Everyone check your apple.com orders...mine just flipped to "Preparing for shipment" as of an hour ago. Also, if your apple order hasn't updated, check the BB website. They are now showing a ton of availability, starting on the 25th...if you select express shipping...an extra $20...

Nope...... Mine is still processing 19-26 Nov, which is getting very close to the end date.
All this after ordering on day one just a few hours after it went live on the Apple Store App.

At least in the US you have the option to order from a third party. We have no such luck in the UK, the only option is eBay and the scalpers or an extended wait from Apple. But I agree, it is very disappointing to see third party shop sales prioritised over launch day (11/11) Apple online sales.

Same happened with the retina MacBook order, it was far easier to get it from John Lewis or currys than wait for the apple online order. I just wish apple would prioritise it's orders first, lots of loyal customers being let down.

Look like I was bitching too soon Apple order was 20 to 30 NOV. change to day to 23 to 1 DEC.
but just so my paypal account and see new charges for the Apple pen so maybe will ship tomorrow.

Yep, mine just went to preparing for shipment. I don't know if talking to support helped, because the change was very shortly after our chat. So it looks like I might get the pencil tommorow or wednesday, and I get the $20 back for expedited shipping.

Also I just got an email that my moxiware pencil magnet sleeve thing is shipping too. Hopefully this answers the "where do I put the pen" question.

Wonder if that sleave makes the pencil less slippery. A very good idea

Same here!

Same here. However, the good news for me is that at least my smart keyboard (ordered the same time as the pencil) changed to preparing for shipment.

Edit: I noticed that I have pending credit card charges for both items, though, so the pencil shouldn't be too far behind the keyboard.

And the pencil just changed to preparing for shipment. Excellent.

I put my order in, a few minutes after it went live...Shipping date when I ordered was the 17th but by the time I got my order confirmation, it was 20th-30th. As I mentioned earlier, it flipped to "preparing for shipment" a little over an hour ago...

This is a US order right?
Mine is a UK order 19-26.

Mine was the same date range.

It changed to preparing for shipment, and shipped just now.

Wow! I checked BB's website and saw that the availability had been updated, with every store listed within 250 miles of me, had them available starting on the 25th...Checked my Apple.com order and saw it's "preparing for shipment". Went back to the BB website to maybe grab one for a friend...literally 2 minutes later, and now the BB website is showing "item not available for pickup now"...It may just be a "pencil"...but this one is in demand! lol

I still wonder if the quantity sold is really all that high. It just feels like they made the supply so crazy low from the start that even a small number of orders (by comparison to other products) still feels like an "in-demand" item.

I hope this really doesn't work as a marketing strategy. Because being a loyal Apple fan and early adopter, I feel like I was used in a scheme to trick others not so dedicated into thinking they need one too at my expense of making my order take 2 weeks to get instead of being available and newsworthy-free.

In short, they made selling a few million pencils a story by stringing us along instead of just giving it to us and having no web-news-traffic about the pencil because everyone is happy at home enjoying their pencil wishing the apps would catch up with all the features you want included for the pencil.

I don't think this was intentional. I think they had production issues at the last minute, and decided not to delay the ipad release to wait for the pencil production to get up to speed.

I agree the pencil should have been included in the box, but if they did that, the release might have been delayed to after Christmas.

Very happy for you but how is this crap possible? Apple should've shipped out release day orders before selling to third party stores. Day one order has not shipped. So lame.
I think they're constraining the supply somehow because its definitely not viable as a company to ship your own products to select retail stores and have people buying from you wait longer than those that can have 1-day shipping from a retail store. I also happened to snag a smart keyboard from BB an hour ago with next day shipping thankfully and while I'm ecstatic, this whole iPad accessory issue is really not acceptable...

Still nothing..... Processing 19-26 Nov.
This is not the Apple I remember. They used to be far out in front when it came to customer satisfaction and the way they got these things done.
Now all they have become is another Dell!
