Do streaming apps work via ipads with usbc, or is that broken the same way apple broke hdmi/lightning adapters with ios 16? Wondering if it will be the same for iphones with usbc...
You mean can you connect via a USBC/HDMI to a display and stream? Yes, that works just fine…

interesting - so the issue is only lightning to hdmi not working? why do they allow usbc to work and not lightning wrt hdmi?

I’ve also used lightning to hdmi to stream using my phone FWIW
since updating to ios 16? ios16 appears to have broken that and I haven't been able to stream using the apple lightning/hdmi adapter.

I think so, but maybe it’s been longer than I thought, I’ll have to try when I get home now

From what i know, netflix doesnt allow to use hdmi out in order to prevent signal splitting and use one account on multiple monitors. In fact netflix doesnt work on non certified devices like chinese media players. So its sounds odd to me that it was possible to use it with lightning, as i cant even use a macbook connected to a tv to watch netflix....

With an app or a browser? I use the surface travel adapter with my surface on tvs all the time (and watch
multiple services, but all via browser)

But other apps do allow to use lightning to hdmi. Or at least they did until not long ago.

I use it from my macos devices to a TV all the time… are you using a TV and cable that supports HDCP? You can get an HDCP stripper if needed if your TV doesnt support

Bear in mind no one would be able to watch netflix on a mac mini or mac pro if you couldnt do hdmi/dp out, this is definitely a problem with your setup

yes i recall now and i was wrong. i used it with hdmi out. however there was another not standard setup, maybe double screen that doesnt work. apple devices, like game consoles, nvidia shield etc are certified devices so u can use hdmi out of course. however chinese media players that can be heavily tweaked, arent, because otherwise u can split signal to several tvs and stream same movie in all room's tvs of let say hospital
