Apple Money and Wasted Time

Does anyone else feel that with all the money and power that Apple has that they should be a little farther ahead of where they are?

Samsung & Android seem to be ahead of them with products and innovation.

I am a huge supporter of Apple and Tech in general but I feel like they are a tortoise to move and act. It seems like a cool Android device is released every two weeks. The real apple tv would have been cool two years ago but now the marketplace is getting crowded.

I want to be wowed and I buy the products but I am jaded and expect more (looking at you fingerprint sensor in iPad 5!)

Truly amazing features take time to develop. I am not trying to convince you, just stating the facts.

Apple will take its time, which is OK by me, let me enjoy things longer.

Just how is Android that far ahead from Apple? One big thing Apple did to prevent phone theft is put changes into iOS7 to prevent theft and then added Fingerprint security. Feature for feature they are the same as Android, just that Android phones tend to have a bigger but not better screen? I have not found one phone that competes with Retina.

There is no sense in your post. Apple is in a very good position so I don't get what you mean. You say they are slow without explaining why or giving examples.

1. Which cool Android device can you recall by name and manufacturer released two weeks ago? A month ago? A year ago? Any of those cool devices still being used because they're cool?

2. Which cool Android features can you recall from two weeks ago, a month ago or a year ago that are still being used by Android fans?

And no Googling. If it's a "cool" product or feature you shouldn't have to look it up.

Samsung seems to be throwing ideas at the wall to see which ones stick. I don't think that is "innovation," but it certainly looks like they're doing a lot. I do like the versatility of Android, and the HTC One and Nexus5 are FANTASTIC pieces of hardware.

For example, there are tons of unique features in the GS4 and Note3, but after using one for a while, I'm not sure how functional and useful those things really are. I personally prefer vanilla Android.

Apple isn't usually the leader when it comes to introducing a new feature. I mean, occasionally they will be, but it doesn't happen that often. Typically, they'll take something that another company is already doing and give it a fresh coat of paint and improve the usefulness in some way or another(This is debatable).

Anyway, just because Samsung is releasing a ton of Android devices doesn't mean they're all high end or even worth our time. As for the supposed Apple branded television, I never thought that made sense. How would Apple compete in that market? I'd rather keep the current Apple TV box that I can plug into any existing TV and access content that way.

I agree with you here. I think everything that Apple makes should now have TouchID. I use it many, many times every day.

How is how exactly is Samsung and android ahead I didn't see any 64-bit mobile devices at CES, Samsung and android have done nothing groundbreaking in 2013. Into 2014 they are just flooding the market with devices, making 10 different types of the same device is not innovation. Not to mention the third-party accessories that dwarf androids offerings.

I'm a hard-core gamer and I used to switch between OS X and Bootcamp so that I could play games at a decent frame rate, but that got to be such a hassle that I just built a windows box with a beefy video card and play my games on it.

I think many people feel like they have to stay in the Apple ecosystem regardless of whether the products do what they need them to do. Usually Apple makes the stuff that I want, but when someone makes something better, I have no problem getting that instead.

I don't feel I need to stay in any ecosystem.
If I like something better and it suits my needs then I get it.

64 bit? That would have been like me saying "I don't see any quad core Apple devices at xxxxx event" (or 2gb Ram, or any other random spec).

That's just the progression that all manufacturers will go through in their own ways not innovation.

Having a bigger screen is not a gimmick. It is a bigger screen.
Water proof is not a gimmick, changing the tv station is not a gimmick. NFC not a gimmick.

I just want Apple to take some risks. Stop with these marginal increases.

I do not have a single Samsung product but Samsung at least tries a bunch of things and sees what sticks.

There are phones that have a similar screen to the iPhone and iPad.

NFC is nothing special.(NFC is a chip set not a feature) IR blaster that's so 1970's. 3rd party remote control apps work just fine.

Use an HTC One. 1080p 4.7" display with awesome color(not AMOLED) and a pixel density of 469 PPI(that's higher than the iPhone retina display by a decent amount). It's a gorgeous display, I miss it, but not the horrible camera that comes with it.

NFC is A secure way to send information from device to device. It is just a feature, like 3d in TVs. You may not use it daily but every so often. I wouldn't buy a phone just for it but it would count as a feature. Like waterproof.

Again NFC is a chip set. Not a feature, the programming is the feature. If the GS4 did not have NFC it would still have the same features.

Logitech app/system a much better solution than IR. If you have a home theater your equipment is likely in another room so IR is a no go. The peel system is another great iOS remote solution
