After all these posts I still don't see any of the issues here. AM works just fine for me.

No offense, but really? Go back and read the posts. Apple Music is a mess of an interface. Just look at the giant block of text example. If you think that's okay and have no problem with that than you and I have a very different design training and aesthetic.

Interface aside, performance is just plain awful. They've scrambled the metaphor between a streaming library and a private library. Maybe you just don't understand what the issues are. But when Apple Music takes MY MUSIC, conflates it with something else entirely in its catalog, that's a big, big problem.

I truly hope they are working on it. I have been using the Amazon Music player the past day (like I said, I have previous experience with it).

I have over 60k songs in my library. The library loads quickly, is fast and easy to search, the controls are big and obvious and easy to use. Browsing back and forth between my music and he Amazon streaming library is simple and intuitive. And Amazon didn't completely obliterate my metadata or scramble it with theirs (which in many ways is actually *worse*). If you are listening to a song you can go to the artist or album directly. How could Apple Music have left out such a basic, basic feature?

The lack of deep integration with iOS isn't a big deal at all it turns out. I simply removed the Music app from my dock on my laptops and iOS devices and dropped in the Amazon Music app. Offline music works exactly the same but without the annoying frustration on AM of knowing if songs are available offline (sometimes the icon is shown, sometimes not) or the complete unresponsiveness when requesting to download songs.

Frankly, I am seriously disappointed in Apple Music. I'm shocked just how poor the user experience is. So many rudimentary rules of design simply seem to have been ignored. Design matters, especially for an app that I (would have) used throughout my day, every day.

I wish I knew that there were improvements underway but I fear in typical apple fashion they've decided what's best. All I know is that it is almost completely unusable for me.

Sorry to hear of your woes.

I agree about music you have uploaded to their cloud but I have no issues with the UI. Could it be better, sure it could. Siri integration makes it very attractive for me.

Hi everyone. I am considering an AM subscription, but posts like this make me nervous.

One question: does AM have the potential to ruin my current iTunes library?

Triple check you have backups before trying it, it messed up my library when I tried it when it came out, it messed up playlists, erased ratings and playcounts. I'm not sure how robust it's now, it should have gotten better, but never trust Apple on this, just make sure you got backups so you can revert if something happens.

Yes its could. Best bet is to keep a full copy of your current library. What I did was start a new library and then added my music after enabling iCloud library

Thanks guys. I think I will just go for Spotify instead.

I've been reading about and this The Verge article sums it up for me:
If you want to enjoy this service's most convenient features, there's no way of telling Apple "put a wall between my iTunes library and Apple Music."

Using that screenshot as a reference, the transparent (and not very legible) status bar over the album art really irks me and is really distracting from the main content. Why can't the album artwork be fully unobstructed? Ya know, like before?
I agree. I used to go through and make sure that every album in my collection had high quality artwork so it would look amazing on my phone and iPad. I don't like the way it displays now.

is (was) actually THE reason why back in 2004 I switched away from the messy music player and LOVED my
iPOD Clickwheel - and iTunes!!!
Now it became a mess. Totally frustrated. It started with the first iTunes app on iPad....

I bought music at iTunes for over 10 years (and I spent a fortune on it), and now I am using Spotify since two years.

I was hoping IOS 9.3 would show improvements in Apple Music, but no!

Im still happy enough to stick with it and hope its improved in the long run, but I'm still finding sometimes that AM will just screw up after a while of using it.

Everything is slow to load, UI graphics take ages to load up, tracks takes ages to start, and yesterday after a while of listening all the above occurred as well as error message "this media format is not supported" when trying to play songs.

Sometimes all the above will happen after a while of listening, at first its fine, all be it UI can still be a little slow to load stuff up.

It seems to have gone backwards in 9.3?

Is anyone else getting any of the above, Im pretty sure my internet is fine.

iTunes 12.4 was supposed to come with 10.11.4, it didn't, then it was listed in requirements for iPad Pro 9.7", it's now 12.3.3. I truly hope 12.4 fixes the sync bug which I just can't live with. I was a big fan of Spotify until I went Premium and discovered how arrogant their support are – if you post about a bug that was around since 2013 they will rename it to "new idea" and say 100 people need to support it in order for them to look at it. Then it won't happen anyway. Syncing local music is a PITA. The widget in Android just unloads itself and I was told people would hate it if there was a permanent notification required to keep it in memory (strange how Poweramp manages that). Then when I put my headphones in music doesn't start because it takes Spotify about a minute to load (strange how Poweramp manages that). I would love to switch to Apple Music but in its current shape it's just not going to happen. I have high hopes for iTunes 12.4 but I'm not holding my breath.

In the meantime Spotify has (as always) money problems. This is the one thing Apple doesn't have. Dear Apple, buy Poweramp and fix your sync – I can't believe I HAVE to use iCloud to sync songs to my phone. I want you to take my money, I really do, but with albums that magically change artwork, content, lose tags, replace live versions with album tracks... no. Sorry not sorry. While searching local files on Spotify is difficult for no apparent reason, I make playlists with albums they don't have, then I sync them and it works. It's not an ideal solution but I have the tracks I want on my phone, not ones that AM decided I would like instead.

Just realised we had no update on Apple Music in the keynote, nor any mention of subscription numbers.

That tells a tale.
There were many things they didn't talk about, which is not surprising as they were not part of the keynote. If they would cover all subjects, Mr. Tim Cook would still be there talking now.
That the start of Apple Music wasn't as great as they hoped is clear. It is by far not as bad as some people make out, but there is definitely room for improvement. Subscription numbers must be better than Tidal, why else would the truly awful Kanye West release his rubbish on Apple Music in the end?

I think more people use an iPhone 4 than subscribe to TIDAL, it's not really fair to compete Apple Music to it. Poor dat, TIDAL.

When I feel sad I google "tidal news" and almost every day there's something there to make me laugh.

Another day, another Apple Music screw up.

This time, another matched song (a whole album in this case). It's listed in My Music. But the contents of that album are decidedly NOT my music.

It may be the same album by the same artist but it is some other release altogether. Different song order, different mixes.

The matching algorithm really blows. Like seriously.

In case you are wondering the album is Soul Mining by The The. I just want my music back. Can listen to my library at home via my NAS or Amazon music on Sonos. Can sync songs across devices by Amazon music, can pick up the pop song du jour on Spotify.

Apple didn't think clearly through the ramifications of match. They should have just uploaded everything and left people's collections as-is.

Just send some feedback on Apple's way. I've given them feedback multiple times. I won't stop until they fix the matching issues. I think everybody shoud write to them if they want the matching algorithm to get fixed.

I have big hopes that iTunes 12.4 – which was supposed to come out with iPad Pro 9.7" – will fix them. Hopefully the fact it's not out yet means they really are trying to get it right. Hopefully.

There's a lot to fix with AM so don't get your hopes too high.
