I don't understand why people are trying to glitch the system by changing Regions and other stuff, and then wondering why their cards are still not working?!?!

Just wait til the 14th - its only a few days away.................

For me it's just the curiosity. Just a bunch of nerds, geeks, tinkerers etc. who like to play about with technology. No harm in it.

Not one person (that I can remember) has wondered why it isn't working... I think everyone is clear in the understanding that it is unreleased.

I've probably learnt more about tech through installing betas, alphas and pre-releases in general - then tinkering rather than waiting for the polished article landing and using it like a good boy.

I wish Tesco had contact less!
They're (slowly) rolling it out!

If you notice on the Apple Pay partners page, Harris & Hoole are listed which is Tesco's brand for it's in-store coffee shops. I presume all their terminals are now contactless, and to be on that page you have to have all contactless terminals. So there's hope for Tesco being on there soon. :)

For apple pay to work do you need a connection of some sort? or would for example being on airplane mode work? sometimes where i live i don't always get 3g or 4g so I'm stuck with incredibly slow non loading internet (can't remember what is goes to)
Apple Pay works exactly like a contactless card except it's more secure (Touch ID). So the answer is no, no connection is needed. The only time you need a connection is when you are adding a new card.

Do you need an internet connection when you use your current contactless debit / credit card? So no I don't believe you would not need a 3g or 4g connection.

TFL = Transport for London?

If so, then it's almost like an Oyster card. You don't need to top up as it take funds from the bank account you used for Apple Pay. Downside is that any benefits you have (Freedom Pass, Jobseekers discount or ANY discount) won't work.

Just do what you do with an Oyster card really.

The only problem with Apple Pay is that if you have all your cards on your phone and you then choose to never carry a wallet and your phone dies - you won't be able to buy BUGGER ALL!!!!!!!! :p

Because we want it NOW!!!!!!

Also it will be really cool paying with your phone and not having to take the wallet out of the house.
Be calm youngling, it will come when it comes. In the general scheme of things it is not that important. And before you ask, yes I will be using it. At the end of the day though it is still just another way to spend your money.

Just received an email from Nationwide telling method they'll be in the first wave of banks supporting this when it rolls out later in the month. Still just coming soon though with no specific date.

Same as you not being able to phone anyone... ;) I would never leave home without a USB battery pack (that holds a few full charges for my 6 Plus) nowadays.

Alas it's only in their London stores that they're 'trialling' it even though it's been over a year.

Having asked them several times on Twitter they keep saying they've got no plans to roll it out elsewhere which seems rediculous. Maybe not full tills but can't see why they wouldn't on their self-service checkouts. So frustrating!

Hope they change thier minds soon.

Given how they've been doing recently, it wouldn't surprise me if it's a service improvement that's been put on hold due to the cost... Shame if so, as the tesco metro self service checkouts would be ideal.

I think it's simply a case of them only replacing the terminals when they are life-expired. The refurbished stores should have the new contactless terminals and I'm pretty sure I've seen them up north. All of Tesco's "One-Stop" stores should also have contactless now: http://www.slrmag.co.uk/one-stop-set-for-contactless-roll-out/

Does anyone know whether Apple still takes a cut out of the transaction for regular contactless? I know it's 0.15% for Apple Pay, but considering that we can also just use our devices where we've been using our contactless cards regularly, I was just curious.

Still Apple Pay. Still 0.15%.

This is why I'm surprised that they've not made Oyster a mobile app, that can sit in passbook or something.
Think that would be slower than Apple Pay which automatically launches once you hold your card over the reader.

That said, TfL must be expecting a very small percentage of people to use Apple Pay or it will cause chaos at the ticket gates. Maybe in the future they'll work with Apple so touching Touch ID isn't required - contactless cards already work differently on ticket gates as they know never to request a PIN (happens occasionally when used on card terminals).
