I could see the mass confusion caused by naming two brands nearly the same. "NO I SAID I WANTED THE IPAD!", "Sir I have your Ipod right here".

I tend to agree with this. I think it fits well into the iPod family and isn't so different as to warrant a standalone name like the iPhone.

Not sure about that after HP released their tablet dubbed, "HP Slate". Unless some legal action is in HP's future, I don't think Apple will be going with the iSlate.

Pretty much. From what we are seeing at CES the type of devices that are similar to this rumored one are being dubbed "slates." Also, apple owns the rights to iSlate. However, it is Apple, so who freakin' knows.
