Same for me, debit card activated immediately but credit card still activating.

Same issue here. Phoned HSBC and got put through to their Technical Support team who deal with Apple Pay. She was a bit confused by the issue and seemed to think that because I had already added cards, the server would need to catch up?!

She suggested leaving it today to see if it eventually went through and call back tomorrow if it hadn't.

I setup my Debit card with HSBC this morning. I've only tried using my watch, but I set it up on the iPhone. I've used it for Lunch at Japanese Canteen and this morning on the Tube. Working perfectly so far.

Can you remove and re-add with text message confirmation instead of email?

No, because for some stupid reason it wants to send the text message confirmation to a phone number I stopped using 7 years ago when I got my first iPhone, even though First Direct send me text message account updates to my current number every couple of days.

Tried using Apple Pay for the first time today, tried twice in the Co-op and it didn't work - declined both times. Strangely my contactless debit card worked straight away. Any idea what might have caused this? The member of staff who served me mentioned how it didn't work for some one using a watch earlier in the week.

I had this exact problem at the Co-Op. All other places I've used it have worked fine, but Co-Op didn't. My contactless card worked fine.

I've still been too scared to use it, because I don't really know how too..... Do you have to open an app or anything?

On the phone or watch?
Phone - just hold it near the contactless reader, and hold touch ID (for your default card), or select the card and swipe to the one you want to pay with.
Watch - just double press the friends button and hold near the terminal.

I've not actually used my phone yet, the watch is too easy :)

Technology hey! Who would use it.

[rubbingsaltinthewound]Guess your only option is to wait it out. I used it for my lunch today and it worked great![rubbingsaltinthewound\]

Remove it and add it again, it will work. VISA had an issue and they fixed it after 15:00 UK time.
Tried that just now, but it says it cannot send a verification code, try again in a few minutes. Tried a few times, same message every time. I'll try again tomorrow.

I used my HSBC Debit card in M & S Café today. I requested contactless payment and paid with my Watch.
The transaction went through without any problem. I was amazed how super quick it was.

Used my watch on McDonalds this morning, which took 2 attempts near the reader. Might be user error tho.

Used iPhone at Waitrose at lunch (self service) which worked before I even got it dead close. Perfect!!

Only quibble is no recent transactions for the watch.

I wondered if i was missing something when recent transactions didn't show from my watch. Ah well.

Most banks don't show all transactions. Just the ones on the actual device used. The watch has no capability to show transactions on it. That's what I want.
This is what I was referring too as well. My phone shows recent transactions made with apple pay, my watch shows no transactions at all. I wonder if it does in watchOS 2?

I wish it did. I have no recent transactions because I'm using Watch and an iPhone 5s.

Yea, I thought you were. It was the other poster that missed what we meant.

I don't think it does in WatchOS2 sadly. It would be nice to have that information.

Just out of interest, I did enter my email address on the HSBC website to get updates regarding Apple Pay. All my HSBC cards are registered now, but still no email from HSBC. They really are a bunch of clowns, I am considering moving banks now, as HSBC are also quite expensive for using their cards abroad. That is not set in stone yet, will put my thinking cap on (and maybe some tin foil over it) and then consider my options.
