You may like woodish bookcases, but I do not like. Without option to choose: wood, glass, metal, …, or just flat/clean it is ugly and crazy. Wood-simulated case on portable digital device: it is just stupid.

Why is realism stupid? If I flicked through a long list of what look like DVD titles on a retailer's website it wouldn't entice me to pick one. Seeing realistic-looking books on a realistic-looking bookshelf makes me think of picking an actual book up off an actual bookshelf, and thus the whole situation is more lifelike. It entices me to 'pick a book up' and read it, whereas the cold and unrealistic slew of DVD-style images that look like they're books up for sale on an online website does not entice me to read at all. The realism is non-existant and thus my interest is lost.

They have all had their pluses and minuses. iOS7 was a tad bit dyslexic and has never really been finished/fixed.
For me the worst part of 7 was the design. It was different and not something I particularly cared for. My opinion. The worst part of 8 and still existing is the sheer volume / number of bugs. Bugs that have never been nor will be fixed. Every iteration in 8 was a fix/break. You have to wonder where the quality is. Now with 9, even with the expansive "public testing", there are major breaks. WTH!?! o_O
Bugs / Issues at launch I can see. Not properly addressing them prior to the next major version is a platform confidence break. :(

I couldn't get through this entire thread without laughing.

Look, if you want an OS that never changes because it doesn't get updated, go get an Android phone.

I was under the impression that Android is overhauled every 12 months, just like iOS. Few people keep a phone longer than two years, and Android phones receive at least one software update. As iOS slows older devices to a crawl beyond two years anyway, I don't understand your argument.

The new guard of 64 bit phones are basically future proof for 4 years. Although with my ipad 2 running like a top with IOS 9 I think it's good for another year.

The 32Bit iPhone 5 has performed better for longer than the 5S, i6 and especially 6+ will. The i5 is still performing well three years after release and yet the 6+ is struggling. It handles its 1GB of RAM better than any of the 64Bit iPhones currently on the market. Will the 5S be every bit as good as the 6S when iOS10 is released? I very much doubt it.

As for the design argument. I vote for the iOS 7+ design. I always hated the old design.

I know not everyone is going to agree, but I have to say I love the new "flat" design Apple introduced with iOS 7. Looking back, I really do not the older pre-iOS 7 design.

But again, that's just me.

The i5 does NOT perform better than the 5S, especially since the hardware of the 5S allows capabilities beyond that of the i5. As far as the 6 and 6+, I can only speak for the 6 as I have one...well I bought it and gave it to my son. The i6 is pretty much a beast on IOS 9.

Android is. Most phones, though, never see those updates.

I feel sorry for the people that can't move on and just learn how to either enjoy what they have or find a phone that they can actually enjoy.

2012 is over, iOS 6 isn't coming back. If you don't like the direction iOS is heading in, make sure your next phone isn't an iPhone.

Interesting
Cook's aim since becoming CEO has been reported to be building a culture of harmony, which meant "weeding out people with disagreeable personalities—people Jobs tolerated and even held close, like Forstall," although others noted that "Apple's ability to innovate came from tension and disagreement."

I like some details of iOS 6 more than iOS 7/8/9, in some areas this new design seems too empty.

I'm talking longevity from new. The 32Bit i5 uses less RAM and consequently fares much better on that measly 1GB than the 5S/6/6+ have. Plus the processor and GPU are plenty good enough for iOS7, 8 and 9. Heck the i5 even performs better than the 6+. I'm not saying that the i5 is faster that the 5S, even though the difference is slight, I'm merely saying that it had a longer period from new where it more or less matched the couple of phones that came after it. No other iPhone has managed that feat and the MUCH improved app/tab reloading actually makes it a better phone than the 5S/6/6+ in that one huge regard.

Anyone else noticed the title stops at "iOS 6 was the last . . ."?
Learn to forum @DBZmusicboy01. I can't take any of your posts seriously anymore for the rest of the day.

Most of that user's threads have been like that unfortunately.

and the sad thing is I have a new 6S+ coming but can't use it till Apple fixes the VPN issue that is still broke in 9.1 ... o_O
Guess I bought a short term shelf decoration ....

Some times I do long for the older iOS versions ..... the days of pseudo reality visuality.

Well all I know is my 6+ is a lot more stuttery and frozen screens and delayed typing since I upgraded to 9. Way worse. I guess I will try a couple of restarts and see if that helps. But my 6s+ will be getting here on Friday anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter to me, but it may matter to people who aren't upgrading this year.

Genius prank...They probably think Steve is still alive too...
Not exactly all that genius really. You got to wonder how many people they had to cut out who didn't fall for this. Could be done with anything really if enough people are stopped to get those few that will provide something that you are looking for.

While I don't agree with OP's sentiment in any way, I will note that my iPhone 5 runs very hot on iOS 9 and eats battery like no tomorrow. I've gone from 50% to 35% in just a minute or so, and the iPhone is clearly much warmer.

Erase all content and restore from back up, or download the iOS 9 IPSW file and do a restore from that. Problem will be fixed.

For me, it isn't that iOS6 is amazing or that iBooks was amazing with the wooden bookcase... Just that today it is completely void of anything to like at all.

iOS doesn't look bad... But it does look mediocre. It certainly shouldn't go back to looking like iOS6, but I hope it evolves into something that looks better than it does today.

And to people that say you should just jump to Android, etc. There is far more to the OS than the looks. I like iOS, the developers making apps for it, and how you interact with the OS. I was on Android for nearly a year. Looks-wise, there were a lot of things I preferred and a lot of things i didn't. But man the App Store sucked.

What's wrong with the option in accessibilitty? (reduce motion)
Just asking.
Not nearly enough to reduce animations. My jailbroken iPhone flies because animations are set to zero. There is a tweak called nonmoreanimations. It effectively ends all of them. iOS becomes super fast as a result.
