I’m sure they’re nice, but they don’t support Apple’s Hi-Res Lossless Audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz.

1. I think you'll struggle to find anything actually recorded at that resolution - the majority of electronic music is 44.1 or 48khz, anything "hi-res" (which makes no difference anyway) is going to br 88 or 96khz. I wouldn't be wasting my time or money playing back 192khz when you can just buy an excellent DAC that will actually make a difference at the sample rates the music is actually delivered in.

I get what you're saying, and you seem like one of the most knowledgeable ones here.

All I'm trying to say is if someone wants to buy a DAC that supports up to 24-bit/192 kHz, then they shouldn't buy AudioQuest's DragonFly DACs. Otherwise, they're great DACs.

Years ago, I thought when Apple started offering "hi-res" audio, they would only use the 96kHz sample rate. I think it's the best "hi-res" sample rate to use for various reasons.

If someone wanted to buy a DAC that supported Apple’s Hi-Res Lossless Audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz, why would they buy AudioQuest’s DragonFly Cobalt?
Because maybe they only care about audible practical high quality audio and don’t care about sample rate because they know better? 🙄 link an alternative product that is as portable and isn’t discontinued if you want to contribute. Otherwise this constant dissident is tiring

Did you take a poll or survey?

I posted a reply to your post that mentioned: "....AudioQuest DragonFly Cobalt sounds fantastic"

There could've been someone that read your post and thought AudioQuest made the best DAC and bought one. Not knowing that all three of AudioQuest's DragonFly DACs only support "hi-res" audio up to 24-bit/96kHz.

I don't understand why you have a problem with me or anyone else that makes information available to people that helps them make a smart decision on which DACs they should buy. We're here to help each other out.

Yeah I didn’t think you’d find any either 😂 thanks for posting

I'm not going to waste my time, because you're not worth it. And you still refuse to answer my simple question.

I'll post the question one more time:

It’s a simple question that you should be able to answer.

The list of devices that don’t support lossless resolution is outdated. Can someone update the article. Both generation slow of HomePod and the HomePod mini supports lossless, as well as the Apple TV. https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/09/22/how-to-stream-lossless-audio-to-homepod

Hmm, kudos to you for doing a search and finding this nearly 3 year old thread, instead of making a new one.

FWIW;
These all were CD’s that I uploaded to iTunes long time ago. I’ve never subscribed to Apple Music.

I notice now some have lossless next to them while others don’t.
Can’t explain that.

My iTunes is based on my home iMac originally… now it’s on my M3 MacBook Pro, as that has 4TB SSD.

I show 2 that have “free” lossless and one not. I had nearly 350 CD’s owned that are in my iTunes now.
