Let's be honest. Is that really the reason? This seems to have very little to do with developer feedback, and a lot to do with the ongoing antitrust investigations.
Nope I would say Apple wants Apple devices to be taken more seriously for gaming.

Am I imagining things, or have I been able to play xbox games on my iPad this whole time? (though to be honest, I'm not quite certain whether I'm streaming from my xbox at home or through game pass)
Just go to the Xbox Cloud website (https://www.xbox.com/en-US/play), tap on the Share button (arrow up) on the Safari's menu bar, choose Add to Home Screen. This will add an web app to your home screen so you can play Xbox on cloud. Close the Safari app and use the web app instead.

I bought a backbone controller, and GeForce Now + GamePass and iPhone...total game changer. And this update has made my Backbone controller even more useful.
I use an Xbox elite controller. Play GeForce now on my OLED TV via my MacBook, on my MacBook, and iPad. I have game pass ultimate so can play those games via it too. Really is the way forward.

Would be great to have those native for the Vision Pro! Hopefully the iPad app works fine with it.

Apps will also be able to provide enhanced discovery opportunities for streaming games, mini-apps, mini-games, chatbots, and plug-ins that are found within their apps.
Interesting, what mini apps they talking about in this announcement?

I just got Xbox game pass as a trial to try playing some retro games with friends, since the majorty of our group do not have an Xbox. This would be absolutely killer to have as an app on Apple TV. No need for an Xbox at all and still get mainly the same experience.

This was probably originally compelled by the EU Digital Markets Act, but what made it a sudden global change is the wide and open cold shoulder the rest of the content and developer world has given Vision Pro.

If Apple couldn't compel Microsoft to make an Xbox app per-game-stream for iPhone, and now Netflix and Google (YouTube) are openly ignoring Apple's latest App Store, right as their App Stores are getting opened up while losing revenue and shrinking to below the value of Microsoft, maybe it's enough red flags for Apple to take the hint that they don't hold all the leverage anymore.

If this includes GeForce Now, I guess this means even the cheapest iPad is now a hardcore gaming machine. 😆

Cool, I was considering giving Xbox cloud gaming a chance. Lots of classic Xbox games that I grew up playing as a kid that I want to experience again (I don't own a working Xbox now).
