Right after I read this thread, I cleaned my very dirty Apple Keyboard. I can't believe that it took me more than 1 hour from start to finish! It was pretty easy to take out the keys with a butter knife and putting them back was even easier! (it's so much easier compare to replacing the keys on a laptop!!)

The cleaning part was REALLY REALLY REALLY gross (especially because I'd eat when I use my computer)! I was thinking about getting the Bluetooth one since I just got a MBP. However after the cleaning my corded Apple KB, I really doubt if I wanna go through the very unpleasant cleaning process again and again.

I saw this thread and immediately set about prying the keys off, and they came off so easily! It was quite unpleasant afterwards, but a chamois and some soap, and the clean white apple keyboard was back to new! I do now have to find an image of an apple keyboard for reassembly, but its more fun that way :D

The worst was the thin *oily* film that was on my fingers after I pried all the keys off, very gross :( . The real problem is that on most other keyboards it's all hidden away, allowed to build up, and I doubt all of them have keys that come off so easily.

[edit] oh, and eating in front of keyboard is not a good idea, not at all.

seriously why clean it underneath, it's not like affecting you in anyway, people don't come over and look at your keyboard rather then your imac

the only bit i ever cleaned was the top of the keys thats about it

Upon viewing this thread I thought.. what a good idea. So I take a few keys off of my bluetooth keyboard, cleaned it, put them back, and now my computer won't connect with the keyboard. It shows up as discoverable but when attempting to connect it doesn't work. I have turned it on and off a few times and even restarted. Also the green light beneath the keyboard is blinking does this mean anything? Any help would be great! Thanks.
