I don't have this problem in other mail clients. Only Apple Mail.
We used to not be able to access Yahoo Mail with Apple Mail until Yahoo made it work with Apple Mail on their end. That's what I mean.
I don't have this problem in other mail clients. Only Apple Mail.
My Gmail works with every other mail client except Apple Mail without issues. I also have frequent iCloud problems. Apple has issues.
None of that has anything to do with the issues I'm having. Seems like you just did a quick search and copy pasted the first thing you found without reading the article.
I didn't ask for your help. I brought up an issue which is the very topic of this thread. Just seems like you're not willing to admit that Apple Mail ... or Apple ... may in fact have problems. Judging by the shared issues among members in this thread, I must say it's not an isolate incident.
I'm open to all the possibilities, except Apple Mail still continues to be the only mail app that has problems with Gmail. You'd think if it was on Google's end, they'd prioritize having Gmail work with Apple Mail. But the fact that it's working on every third-party app I'm using, both big and small, it's not unsafe to assume there's issues with Apple Mail. You're equally unwilling to admit that it could just as likely be an issue with Gmail or more likely how you've set your accounts up. But continue blaming Apple for your problems. I'm sure that'll solve them.
I'll give it a go, thanks. I tried liking Airmail ... and it works as far as mail clients go ... but it just doesn't have everything I need. I'm willing to throw down some dough for a good mail client. After nearly 18 months of declining productivity and growing Frustration with Apple Mail, I finally took the plunge and installed Postbox. And have happily not looked back.
With the value of email, I cannot fathom why Apple has so terribly neglected Mail. Does anyone really use the templates and pretty "paper"?
I've got 6 email addresses, only 1 is an Apple .me address... The rest, including 2 from work are gmail... And as has been discussed here ad nasueum, Apple Mail doesn't play nice...
Oh well, give Postbox a shot... The $15 was worth it to have a program that (like Apple used to) "just works".

You're really irritating. I don't have a problem using Gmail. Or sending or receiving messages ... or sending myself messages ... or any of the functionality of using Gmail. My problem is it requests that I sign in again to my Gmail accounts in Apple Mail whenever the computer is restarted. The credentials don't stick and it asks me to update via iCloud/system preferences (Internet Accounts section) again. I've already done the things your stupid article states to do, which are still irrelevant to my problem, which is iCloud's inability to stick credentials to my Gmail accounts. I don't have this issue with third-party apps (Airmail, Sparrow, Mailbox, and now the trial of Postbox seems to be working great as well). This is an isolated Apple Mail/iCloud issue.BTW- For fun I set up a Gmail account and added it to my Apple Mail. Works fine. Sent myself emails using my GMAIL address from within Apple Mail and with my normal email address from Bluehost and got the three starter emails from Google. No problem. Also used Gmail online to send myself an email to my regular email address. Worked.
BTW- I did what the article I posted said to do and change Gmail to use IMAP.
about 17,000 mails in total going back to 2005,
It doesn't take that much space to begin with (less than 8GB in my case) and proved itself so many times to be extremely helpful for finding old records for tax and warranty purposes, to settle old disputes, and keep a record of business correspondence. Spotlight is great for finding what you are looking for among the seemingly buried information when you need it, which is very hard to do it otherwise. When you filter your search by name and subject, you also get a chronological list of correspondence, which is very useful for building a case file if needed. Why on earth are you hoarding every email you've ever sent/received?
