no regrets for Nano texture (a must for my work space) I think ppl expect it to be a hindrence when its actually a blessing. —high nits + Nano makes for a very clear image with suppressed glare

I'd also suggest the vesa mount for a bonus feature of portrait/landscape orientation, YMMV.
Cleaning the monitor screen with the supplied cloth, any problems or tips @kkclstuff ?

super easy.

once a month or so just wipe with cloth... spritz with water if needed (I don't spray in my work space, but I just dampen my hand and pat the cloth swatch lightly, gently clean screen. —the lightly damp cloth removes any smudges easier than "pressing hard to wipe them out"

I would suggest storing the cloth swatch in a dust-free storage location/drawer/etc

2yrs in: monitor, (nano surface), and swatch all are in great condition considering Im in the middle of NYC with tons of pollen/exhaust/dust 👍

Hi! Anyone has issues with unwanted HDR videos? Netflix and even today's keynote on Apple's own website tries to play HDR content which looks super dark. Is there any way to turn this off? Like literally a white background in the keynote shows up like #dddddd... Looks bright on Youtube. Left is Apple.com:

So I'm guessing there's still no news or even rumours of an ASD refresh or the more "pro" version of the screen? Just fitting out a new office and am back to the usual conundrum of whether to go for...

A single 40" Dell UW... two ASDs... or a Pro Display XDR.

Only the ASD has speakers and webcam built-in, but then I end up with the never-ending question of how to arrange the dual monitors.

Not that I've heard, either. They don't seem to crank out new displays often by history, and if they continue to make the ASD a Thunderbolt-based monitor and hub, given the situational context if they plan to release TB 5 Macs, seems they'd want the ASD to support TB 5 (a better match for delivering 5K at 120-Hz, IIRC). On the other hand, if TB 5 closes much of the distance between external SSD Thunderbolt vs. Apple's high-priced internal SSD upgrades, rolling out TB 5 across the whole lineup might cost them upgrade money.

If M4 Macs are announced in an Oct. event as rumored, and they don't have TB 5, I'll be surprised (which granted isn't worth much!) if they quickly put out a new 27 or 32" 5K ASD model - without TB 5 it may seem dated quickly, and with TB 5 it'll highlight that the Macs aren't TB 5.

In a roundabout way, I'm asking if it makes sense to wait till Oct. to make your choice. Are there specific features you're hoping for in a next gen. ASD that would make it compelling?

It would be truly astounding if M4 Macs have Thunderbolt 5, because existing M4 chips don't have Thunderbolt 5. There has simply never been any single-generation differences between various Apple Silicon chips of any kind beyond the number of various cores, and I guess the number of PCI lanes if you want to get really technical.

Even before they went on their "display hiatus," they'd only release new displays about once every eight years… I can't guess guess when the ADC will get updated but I sure wouldn't hold my breath.

Yes, I've been around for long enough to know that I should be grateful Apple are producing a monitor at all! Even if they made the same spec in a couple of larger formats I think that would help, but I guess they're not big selling devices in the first place.

I recently purchased a refurbished Studio Display from Apple. I luv this unit but have always felt the audio to be left biased...using an after market app I can get an equal balance but the volume and quality of sound diminishes..and no i missed the Applecare window...an oddity I recently noticed after test running Audirvana that many files seem to play properly balanced..for info I have an older Dell monitor located directly to the right of this sudio (magnetic influence ? )
I have been waiting to compliment this ASD with an additional and thought something new might be released at last weeks event but since nothing came I'm gonna jump an another in a week or so..I guess that will answer my balance question and I'll be certain to Apple Care it,...tia..luv these monitors

Finally hit order on an ASD. I had an Apple refurb in my cart for a day and it disappeared, so went with Amazon, which had them new for 1399, not including the 5% visa discount. I wonder if this means it’s being updated? Oh well. Either way, I will be able to retire my 2017 iMac and hook my m3 mbp to this for my large online courses. I hope it has no issues!

I still have my imac 2015 27"...the new ASD is so much better as time has taken it's toll ....you will sure like the new screen

I don't think they're being updated yet. Apple goes a long time between display updates. Even the XDR is still going unmodified from when it was first released, and the Studio Display is newer than that.

The new version could be worse than the current Apple Studio Display. The OLED panels are suffering from PWM flickering which is not good for professional use.

I can really tell the difference after a full day of working on the Apple Display Studio at home versus the PC monitors that we have in the office which has PWM flickering.

On an iPhone or iPad, PWM flickering is less of an issue as you don't spend 9+ hour per day staring it.

I'm the new owner of Apple Studio Display. Everything works great under Windows with BootCamp, but I cannot control brightness using Logitech MX Keys keyboard (even with Fn keys). On Apple keyboard all works fine with F1 and F2 (sadly no overlay). It's connected directly to RX6800XT with WJESOG USB-C cable to DisplayPort + USB-A. Firmware 17 installed on Studio Display.

I got the latest BootCamp 6.1.19 installed. Studio Display is properly recognized and I can control brightness manually, even automatic dimming is working well, but I would love to have some manual control directly from keyboard.

Do you have any ideas ?

On the Mac I would recommend Monitor Control (Free). I'm sure there is something similar for Windows OS, I'm just not aware of one.

Is there any way clone these buttons from Apple keyboard? Maybe it's hidden F14/F15 just like on macOS?

This will probably work…

1. get Windows Keyboard Manager (Powertoys) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/keyboard-manager
2. get the raw values from your Apple keyboard (possibly F14/F15 like you indicated)
3. remap the Logitech keys to those raw values

(educated guesswork ahead) There's no easy solution to this because Windows doesn't really have a built-in understanding of monitor brightness or volume keys. What actually happens on Dell laptops and whatnot is, they ship with proprietary drivers that listen to those keys, and then send commands to the OS.

Apple Bootcamp is doing the exact same thing, actually; you're remapping the keys so Bootcamp "hears" F11 (or whatever) as F1.

Just tested under macOS and both Logitech and Apple keyboard works fine (even with overlay!). With my previous Apple Cinema HD Display there was only one version of BootCamp which displayed overlay - the first BootCamp 6.0, I you installed any update the overlay was gone so I keep that in mind.

Gonna test this tip now.

Update: nothing works. I press F1 or F2 on Apple keyboard and Powertoys simply doesn't know what it is. Must be some secret Apple thing.
