the day....

...and am leaving for Asia tomorrow morning.

As for the EcoVue, it was mysteriously re-routed to Florida by UPS, which means Monday delivery instead of yesterday’s 2-day (that I paid for). Yup. Means it gets here after I’ve left. Strike two.

Needless to say, didn’t expect to be scrambling around, looking for a case at T-minus 18 hours and counting. Yikes!

I have the case and the dock but some say you can't use the dock while the iPad is in the case and it is so custom fitted that taking out of the case is a pain in the butt. If this is true I may return the dock and just charge via the cord. Since I don't have my 3G yet I can't test this myself. Has anyone tried to mount the dock while the case is on?

I would say the Apple Case is really good from what I hear and will probably go with it but might try the Macallly Bookstand or Marware Eco-Vue or Eco-Flip to see which is best.

As far as docking, I may get an Incipio Feather which does work with the Apple Dock and use that around the house, popping it out and sliding into the Apple Case or other folio for travel and longer term typing and video viewing.

It seems a lot of people may end up going with a combo. But I will also start out putting on a BSE - www.bestskinsever.com back only.

I love the Apple case. I bought it on day 1 and love the way it is so easy to take the cover and prop up the iPad for viewing. Yesterday, just for a change I went to the Apple store and bought the Belkin pouch case. But I returned it within a couple of hours. I like how the Apple case gives you something firm to hold on to and love the way it props the iPad up for easy viewing.

I still love it, it also looks the coolest in my opinion. people think its a manual on my desk when I have it closed like a book!!!! They gasp when I open it up and turn it on!

Just cant believe how difficult it is to get one at the moment!!!! They must have thought it would be a average seller. My wife has a naked iPad at the mo and to be honest it is crap to use without the case, so much that she doesnt really use it for fear of scratching, damage and the fact it is awkward

I just bought a 10" incase netbook neoprene case. It's not sexy or anything, but I've had it knocked out of my hands and it has nothing wrong with it. I dunno, you can't really justify spending $40 on something that will probably get trashed when for $10 cheaper I have more protection and everyone can see how sexy and thin my iPad is.

One of the managers at the Apple store showed me his Apple cover. Looked nice, but hearing that it's a dust/fingerprint magnet has me feeling better about the alternates headed my way.

Got one of those cimo ipad cases too, as well as the sleeve cases. I couldn't find anything that had fast shipping and low prices (i was in a rush :) and i wasn't expecting to use these cases full time but they've been great.

My Apple case was delivered Friday and it is more of a dark gray color. I thought someone on another post said they were black.

That's just the dust it has accumulated in the few minutes you've had it. ;)

+1 Love my iPad case. The fit and look is just perfect to me. Wet naps are perfect for removing unwanted spots and dust along the edges. I have access to an unlimited supply from relatives at a casino. ;)

I also went with the Apple case. Unfortunately, the case is scheduled to show up two weeks after the iPad makes it appearance. I am not sure that I want to use my iPad without a case, and for that long.

is a case necessary? I think the ipad alone is enough. It's beautiful, why put cloth on it >.<

My Apple case typically takes a week before its dirty. It only gets dirty when I put it somewhere dirty like on a table where I have been eating fast food. But for the most part my home and office are spotless and dust free so it stays clean for a long time.

I have a great way of cleaning it though which takes only seconds. Use windex wipes. One wipe and its like new. Windex leaves no residue so it's really easy.

I have an Apple case, but then replaced it with the SwitchEasy Nude. I wasn't interested in protecting the back of the iPad but for the added grip it provides. The bare metal felt slippery in my hands.

Until somebody makes the case that I want, I'll be sticking with the SE Nude and a screen protector.

The seam excess of the Apple case (which also interferes with the volume rocker), poorly aligned speaker holes, and overall goofy look were just too much after a while.
