Mine went back, thought they were better this year initially but it turned into the same greasy, linty mess as last year. Expensive also. Currently using an “Apple leather” case from AliExpress which I am actually really pleased with. Could have 5 for the price of the Silicon. It’s not leather but it’s not bad and mimics the old leather cases I used to love well. The fact it’s not leather might actually make it wear a bit better also.

Well, "mess" is a bit exaggerated.. it's just so hard to get it into and out of my pockets. When it was new it was OK.
Yes, I went on record as saying this year's silicone cases seemed much better, but I am also finding this issue again and those really annoying smudges and fingerprints are back...

Does the colour have any bearing on performance? Do lighter / brighter colours perform better? The sun-glow case on my 14 seemed better at shrugging off the marks and also felt nicer in the hand throughout its life.

Stone Gray + Desert

Wow, I actually love these Apple cases and they’re the nicest cases ever… but I went through FOUR Midnight Blue 6s cases in about 5 years of usage.

So I got the Otterbox Figura for my Xʀ, used it for 5.5 years, and it’s still perfectly alive.

So I considered, when upgrading to the 16 Plus two weeks ago, whether or not to return to my favourite cases, but for durability’s sake I chose to repeat a working formula and got the Otterbox Figura for the 16 Plus again.

I’m not changing my mind because it’s already done… but I’m curious! How are the 16 Series cases in terms of quality and durability? Are they durable now or are they the same feeble nonsense they were? (Sorry, but I am extremely careful with my devices and I broke four). I want to know whether I made a mistake, honestly. Curiosity killed the Cat, but that’s okay.

I love the Silicone Cases, too. Especially the first few days. And I always think: "wow, they are much better this year". But they aren't. It's the same sticky mess after a few weeks as every year. But they save the live of my phone, the fit is great, the camera button, too and I like the colours. One thing I noticed for the 16 series is that the silicone wears off really easily at the bottom where you swipe up and you can feel the underlying layer of plastic. Not nice. And I think we all agree that they are way too expensive.

They are expensive but we all know what the solution is - have a number of cases in rotation at any time and we can avoid / delay the onset of the issues above. I have added a periwinkle case to the plum and also use a clear Spigen case occasionally. I plan to add another of the lighter spring colours.
