Curious if any body regrets getting or not getting the nano-texture? Im looking to order in the near future, height and tilt stand is a must but I’m undecided on nano-texture. I have seen both in the store and like them both
I wish I had gotten the nano texture. I underestimated the glare. Never really noticed it on cheaper monitors.

I got the nano-texture as I wanted to be able to position the monitor opposite a window in my home office.

There’s never any direct sunlight, but a lot of indirect sunlight. (Facing north.)

The nano-display works perfectly. I have another monitor, an HP Z27 with matte surface, and that doesn’t do nearly as good a job. So it’s clearly more than just matte, it really reduces glare.

Had I not gotten the nano-display I’d have to choose a different layout of the office, which would utilize the space worse.

I’ve been so happy with the nano-texture ASD that I decided to splurge for a nano-texture 11” iPad this summer.
It’s equally amazing and really usable when outside in bright environments.

I got my brand new/refurbished apple studio display last week and I couldn't be happier! I decided on the basic tilt only with the glossy display. I do have windows in my office, but nothing directly opposite. It looks INCREDIBLE! I thought it wouldn't be much different that my 2017 27inch 5K iMac... boy was I wrong.

As a creative professional perfect color was important to me and this thing was ready to roll right out of the box. Yes $1600 is a lot to spend, but I did get mine refurbished from Apple - so it was $1,495 tax included.

Are you in the US? There have been multiple deals on the base ASD for $1299. Amazon, Best Buy, Costco. So those end up cheaper than Apple’s refurbished units.

I compared the Nano-Textured version of the ASD with the Glossy model. Sorry, but in my opinion the advantage of the 5k resolution is eaten up by the Nano-Textured panel to such an extent that I could also buy a 4k glossy monitor. Only the 5K Glossy has the full quality of the Retina resolution for me.

I must have missed those - yes I'm in Alabama. Typically I buy from BH Photo using the Payboo credit card. As long as I pay the balance all at once I don't pay sales tax - which saves a bunch of money.

I completely agree - nano textured or matte screens from back in the day were not near as sharp or nice. However, I don't work around a ton of windows - so the glossy works well for me.

100% agree. I went with the glossy in the end. I live in UK so it's miserable and dark most of the time so reflections from sun are not an issue :)

I was faced with the same dilemma and eventually opted for a standard, glossy option. There's a lot of direct sunlight in my room, but "luckily" the temperatures in the summer get really intense over here (Serbia) due to the good old global warming and having AC on is not enough anymore when you get Dubai-style scorching heat in July & August, so I have to use the window shades to contain the sunlight coming into the room anyway, so a nano texture option would be a waste of money in my case.

Also, the degraded sharpness would probably irk me as well due to my well-perfected OCD and since I work with text and code most of the time, sharpness is really important for my use case. YMMV

I am mostly coding as well, I didn't notice any blurriness when I looked at a Studio Display in the store with nano-texture but admittedly the glossy screen Studio Display was on the other side of the desk so I didn't see them side by side.

I am coming from a LG 27" 4K display with a matte display that is just OK, I think ill order the glossy and see how I get on (could always return it)

Yeah, if you compare them side by side, it's much easier to see a subtle but significant difference when you look at a wall of text, for example. It was enough for me to go with the glossy version. It's been over a month since I've bought it and I still get delighted every day at the gorgeous 5K crispiness of all that text. It's simply amazing.

I’m going to order the glossy height adjustable when they release the M4 Mac Mini’s (hopefully next month)

I just upgraded my desktop to Sonoma, and at the same time got a firmware update for the Studio Display.

I was wondering -- what happens if I want to downgrade to Ventura? Will the Studio display malfunction, or will it just stop supplying the features that require Sonoma?

Note that this is a hypothetical question, so please, no questions about why I'd want to downgrade.

Man I never wanted one of these until I started my YouTube channel recently. Im scared because im actually considering picking one uppppp

I get that it's a lot of money - and there are other cheaper options, especially 4K screens. I do this professionally - and the perfect color, build quality and knowing that I'll have it for many years convinced me to pull the trigger.
yea thats huge. I want to learn how to color grade. So having accurate colors is a must

Nothing. ASD will stay at same firmware, it won’t be “downgraded”. There aren’t Sonoma specific features.

I'm like 99% sure you'll be fine. The Studio Display works with all kinds of computers, the firmware stuff is mostly about increasing compatibility and troubleshooting the silly camera. And incidentally I haven't had a firmware upgrade in like six months, I think it's mostly ironed out.

I can definitely tell you this: nothing major will happen, you'll get updated firmware thats really it.

I switch my monitor usage between mac studio and macbook air m2. MBA is in sonoma, mac studio in monteray. My ASD's are all updated to firmware 17 - via MBA. Switch ASD back to mac studio to use and no issues. Don't need to worry.

Get it. You'll love it. Mine has been holding well for the past 2 years - no issues and the speakers been absolute awesome. So much so that when my LG 5K died right after warranty died, I recently replaced it with another ASD.

no regrets for Nano texture (a must for my work space) I think ppl expect it to be a hindrence when its actually a blessing. —high nits + Nano makes for a very clear image with suppressed glare

I'd also suggest the vesa mount for a bonus feature of portrait/landscape orientation, YMMV.
