This is why I want Apple to win the "AI arms race" people claim there is. Google, Microsoft, even companies that depend on creatives like Adobe, keep on introducing AI features meant to replace the creativity of artists. Apple in the other hand uses AI to help creatives with the more tedious, non-creative tasks. Anyone who's a video editor will tell you transcribing audio for captions, making masks for effects, organising libraries are some of the most boring and annoying things we have to do.

But sorry, yeah, Apple is the enemy of humanity for... *reads notes* crushing an old piano for an ad. Got it.
Apple, thanks for making this a free upgrade. Sure others had some of thede features first, but none of them have bern free upgrades for The Last 11 Years.

Hopefully they'll add proper anamorphic support. It's insane that that's not a thing in FCP. You can't set clips to have custom 1.33 or 1.5x desqueeze. Insanity!

I bought both Logic Pro *199 dollars and FCP 299 dollars and consider them to be my best personal investment in software over years. Both are feature rich, constantly updated, updates are free.
And I’m not sure if they still do, but they used to offer a sweet bundle price for educators and students. (like $199 for FCP+Logic+Motion+Compressor I think)

Final Cut Pro for Mac is priced at $299.99, while Final Cut Pro for iPad is priced at $4.99 per month or $49 per year. The version 11 update is available to existing users for free.
I never had Final Cut Pro 7 but I had purchased Final Cut Pro X (over a decade ago) from the Mac App Store using iTunes gift cards that I was able to acquire for ~20% off from various retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy & Costco so my net cost of Final Cut Pro X was around $240

For many years, a lot of retailers used to discount iTunes gift cards but stopped doing those deals when Apple switched over to a unified gift card system back in 2020:

I was curious as to whether I was going to have to re-purchase this (at $299.99) but I’m glad that this article has clarified that that will not be the case

That’s pretty amazing that anybody that had already purchased Final Cut Pro X anytime after it was released (back in 2011) doesn’t have to re-buy it again!

Appears the software is a bit more optomized for newer systems too. I wish I had installed the last version of FCPX before the new update on my M4 Mini to compare, but on my 2023 Macbook Pro M3 Pro, I was able to compare both versions.

Both times are average after 3 attempts.

I think they still do. I bought Motion and Compressor for 50 dollars each. Motion especially is a steal at that price. I used it for short animation movies (to be combined in a music video)

Serious question: is it good?

If you were starting in video production today, would you still choose FCP over DaVinci Resolve? For simple videos with a rambling person (me). I have M1 Max and intend to use simple H265 smartphone footage... for now.
capcut is good enough for a lot of people

Are all the functions available from M1 to M4? Or are there specific functions for the latest models?

The Auto subtitles will save money. It was close to grand for new subs to be created! I hope it’s good

Looks like Apple missing all the deadlines recently. Version 11 barely differs from 10.9 and such. Back in the days each major version meant full design overhaul. Feels like stagnation and same old stuff over and over again. While it is nice existing users get it as a free update, it is basically version 10.9.9

InShot has been good for me too. Slicing clips into full featured videos takes few minutes vs doing it on my mac for hours. It only lacks some layer editing and basic color grading, although over the years I had learned it is better to shoot already colorful video with proper white balance than waste time “grading logs”

Will we finally get a version of Motion 6.0 with new features? Or will the next version be 5.9.1a?
Are several years of patching version 5 not enough?

So  ❤️'s Movie Editors and hates Professional Photographers?
Got it thanks.

RIP Aperture.
Unfortunately it is true. They killed Aperture and failed to deliver their promise of transferring all the features to Photos app. While I don’t mind editing options it offers, they are VERY basic

Lol auto corrected
capcut is an excellent software, though it is geared toward instragram crowd I suppose. I, however, used some of its very cool built in effects for a music video. FCP has huge library of built in plugins, but some Capcut effects are very easy and cool too.
