The problem is the operating system, that laptop will be 32bit rated, and Apple being Apple, will not stock on the app store any 23bit apps...So that laptop like my ipad stuck in the past...You might be able to install an older version of apps if you have them, but sadly it would not be a good idea...
I just looked at the apple website and the trashcan is still listed, with High Sierra...wow...not sure I would trust such an old device with High Sierra, the trashcan max ram 64GB...not surprised given it is from the 32bit days....
I would in a heart beat swop my 2013 retina for a silver key macbook pro, the 17inch one....
