Compare that to what Apple is doing now, you're mostly watching an annual WWDC video instead of being able to see it in an exhibit. This was when the iPhone first came out. The Vision Pro is not even the final product and its still a secretive prototype that is shown in a very limited circumstances so majority of people have not had a hands on or seen specifications, or seen the VisionOS working. It's akin to a CES keynote by some big manufacturer where possible examples are exhibited and it's somewhat expensive. There is a complete lack of assurance towards consumers that it’s the final deliverable product as it forecasted to be sometime 2024. So Apple has to contend with consumers wanting new tech to be perfect when it launches, instead of new products that will evolve. Yeah we are spoiled and Apple has a lot higher hurdle to meet now.

Yea, let’s compare the launch of iPhone to the headset. When Apple announced the iPhone, it was 6 months from actual release. Kinda similar than what we have with the Vision Pro. And it should be noted that the iPhone had NO third party apps at launch. They had the “cool solution” of web apps. App Store and third party apps became available one year after launch, when iPhone 3G was released.

And it should be noted that unlike with iPhone, there are already lots of outside people who have tried the headset, and they praise it. With the iPhone, people could just see it rotating in a glass cylinder.

It’s first hand experience from someone who actually used one. And there are other similar comments.

Anecdote.

And iPhone is a phone, what’s your point?

Phone =/= goggles. People have no problem casually picking up a phone. People do not casually pick up and wear goggles.

Entertainment as a whole is such a killer app.

Then it’s a failure before it gets out of the gate.
Not even close to the same.

I did? Where?

It’s a kind of device we have already seen, just orders of magnitude better than what came before it.
Right now its just headset uses a spatial version of iOS that encompasses some of Apple's OS's traits. But is it really a kind of a device we have already seen by various competitors? I'm diffidently not sure it is. Way too early to judge it also. ;)

Here's the magic... when Mac run volumes start going down, Tim can introduce the 14/16 OLED "MagicBook Pro" and increase margins by 20%+ based on "Magic"... final step in 2035... Apple renames as "Magic"

Do you guys think, “Magic Battery", can be used to charge the new iPhone 15 Pro Max since it contains the USB-C connecter?

Now what's magical! 🪄

Yeah mean the same ones who get paid to gush blog about everything Apple?
You're saying Apple cherry picked people with a history of rah-rah Apple? I'm shocked. Shocked that Apple didn't do a random sampling.😏😏🙃

We'll know the truth after it gets released. The lack of interest from developers doesn't bode well though.😞 I see some niche markets where this will be a godsend, but I don't see commercial success. At least not until developers start cranking out apps that isn't a port of iOS or OSX stuff.

It sells well, so why would they? Because you think Max is silly? 😂
Yep, I do. It just feels cheesy as a word. Your mileage may vary (and evidently it does).

I think mainly because it's a clumsy marketing device to encourage people to upsize their purchase to the bigger model.

I mean how would we all feel if the 15 inch MBA and the 16 inch MBP were called

'The MacBook Air Max'

And the

'MacBook Pro Max'

?

Ultra for me works better, as we have things such as ultra-marathons etc. so it's well established that this is an adjective that means that something is being pushed to the limit.

i.e. It's performance / feature based.

A power bank that charges by usb c and powers by usb c but only apple approved must be because of magic., Imagine this, a vision pro customer tries to use a no name usb c power bank, and complains to customer service, they can reply, they don't have magic

I mean the ones who end up having a better track record than the naysayers who love to be so negative about Apple, and who often wind up being on the wrong side of history.

Pro, Max, Air, Ultra, +, Magic…

They’re all sorta dumb. None of them mean anything consistent.

Sounds like a totally personal preference, and is therefore as valid as anyone else's. Me, I disagree with you to the max.
