One quick question for those who own a Studio Display and maybe found a way to work with both a windows pc and a mac.
Is there some thunderbolt switch (or equivalent) by which one can connect both the windows pc and the mac to the studio display without continuously detaching/attaching cables?

BONUS question:
In your opinion, will we see an OLED studio display anytime soon?
I use cabledeconn usb-c switch with XDR

Works well

Been using the screen for over a week. I bought three, however only setup the one to test it out so far.

In general, I like it, it is nice and clear (very sharp) Looks good, I like the screen being glossy believe it or not and aesthetically it looks great.

I go on conference calls quite a bit, I have noticed that the audio in general is good my side however lots of people are complaining about the mic not being great, sounding very tiny. When I change the mic to the MBP 16" M1 Max, it sounds a lot better for them (no obstructions).

Additionally, from different people, they have asked me what has happened to my camera, as in the quality has deteriorated and is very laggy. Again, when I change to the MBP, they state it is miles better.

All in all, I am rather pleased even though I have to change the way the mics work by default, change the camera (not essential but still a nice thing).

Sadly, I am torn if to keep them or not, I think for the £4600+ investment, I am not sure it is worth it for me.

Sad times :(

I know people rag on the ASD's camera, but I've never heard anyone describe it as "laggy."

Perhaps people are seeing the Center Stage effect and thinking it's buffering of some kind? You can turn that off and manual center/zoom the image. See if that helps.

I use my ASD's camera for Zoom & WebEx all the time and not once has anyone at the other end complained or commented on the image quality, nor have they commented on microphone quality, though that could be unique to your room's environment. And about that -- test the microphone by recording yourself and listen to the playback. Perhaps somehow yours is defective. Just a thought.

Same here. I do a few Zoom/Google Meet sessions a month and don't have that. The image quality is definitely better if I use continuity camera with my iPhone, but not one cares if I don't.

I’ve been using ASD cameras since launch for multiple video calls a day on Zoom, Teams, WebEx, Slack and Google without any issues or negative comments. Even now, the quality of the camera looks as good as, if not better than the majority of others.

I suspect that’s the same in a lot of corporate environments where the priority is just to have everyone on camera - to be able to be seen and heard clearly - and image quality is very much secondary for day to day stuff.

I needed a second monitor, in addition to my ASD, that can act as a second monitor for my Mac, and my Surface Studio Laptop 2. So, since ASD doesn't accept two inputs, I tried out the Samsung Infinity S9 5K Thunderbolt 27" display.

It's actually pretty good and matches the ASD in specs, including 220 dpi. It comes matte only, and it looks good. Plus, unlike the ASD, it can connect to two computers and can lift up and down and even rotate for no additional charge. (comes on Apple. seriously?) Samsung has them down from $1599 to $699. Then I got another $200 off for education, leaving the price at $650 delivered. Couldn't resist that and glad I bought it.

Where'd you find it for that price??

Is anyone able to manually readjust the frame of their Studio Display camera from the camera options that appear when you have an app that's using the cam? (Teams, FaceTime...). I remember that this was a feature that they had in the first versions of Sonoma (I don't know if it was removed in the betas before launch or if it even got to the customer macOS 14.0 version), but then it just stopped working.

When I place the cursor over the camera, I see a "hand" icon, but it doesn't do anything, I cannot manually adjust the camera or the zoom. It does work if I'm using an iPhone external camera, but it doesn't seem to be working with the Studio Display camera anymore... Am I the only one having this issue?

hi everyone, I bought the VESA mount version of apple studio display and now I want to see if I can use the adjustable stand. Is there anyway I can buy the stand alone or if there are places where I can buy a replica and install it?

Apple can do it, but it’ll be unreasonably expensive, and you’ll lose the option to use the VESA interface.

I’m sure you can find a reasonable stand that has a VESA mount.

Here’s the first search hit:

Why would you waste the money buying an Apple stand when you already have a VESA mount version? Just buy a VESA desk stand for $20, or better yet just use a VESA Mount Arm which is far more adjustable and space-saving and only costs a few $ more than the VESA desk stand.

Samsung's web site. But I see now the sale is no more. But they put it on sale regularly. Probably still has the $200 eduction discount though.

That's an awesome price. I can get an educational discount. I am a graphic designer and wonder if the Samsumg would be good for that. I have never had a display outside of Apple. I still use my ACD 30" to this day. Great display but I need the higher resolution and newer tech. My favorite is the XDR but I can't afford the $7k+ price tag (stand/nano).

I got myself ASD :) After a lot of thinking (more than half a year or so), I clicked 'Order' button and awaiting for it. Will arrive on monday.

I was thinking about other displays due to the huge price of ASD; though don't like matte display, lack of camera and micro (although I could use Continuity function), and rarely they have speakers. It's interesting I spend so much money on the display that is going to be used for regular work (Excel, Word, internet, music and connected SteamDeck :p )but hope this is investment and it will stay with me for a bunch of years given its 5K resolution. 60Hz is fine, it's not a gaming display. Checked for the others and only ultrawide LG are 5k 120Hz so it is nonsense!

Anyway, What should I take a look at as it arrive (in regards of eventual faults)?

Hello there,
I just received my Apple Studio Display, and it is basically awesome! However, the only issue I have is a buzzing sound from the Thunderbolt ports when connecting my MBP M3 or Steam Deck to it. Do you know if something is wrong?

Thanks

PS Couldn't find better tag/ appreciate change if incorrect rather than removing post.

My first (launch day) studio display had major loud buzzing issues. I returned it and then waited two years to buy another. My second (current studio display) has no buzzing.

My testing with the first display indicated that electrical/RF noise in the house was likely the cause of the buzzing in the studio display. It was significantly worse when the mini split heat pumps were running, and the circuit panel hummed audibly as well. I moved to a newer house between studio displays with a much heftier circuit panel
and better wiring. If you live in an old house this may be your issue…

Nah, my house is not so old. Only 4 years 😬 anyway… the buzzing however stems from USB-C ports, it is noticeable only when approaching with the ear to them. That’s it is perfectly no noise. Could you kindly check if anything connected cause that noise from USB-C? Maybe that is just

I’m sure you gonna love it! It’s the best display I’ve ever seen.
