iPhone SE (2016) Apple needs to make it clear they are still interested in Smaller iPhones or not!

Is the regular iPhone 8 not considered small? It’s definitely a one-handed phone. The iPhone SE looks like a kid’s phone.
I mean, I don’t take offense to this, but does it really matter what a smart phone looks like? Or just basically how the SE executes convenience in a small form factor, that’s what the SE accomplishes.
I am still using an old iPhone 5. Works fine for the little I use it but camera is now broken.
So I went to the shop and had a look at the XS. Nice but ridiculous price. I don't define myself through mobile phones. I find oogling into a phone screen in public is pretty trashy). Plus for that price point I would have to watch out all the time that I am not dropping or loosing it. Who needs that pain?
Looked at the XR as well. Price point is OK and nice camera. But for the two messages I write or receive per day I shall carry around the equivalent of a 200 bar of chocolate in my jeans?! That's a nuisance for me, not an increase in quality of life.
I expect Appel to offer me products I want to have, not ones THEY want me to have. So I will just get the camera somehow fixed and carry on with the 5 till it's beaten to death.

I strongly agree with pretty much all of this. Except I do use my phone (SE) for quite a bit more than a couple texts, but I try to limit use to when no one is around me. I hate isolating myself by staring at my phone or wearing headphones in public, even if others around me are doing it too. When everyone is on their phones I feel like we’re a zombie society. Of course if I have to check something on my phone, I’ll go ahead and do it and get it done, but not sit there and surf the web or watch random YouTube videos and miss a chance to interact with another human being. I can reserve all my consuming for home and sometimes my work cubicle (haha). And there I prefer to use my iPad or Mac or Apple tv. I hope Apple remembers people like you and me someday.
It's more reasonable to expect Apple to offer products that most people want.
Aside from this thread, there is _a lot_ more than three people who opted/wanted the SE. However, The SE was always meant to be a limited time offering from Apple. I don’t believe it was ever intended to be a refreshed iPhone model annually like the other models.
I read a brief article speculating that the Xr would have been more successful had it been a bit smaller. I would have scooped it up in a heartbeat if it was the same size as an 8 but as it stands am on the fence because of its size. I wonder how many 7/8s have been sold in the last few months that might have been Xr purchases if not for the size. I think 4 inch phones might be dead, but believe that there might still be a considerable market for new model, non-phablet phones that don't cost a thousand dollars. Apple doesn't seem to want to make them so we may never know.

I've got a fresh SE sitting a box ready for when my current SE gets too old- so I'm OK for a few years.
The good thing is there is nothing, absolutely, nothing that has come out in phones since 2016 that I feel like I'm missing out on.
Hopefully the Apple Watch, or other brand, completely takes over needing a phone in a few years.

Just a tip: You might want to keep your new SE that you haven’t used charged regularly, just sitting in a box like that over the course of time, the lithium ion battery will degrade and may not recover if it’s not used. It really depends on when you purchased it and how long it will be sitting until you plan on using it.

Since Apple wants to move into services, this is what they will ultimately do - a smaller XR / SE2 potentially with integrated touch ID to cover all bases.
The top-end models will remain at sky-high prices.
I partially disagree. Yes, I think it’s very feasible that Apple could really use a smaller version of the XR, and if they do, I don’t see it retaining touch ID, I think face ID would be the continuum. And the reason for that is, I think Apple wants to leave behind touch ID all together, and then keeping it or updating it again, is going to do nothing more than confuse what Tim Cook said, which was ‘Face ID is there a future’ moving forward.
The FACT they don't sell them now should tell you something. Not sure WHY you expect, WHAT, a Press Release formally announcing they ain't. Did they issue a Press Release saying they are ONLY going to sell large format phones now, as they ACTUALLY do?

After my max, I have a hard time with the 5s. Then I miss the screen real estate of the max. There is no winning.
The SE is a very convenient little phone that many appreciated that apple obviously discontinued. Will they bring it back? Even if they do, it won’t be what you once were subjected to, it will be something entirely different, but still may retain a smaller form factor. With Apple, they are completely unpredictable, so it’s difficult to say.

While I love the 1-handed form factor of the SE and how easily pocketable it is... I just can’t go back to a screen that small.
Since I work at a job with 10-hr shifts and 90% of that being downtime with nothing to do, a larger screen like my 8+ is basically a must to keep my brain occupied.
Reading kindle books, browsing the web, watching videos, etc are just so much more comfortable on a larger 5.5-inch screen.
P.S. I really do hope Apple refreshes the SE, even if I won’t personally get it, for nothing else but to give choices to those who want the smaller form factor.
