Has anybody used Apple Pay in M&S lately? Just been in M&S at Kingsway Derby, and apparently all contactless payments are not working.

I used Apple Pay maybe two weeks ago at M&S in Edinburgh fine. I haven't been since then though. It could just be the store having problems though. Does anyone know if M&S is limitless?

Tried to use Apple Pay in Aldi the other day but my total came to £30.59 so I was out of luck. Wish it was limitless.

Also, does anyone get their transaction from the watch show up in their wallet app on the phone? I don't and I'm with Santander but I heard a while ago it's bank dependent but I'm not sure how true that is.

I've used Apple Pay at M&S Intu Centre in Derby and at Simply Food in Ashbourne without any trouble.

In terms of Watch transactions displaying on my iPhone I've got Apple Pay on Lloyds, Barclays (as well as Santander) and neither of those show it either.

FWIW all my AmEx transactions regardless of whether they're done using Apple Pay, normal contactless or online (presumably as cardholder not present) show up on my phone within seconds of me making the purchase.

This is a feature of Amex. No other bank offers this level of service.

This is what I want, might have to look in to getting an Amex...

I've applied for an American Express credit card (on Monday). They couldn't give me an instant decision but I'm hoping it'll be a yes.

I do have the Santander 123 MasterCard (before they introduced the cash back cap) but always good to have a "back up".

I've got the 123 card too! The only thing that's holding me back about Amex is the lack of acceptance at some places.

Noticed at Morrisons (Blaydon) last night they now have an Apple Pay option on the payment method screen on their self service terminals, must have just added it recently as last time was there had to go into card payment to use AP

They are not supporting ApplePay yet, but Number 26 (an app only bank) does show transactions instantly. I hope they support ApplePay soon.

That's definitely a recent update to the EPOS because when I last went in Morrison's (end of March) like you I had to select Card Payment on the screen for AP.

Neither am I eligible for an Amex card yet, is that American Express, unfortunately i'm approx 3yrs away from returning to mainstream cards.

unamused face why doesn't' macrumours accept emoji's

I think American Express are quite difficult to obtain credit with if you're recent history is less than ideal (in their eyes). I've seen instances (on Money Saving Expert) where people have had their cards from years ago. Gotten into a mess etc. The details have fallen off their credit files but they can never have an AmEx card again in their own name.

I'd never heard of Number 26 Bank before. If they extend their operations here into the UK one feature I liked was the ability to be able to block certain transactions (i.e. online shopping).

The MasterCard reminds me of the days AmEx used to have clear plastic and a blue square on one of their CCs.

Is this a hint towards limitless Apple Pay? Fingers crossed!

I noticed this when I did my food shop last week, it's labelled 'Contactless/Apple Pay', rather than just Apple Pay. It threw me, as I've been used to just tapping card payment previously.

.

Valid quote, my existing cra reports are very low as I was unemployed for a few weeks 2011.

Enjoy my macbook/iphone/sky q, home entertainment whilst I work through clearing my past credit probs.

Nice subway meal tonight, via iPhone,to be advised my groceries last night didn't go through via contactless, no probs quick re scan, no probs. (doesn't often fail I think if i'm in a hurry the payment isn't being authorised)

no other bank in the UK.
I always thought the banking system here was terribly outdated and inconvenient. Often you pay with your debit card and the transaction doesn't appear until up to a week later and it often comes with the wrong date !! so it's quite difficult to keep track of all transactions. Never understood such system.

In other countries I've lived in, debit transaction appear instantaneously on your banking statement. and i'm talking about banking experiences more than 15 years ago. You would have thought UK Banks had enough time to catch up?

This is one of the reasons I'm very excited about developments like Apple Pay or the new Mondo-style "app banks".

The only time I've encountered an instantaneous debit from my bank account was with NatWest some years ago. Was one of the old style blue online only Visa Debit cards.

Other than that it's usually no more than two working days from the date of transaction to it being processed on my statement; both my Santander credit card and Lloyds Bank Visa Debit card allow me to see pending transactions that have yet to be billed.

That depends on the bank. With Lloyds and TSB the vast majority of chip and pin transactions appear as pending transactions almost immediately though it would be nice if they would push out a notification every time a transaction was received. It would be a great way of stopping fraudulent transactions.

I have heard from a reliable source that Sainsbury's are planning the rollout of contactless payments at the end of the year with it being complete by Christmas. The contactless will support Apple Pay (it will also support Android pay and Samsung pay if they have rolled out by then). Additionally Apple Pay will be limitless (so will Android pay and Samsung pay).

Somewhat of a change from May when they said they'd start rolling out contactless; but if they do enable 'limitless' Apple Pay then that'd be welcome.

Visited Morrison's in Burton-on-Trent last night and spotted the new contactless/Apple Pay button on the self service checkout.

Prior to that visited the local Flamin' Grill pub chain on Centrum 100 and they had Apple Pay stickers everywhere. Meant to ask the barman if it was capped at £30 but they were too busy.

Sainsbury's has had contactless readers for ages and they keep saying they'll enable them "soon" - I'll believe it when I see it.

Second Subway I've been to where their readers didn't authorise my Apple Pay. No idea why. Had to use Chip & Pin, the horror!
