Should Tim Cook allow future iPhones to have a pre-installed screen protector?

A standard screen protector (that you could easily remove) is not a "feature", and yes, that bit of factory-installed foofaraw would add to the cost.
What universe would you come from that would not add cost and labor for that?
And, Apple will probably adjust the warranty status if you choose to remove that Apple-provided piece of nonsense.

They are optional. It’s called. Taking. It. Off.
If it's optional, then it should be us installing it, not Apple pre-installing them.

IF you expect something like this, I recommend Samsung. I believe they do come pre-installed, just like my friends Samsung has it pre-installed.

I’d rather have the choice to put my own screen screen protector on personally. Apple already charge £30 for a screen protector that isn’t any better than a £5 Spigen one off Amazon as it is. They’d just add that to the cost of an already very expensive phone. No thanks.

Belkin sells the screen protector. It’s made by belkin.

I mean it would be nice wouldn't it? But knowing Apple won't do it 😂

Actually why did Apple have to use use White this time? They always used clear film. all one needs to do is cut the end off and there you go. lol
I’ve actually done that before. I used to cut around the speakers on the clear film they used to have.

that’s why they should have a screen protector installed like they had the protective film on.

I know the brand, and it’s the one Apple has chosen as it’s collaborator for this service. I’d rather not have one pre-installed and choose which one I wanted. Tempered glass protectors are so cheap these days and come with a template to install yourself, they are foolproof to put on. It’s a no for me on the Belkin as we know Apple too well to even hypocritically imagine them offering this for free lol.

With how delicate the screens are nowadays with it being more shatter resistant but more likely to scratch
I don't care if it has a screen protector installed or not, if the price was the same I suppose I wouldn't mind. However I disagree with your premise that "nowadays" the screens are easier to scratch.

From everything I've seen in online scratch-tests, the phone is no more scratch-prone than previous models or other similar devices. I guess the big benefit of an Apple factory screen protector pre-installed is that we can be sure Apple will have tested it with their cases to avoid a situation like what happened on the Mini pre 14.2.1. I suppose a sapphire glass screen protector would really be nice as it would be a best-of-both world's type situation. You'd get the scratch resistance of sapphire, with the shatter resistance of the underlying screen.

This year was my first time ever applying a screen protector to a glass-screened phone. My wife had a friend apply one to her phone on her trip to china last November. Friend was shocked we never used them. The wife likes them now, so I bought an ESR 3-pack for her 12-Pro-Max. I installed hers and it was so easy I figured...what the hell, I may as well put one on mine also. It really was SUPER easy compared to the old "plastic" screen protectors we had back in the old Palm pilot days.

How can you decide on something that hasn’t happened yet. It’s prejudice.

I agree with what you said. And I love that your wife loves it too. Let’s just go with the hypothetical that the price doesn’t change regardless if you are a know-at-all about Apple.

Honestly I think it would be great if they came pre-installed and you could just remove it if desired. My Fold 2 had one pre-installed but it definitely wasn't as good as the one I'm currently rocking on my 12 PM. So unless Apple installed a really nice one, I wouldn't want that.

Apple used to have clear film on the previous iPhones that I would keep on during the 14 day return period. I just cut around the speaker grill and the attachment that wrapped on the back side of the phone.

It was preinstalled so perfectly, no dust or bubbles. If Apple could do that again but with a proper screen protector cut out then I would happy to keep it on until it wore out.

I am pro having a protector installed, but I can just imagine all the threads and posts on here complaining that the pre-installed protector that came on their brand new iPhone has a piece of dust or hair under it, LOL!

LOL right?

Not interested in these myself, but yes, Apple should offer this for an extra 75 bucks as an option from its Stores upon pickup maybe.
