I don't think we will see new iPads until September, at the same event as the iPhone 8. Mac's will probably follow suit in October.

I think most forget that the iPad Pro 12.9 actually debuted in November 2015, which I keep seeing the same post on Macrumors, that if we don't see an iPad debut by September, we won't see one at all for 2017. So that's obviously not true, in the sense of where the iPad could potential launch in October/November, Around the Mac update.

By waiting until November they are missing a HUGE audience with back to school.

But Apple can't release an iPad just based on the demographic of a student going back to school. And the current iPads are more than capable of likely completing the task a student would require at this point, which they could offer the discount around the same time frame. But then you have to ask yourself, how much of a Target demographic is a student towards the iPad?

I would think the Mac would be more of an interest to a student over the iPad for the classroom. Even though the iPad has very good note taking capabilities if you have the Pro model and smart keyboard.

The Apple Store site shows 12.9 Pro delivery to most Apple Stores in our region for May 30th. I suspect this is the Pro 2 -- not the Pro original. It's hard to imagine getting a new stock of the original in, then releasing the Pro 2 less than a month later. Hoping this is the case. Waiting...

No, if it was the iPad Pro 2 then Apple would say so with a least a press release. The iPad Pro 2 is more likely to be announced in September along side the new iPhone 8. Apple did this in 2015 when they announced the iPad Pro 12.9" and the iPhone 6S so they are not above announcing multiple products at the same event, this is more likely because the new Apple campus will have the Steve Job's theatre open by then and what better way to celebrate it than by announcing some new products.

The iPad Pro 12.9" was announced in September but you are right that it didn't come out until November, that's when i got mine. I'm looking to update but i don't see them announcing anything before September at the least.

I don't think it will make sense to say that the products will be restocked on a said date, and then restock it with newer version of the products. It's like ordering a Haswell CPU from Amazon, getting a delay and then when it reaches you, you get a Skylake CPU. Strange right?

I suspect some supply chain issue is going on, hence the pushing back of delivery dates.

September would be too late for a new iPad Pro launch.

The new iPad Pro uses A10X. Apple isn't going to introduce A11 and then an iPad Pro using a last gen SoC.

A launch will happen between now and August.

It will be at the same event as the iPhone 8 when he A11 will be announced so it would be the perfect event. Apple will not announce new iPad's until then.

Tim Cook: "Today, we're introducing a brand new A11 chip for the iPhone 7S and iPhone X. We're also introducing the next generation super tablet. It uses A10X based on last gen architecture."

I don't think so.

I don't get it so the iMac and Mac Pro are dying and Apple continues to push updates for the iPad that has flat sales? Wouldn't it seem that putting out any sort of updated iMac or Mac Pro or even a (afraid to say it) Mac Mini would drive sales?

Edit: Now that I think about it maybe Apple will actually multitask for once and update the Macs and the iPad/iPhone at the same time!

I don't think so.

You obviously didn't watch the 2015 September event, iPad Pro was announced alongside the iPhone 6S so you are wrong.

But an A11X chip sounds about right.

A9 & A9X.

LOL, typed too fast eh?

No, why? You do know that the iPad Pro was announced alongside the iPhone 6s at that event, my point being that they did it then so they are likely to do the same this September. Excepting iPad's at WWDC is just wishful thinking, as much as I would love to upgrade my 12.9" iPad Pro before I pretty much expect it to be September before we see another iPad Pro.

Possible, but I think not likely. We would have heard something from Ming-Chi Kuo by now.

Even if we ignore that, A11 uses the TSMC's 10nm node. A11X should be a high clock or additional core variant. I don't think Apple will risk relying on a single fab to do a new chip, on a new node, and and ask for high clock all at once in the same time period.

For A9 and A9X, Apple sourced two foundries TSMC and Samsung which mitigated the risk.

iPad Pro (A9X) and iPhone 6s (A9) use the same gen processor. There's no problem announcing the two products at the same event.

The new iPad Pro is expected to use A10X. Unless all the sources have been wrong, it will be using that chip.

It would be quite awkward to introduce on stage a brand new tablet using A10X with 2X performance gains, and then switch to talking about Apple's even better A11 in the iPhone 7S and iPhone X.

We will see but I don't think they will announce them at WWDC, and if they were holding an earlier event they wouldn't of announced the Red iPhone, iPad and the Clips app which would of been a demo moment on stage, so my guess is still September at the Steve Jobs theatre.

I sincerely believe new iPad Pro models will be shown at WWDC, I feel with Microsoft recent announcements and another coming May 23rd Apple can no longer afford to keep us "Pro" users in the dark on the iPad's

Hmm, the recently announced iPad 2017 was really a step back, just a stripped down and cheaoer iPad without the latest screen tech. Maybe sales are not strong enough to refresh them more often. There is also no tablet - after all these years - from the competition, which offers the same well- rounded mix of build quality, speed, screen and features as the iPads. Except for the Surface 4 which is a full blown computer.
This is what Apple needed: a mac Mini in an iPad Pro 12.9 with USBc. People would go mad probably. It would probably eat some MacBook sales, but they could sell it for more than an iPad. This would be a device I'd order immediately.
