- Tablet PC Edition
- Professional x64 Edition

- Windows Vista Business
- Windows Vista Enterprise
- Windows Vista Home Premium
- Windows Vista Home Basic

Note, there will actually be more Vista versions for European market.

Microsoft tents to make things complicated compared to Apple who basically has one version.

You have missed out the N versions which are a legal requirement in Europe.

I just spilled my beer. I can't believe this isn't a joke - but nobody said anything to counter this. OMG. What a great piece of crippleware.

Obviously they would hate to join the words "Vista" and "crippled" in the same sentence...worse, MS says that those "starter editions" are supposed to be sold in "developing" markets to cut on piracy and improve access to a great OS...what a joke..!

Right now I have 6 open windows, and this is just with Mail, Safari and Adium...ridiculous..!

Don't forget that Windows users think in boxes: one program at a time, just look at maximising windows. It's not that they have only one program running, but they are much more focused on the one open window than Mac users, plus, closing a windows window means exiting a program, in OS X the program continues to run, so I think that an average Mac users has more programs running than a Windows counterpart

Depending on how they do it and if it's less than $1500 (preferably less than $1000), I'd get one in a heartbeat.

I've completely fallen in love with my 30gb iPod Photo's UI. The fact that it's not only ultra-portable, but also needs nothing more than a thumb to use for all its features, has completely spoiled me to the point where I won't consider buying *any* laptop for mobile computing - they're all too big.

Besides price, the sweet spots for me are:
A) Low power-consumption CPU a la Core Solo at 1.67ghz with 1GB RAM(?possible?)
B) OS X version for handhelds
C) Can fit comfortably inside a shirt or jacket pocket
D) Supports bluetooth and video-out for those moments when you do hook it up to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

Oh well, we'll see.

I'd say lower the price for those specs. Maybe add mini-DVI for on the go keynote speeches and such

Are you nuts? On 11 inch screen @ 1280x720 you'd have to use a loupe to see anything!!! Not to mention APple wont make 16:9 screen when all their computers/displays have 16:10

Gotta have mini DVI and optical audio out. Its going to be a pro machine so it needs that sort of functionality.

Isn't 10.5 going to be resolution independent (ie. you can choose what size everything looks independently of actual panel resolution)....

It is in Tiger, you just need the developer tools installed to use it.

From what I remember reading (I still use Panther) they didn't get it finished in time for Tiger to ship, so they just hid it away.

Anyhow, I sometimes wonder why Microsoft makes it so difficult at times. The more versions you have, the harder it is to support them.
