I used to have a 21.5inch iMac and it served me well for a good few years. I always loved the glossy screen. When the M1 Mac mini came out, I thought it would be a good time to upgrade as I was working from home more and wanted an external monitor that would work with my work laptop. I got a Philips 27inch 1440p monitor and even though it was higher res than my iMac, I was left feeling a little bit disappointed. The colours didn't pop and it looked flat.
I decided to bite the bullet and buy the Studio Display as I write code all day and sharper text will be useful, having the mic and camera built in to my monitor will be useful for work meetings and it'll just work seamlessly with my work MacBook Pro.
Having now got it, it really is a huge upgrade from my 1440p monitor. It's incredibly expensive, but there aren't really many 5k alternatives, so as a productivity monitor, I think it'll do a great job.
